I have a Rowenta and I love it. There are all kinds
of models and prices. I like a little bit heavier
iron. Some of the others are so light, they don't
do much good. :)

I love my Rowenta. I'm not sure of the model but I've had it 15 years. Do you have a Joann Fabrics near you? Check their web site for a discount coupon. I also have a steam generator iron that I used wehn sewing for clients.

Definitely get a Rowenta. Prices range from $50 or so to over $100. I've given two people Rowentas as gifts and one woman reported that her husband loved it so much he ran out of things to iron and was thinking about ironing his socks!

Bed Bath and Beyond carries several different models and if you have one of their coupons, you can save 20 percent.

Thanks for your suggestions. I had been thinking about a Rowenta but I didn't know anyone who had one. And I do have a Bed, Bath and Beyond and a Joann's. Good ideas.

Bed, Bath & Beyond recently had a Rowenta with a $10 rebate in their ad, but I went online to read reviews and they were unfavorable for that model. The rowenta I had leaked and I was not impressed. Luckily I have a spare Sunbeam for now, but I need to get an iron eventually. I always keep a spare on hand.

Rowenta all the way! I used one when I did laundry and ironing for others for years and it was spendy but well worth it.

We, too, have a Rowenta and love it. I'll check what model it is later, when I'm near the laundry room...

I have always bought Sunbeam because they seem to steam so well.

I had a Rowenta and loved it but it only lasted about 5 years. I was ticked so I bought a Shark. It's on its second year, so we shall see.

We have an old Sunbeam Steam Iron that has a great feature: Automatic shut-off. If the iron if left in its flat, working position, a sensor checks for motion and if it detects none for a prescribed time, it shuts off the heater. If the iron is parked in an upended position, the time out period is longer.

This feature has given me great comfort becasue I am the worry wart of the family when it comer to fire hazards. Over the past 20 years, I have found that iron left on twice. It only takes once to burn down a house.

I believe that the Sunbeam Corporation no longer exists, but, surely this feature can be found in other irons, possibly the same iron made by another manufacturer.

I need a new iron and ironing board. Are there any irons NOT made in China? That's all I could find when I looked recently.

I love my Rowenta, bought my first one three years ago. Check the department stores too, Macys and the Bonton here sell them, check for sales, I can't remember what I paid for mine, but I remember thinking that I got a pretty good percentage off.

bryansda - I tried looking on the boxes for a iron made anywhere but China- I couldn't fine one - but then I was in Target. I think I'm just getting annoyed that everything is coming from there.

Tomorrow I'll pick up a Rowenta.
