New update on daughter

Good morning everyone. I want to give you as much of an update as I can. Daughter was stopped in DC and is still being held there until she can be transfered to the county where the original charges were filed. She had a court date last Friday and my middle daughter who happened to be working in DC that day was able to attend. She was not able to talk to her sister but was able to talk to her lawyer (public defendent) and learn that no charges would be filed but that she would be held until she can be transered to our county. So, she has been in DC in jail since Thursday and we hope she will be transfered today or tomorrow. I believe what will happen then is that she will have a court date within a day or two and most likely the State's attorney will not go forward with the charges. They told me that since I requested the car be returned through facebook, text message and voice mail there is no way to prove she every received the request. We are working frantically to find a place for her to go for treatment if we can get her to agree. She could just walk out of the court and disappear again. I have almost no control over what happens at this point. Nobody can talk or visit with her so I have no idea what shape she is in. This is tough. Prayers please. Satine

I hadn't heard that you found her, at least she's alive! That's a relief. Prayers for continued support on this.

Florence, glad to hear she's doing better, hopefully she will continue to thrive. Things like this go one of two ways, make you stronger, or totally depress you & can ruin your life. With me, it made me stronger, with someone else I know they started sinking and almost 3 years later are in a big deep hole. Just be sure to keep your eye on her. About my pain--it is still very painful in the thigh area---I had a bone scan on Thurs but will not know results till Tues--- Did you get the info I left in your other post? If you look here you can see that thigh pain can also come from the lumbar region. I also left you an address for acupuncture, she's very good. I actually had some relief when I saw her after my dad died (2006) but she's so far away, I couldn't drive myself & hubby couldn't take off 3 times a week to drive me. Too bad a person can re-edit ones post to fix such things, or spelling and grammar errors one didn't notice before posting. Police called me last night and told me he gave the lady a $400 ticket. Someone will also have to pay the towing and an impound fee of $100 per day to get the car back. Seems the lady a record 4 pages long of driving offenses. She of coarse has no license or insurance, and the car isn't registered to her. Seems it belongs to an uncle. Sounds like she's some kind of druggie who has a habit of getting doped up then drives. None of that helps me of coarse. Just puts that lady in a deeper hole to dig out of some day if she ever chooses to try. Don't understand why we all have to put up with such people. She should have been in jail years ago imo. So, she got a ticket? She probably got dozens of them she never appeared for already, and I'm sure she'll be driving as soon as she can get her hands on another car.

The laptop's all set up - and dd received it on Tuesday. For now we'll try open office. She does have a desktop pc with word if she needs it. And at school they use Mac's. So no matter what we use at home, it won't be quite the same as in school. abreeze - thanks for the link. It's beyond anything she or I will do now - but one or both of us might get more versed in powerpoint over time. That's a helpful comparison. I created recovery disks - but when I went to create a password reset disk, the laptop kept asking me to insert a disk. There was a disk in there. I even switched disks in case one was bad. But it was birthday day - so I figured I'd get to this later. Well - it came back and bit me in the butt. Birthday night had some trauma. After dinner, my mother fell backwards and hit her head on the sidewalk. I took her to the ER. My daughter was distraught - and the parent controls had logged her off at 9pm. Husband thought this was a reasonable exception - so he logged into the admin account for her. She immediately eliminated the time controls. No big deal, I thought - I'll reset them another time. Somehow she tricked my husband into entering the admin password again - told him she'd restarted the computer by accident. Well - that sneak had gotten him to enter the password in a field that allowed her to change it. She changed the passwords and locked us out of the laptop. So this is where that password reset disk would have been helpful - to override what she did and reset a new admin password. So this is partly a note to people about the important of creating a password reset disk (or set up on flash drive). I'd never even heard of this before. We're at the beach with my daughter and friend - it's instead of a birthday party. So we're not having the confrontation with this weekend. Monday - we tell her she has to hand back the reins for the admin account (or no laptop). The joys of parenting preteens. It took her less than 24 hours to violate most of the terms of the contract she signed. Sure wish I'd had that reset password disk. When I get admin control back, I'll be sure to create one somehow. (I assume at this point my only option is getting her to give me that new password she created.) Thanks. Lynn.

take a look in wal mart for scarves that cover your head, and come in some cute patterns (I had one for Halloween, and Christmas, lol) they're usually in the section where the purses are.... it's so hard on moms to have chemo, with kids...I can still remember one younger mom crying when the cancer nurse told us no kisses/hugs from children...is she going to have reconstructive surgery after or during?

Thankfully, you know where she is and is safe. Hopefully she will get the treatment she needs, and I pray you and your family can have some peace. Most of us have experienced family turmoil, so know how you are feeling. ((((Hugs))))

So glad that you're at least getting news of her. You don't say what she was stopped for and what she had to go to court for, but if those charges aren't going to be filed I don't know how they would have the authority to transfer her anywhere. If no charges are filed wouldn't they have to just let her go? I thought she was of legal age. Whatever it is, I hope that things work out and that she returns home and you all can make things right.

I'm so glad she's alive and at least for now, safe. I will pray for her and for your whole family. Hope she gets the treatment she needs and that it "sticks." You have been through so much.

I was just thinking of you today Satine. So glad you posted.
I am sure you are toying between relief and terror as to what may happen next. You know she is safe for now.
I hope you don't give the car back to her, she needs to get help, and back on her feet. A vehicle would ensure her taking off again.
I hope she understands the worry and the horror she has put you through since Easter.
I will be thinking of you often and hope all ends well.

Thank you for the up date. I so hope she is willing to go in a treatment program. If not, please know that you did all that you could. She's an adult, and there's very little you can do if she's not a willing participant. We hold so much hope for our children when they are born but sometimes an outside influence comes along and takes them down the wrong path. Special thoughts and wishes coming your way. May your daughter find the right path.

Hi all. I know things are confusing. She was stopped in DC because the car had been reported stolen. When stopped the car was searched and drug paraphanalia was found. No drugs. The charges against her were filed in Montgomery Co Md and since she was stopped in DC they held her. Montgomery Co has three days (not counting weekends and holidays) to transfer her. Since they have not done that yet she is still in DC being held for Mont. Co. Montgomery county has already told me that the car charges won't hold because she was not verbally told to return the car. Duh, she was missing! We face booked, texted, voice mailed, emailed etc but they are saying there is no way to prove she ever got any of the messages. My middle daughter has made some good contacts and we are hoping there is a treatment option for her. So many questions ahead. I am taking the car to carmax this afternoon after work and selling it for whatever they will give me. I never want to see it again. Thank you all for your concern and support. It has meant a great deal to me. Satine
