Started the Stephanie Plum book. Still reading the first(One For the Money), but had to come and tell you I am starting to get the question Ranger or Morelli? LOL

She got handcuffed to the bathroom towel bar a few pages back. Can't answer your question til I read more! LOL

Thank you, greenfingers. A question: how did you attach the metal poles to the trough? Did you secure them with screws, or simply stick them in the dirt inside the trough? My garden has now begun. I bought several bags of professional growers' potting mix and mixed it with topsoil and composted manure, adding Plant Tone organic amendment to the mix, topped with bark mulch. Found a nursery nearby with very reasonable prices. Went looking for cypress but decided I wanted traditional Southern plants that I couldn't grow before in the colder climate in the mountains, and I wanted perennials that I could 'harvest' for natural materials when I decorate for the holiday season. So far I've planted containers with 'Heavenly Bamboo' nandina (amazing winter color and berries), gardenia radicans (blooms and fragrance right now), acorus (sweet flag, gorgeous variegated foliage, strong vertical accent), and camellia sasanqua 'Setsugekka'(evergreen, fragrant, midwinter bloom, elegant semidouble white flowers). I'm aiming for garden additions that are visually beautiful and also attract wildlife and/or are fragrant. But my real splurge was a 4x4 'Little Gem' magnolia, in bloom, espaliered on a trellis. It looks absolutely perfect against one of the privacy fences lining the deck, and I can see it from wherever I sit in my living room. I plan to plant annual vines at the base next spring and let them intertwine: purple hyacinth bean, maybe moonflower. I hope birds will nest in it next year. The garden already has hummingbirds zooming in and out (I put up a feeder) and a praying mantis has taken up residence too. The deck is already getting full, so I really must figure out something, like baker's racks. to hold more pots. The only way to go is up. I'm sure that's a common problem on this forum.

My March plans had initially included the beginning of my sunchoke harvest next week and putting in the first rows of peas mid-month... which could easily still happen. Given that we're getting our best snowfall of the year right now, that may be postponed... or require a little top-undressing before I get to the harvesting part. Sunchokes are a remarkably forgiving crop, but not necessarily worth shoveling snow to harvest, and I have no delivery obligations till Easter week-end. It's truly spring in the hoop houses now, but even they will be a bit cool come Sunday.

This is a close-up of the border fabric I started working with. I tried not to get too matchy-matchy with the other fabrics, which is a tendency I fight all the time. At the same time, I didn't want the quilt to lose its more subtle, darker look either. I don't have the correct words to describe the different facets of color, but I know them when I see them. (I think it may be called saturation.)

I'm not sure where to get started in regards to a landscape plan

Find independent nurseries in your area and see what they have to offer. A couple of larger nurseries in my area offer design services for very reasonable costs. They also do as much of the installation as you're willing to pay for. Both nurseries then offer a discount on any plants you purchase off the plan they created. Smaller nurseries work with landscapers regularly and may be able to give you referrals. NextDoor is another good resource for referrals. IMO landscape architects are overkill for most home gardens unless you have a grand property with an even grander budget. Landscape designers from big and small companies can help you plan and execute a beautiful garden. Good luck!

LOL Tammy she posted this on the what are you reading lately post a week or so ago

I am one book behind in the Stephanie Plum series so I have number 14 waiting and it's really calling to me. Nodakgal you'll LOVE them and have to come back to answer... Ranger or Morelli? You'll understand that later. So far I think number 10 was the funniest, when you first meet Sally Sweet.

I am thinking there will be something going on there with the two guys Morelli and Ranger...I'm not far enough into it but think I see where its going.

Here is a link that might be useful: Here is the post,3/4ths the way down

oh....I see now! In the long run I think Joe is who you could have a long-term relationship with; Ranger is someone who you just lust after and mess around with...LOL

I really wish they would make a movie outt of these. Better yet, with all the shananigans that Stephanie gets into, a weekly show would be great!

Hahahahaha - so glad I stopped by tonight! I read 14 in two days. I new you'd get it.

Just when I think Morelli is "IT" there's Ranger saying "Babe". Can you say swoon? Oh yeah. I think there will be a LOT more of him in 15.

There are websites devoted to the casting of the characters. I disagree with most of them. It's funny to read how others in vision the characters.

Glad you are enjoying it. Of course you know you're hooked. Even if you don't realize it yet. They're my guilty pleasure.

In my mind Ranger and Roark, Eve Dallas' husband of the JD Robb series are both gorgeous hunks. They are alike in my eye. Mysterious, dark, and dangerous when crossed. And ohh so sexy.

Now Roark is a whole new ball of wax! I can just hear his voice in my head. Talk about a swoon!

I'm starting #15 tonight. One of those books had me laughing so hard one night I woke DH up. When he asked me what was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing long enough to tell him. I love Stephanie Plum!

I bet it was 10 where Granny, Sally Sweet, and (I think) Mooner are out in the Buick trying to solve crimes. I woke DH up with that book myself.

It's a TOUGH question! Why should we have to choose, can't we just have both? rofl
Jasdip

Danihoney, Roark is the husband of Eve Dallas. She's the heroine in JD Robb detective stories. They are futuristic, where Pepsi comes in tubes, (and recycled) and you get in a stand-up air dryer after showering.
He's a zazillionaire, and Eve is a tough-talking cop. He's always trying to feminize her and she won't have any of it.
Very good books as well.

Alisande started a thread a while back asking who we would pick for Roark in a tv movie. Alisande loves him too.

I don't want my favorite fictional characters put on TV or in a movie.

I'm sure every one of us has a slightly different picture of both Morelli and Ranger in her mind. Similar maybe but definitely unique.

Don't mess with my fantasies.

Ron and I both read all of the books in that series. I have wondered why they haven't turned them into movies. I can't decide who should play Ranger and Morelli. There are webites devoted to that, Danihoney? Figures!

Lots of opinions on various websites on the cast for the movies. As much as I like Sandra Bullock (she's the frontrunner, I think), she is too OLD to play Stephanie.

I feel like Stephanie is my cousin, since she's a Jersey girl, and drives the same highways I do! LOL!!!!

I've read each book more than once; can't get enough of them! When I'm in down mood, they always bring me up.

Enjoy
Dee
