That is a funny story, David and represents very well how different the non gardener views the gardener. (g) I did want to say about the aphid/ladybug deal, that because I garden organically, I normally take the approach to let things work themselves out in the garden as often as I can, and when I see aphids, I automatically think, 'Oh good, I have a lure for ladybugs now.' :-) And that is exactly what happened in my garden. I rarely see an aphid and when I do, a week later, I don't see them any more. I was pretty excited to see lady bugs plural this year, interested in our Asparagus foliage. So I am hoping that this may be some sort of habitat for them. Of course, I have to have enough aphids to feed them, if that is how many they can eat in a day!

Oh my, the lists. I've always been a listmaker, inherited that gene from dear ole Dad. Since I am hosting the holiday this year, I have lists, on the back sides of the paper I have a sub-list, and sadly, the lists are now broken down by indoor/outdoor, every room, menu/food/tasks and the pages have numbers, lol. I cannot function if I don't make lists. It is so satisfying when I can scratch something off one of these lists... Can you tell that I have an over-the-top certifiable type A personality? Really, I am pinch hitting for my SIL as her babysitter quit unexpectedly. Babies at 6 mos. are very fun, but also very distracting, lol. BTW, while tidying up DD's room this morning at 5:45 a.m. (baby naps in there), guess what I came upon on her desk....old lists! Apparently, the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. oakley - I collect post-its too. All colors, lined, unlined, themed, you name it, I probably have it when it comes to the post-it products. My current favorite is the bright lime green. Also collect different dispensers for said post-its. Along with the standard size post-it (3"x3") I buy the larger lined post-it memo pads (not for my "lists", since they don't make lined post-its large enough, YET), as well as post-it flags which I use for dogearing cookbooks, magazine articles, etc. In the spirit of full disclosure, I will confess that each serving piece I've washed so far in prep for the upcoming holiday have a post-it attached with what's going to go into the dish at Easter. I am curious about houseshoes as well? Never heard the term, guessing it may be regional for casual shoes or slippers? Just taking a stab in the dark. I am in serious need of a therapist or Aracept, probably both.

I have five kids (eldest is almost 12, youngest is almost 2) -- they are fantastic, incredible, wonderful creatures :-) We have four sons and a daughter, and our home is filled with the sounds of giggling and arguing and jumping and running and chitter-chatter. My husband and I go to bed every night thanking one another for the family we have. The first two boys (26 months apart) each arrived 11 weeks preterm (29 weeks' gestation) and required months of hospitalization in the NICU, including multiple surgeries, ambulance rides and long nights of wondering if they'd survive until morning. They finally became healthy little toddlers and I had my tubes tied, thinking there was no way I could bear to bring another baby into a terrifying scenario like that again. Time passed, and the yearning got only stronger for more children...I discovered the source of my obstetric problems (a congential gynecological defect) and underwent a grueling seven-hour surgery to repair my tubes and correct my dysfunctional anatomy. Went on to have three more scrumptious kids and now I have five healthy, gorgeous children. It's exhausting, yes. It sometimes causes a bit of financial juggling (I'm a SAHM). The volume in my house is often very high with clamors for my attention or frustrations among the siblings, but it's nothing compared to the joy of hearing them laugh uncontrollably during an afternoon of goofing off as a family. I don't worry about the teenage years -- we've done our best to lay the groundwork to raise our kids with enormous self-respect and self-esteem. They'll make mistakes, I'm sure of it, but hopefully they'll return to their core values and continue to grow into fine adults. Until then, we have years of baking cookies, chasing the dog around the backyard, monitoring homework and tidying up mountains of Hot Wheels and multi-colored wooden blocks with these sweet, funny little kids we're so lucky to call our own. It's all good. Create the family you want, and then pour your heart and soul into enjoying your blessings. If you already feel sad about *no more babies, ever* and the vasectomy hasn't even happened yet, you're clearly not ready to move on -- you'll know in your heart which path is right for you and your family.
