Do You Have A Book Light?

I recently decided I wanted one and bought a nice one at Hobby Lobby. I really do like it as I don't have good lighting to read by in my bedroom. Also when our electricity went out for some hours recently, I thought that would be nice to have.

Do you have one?

I have several. They are okay, but each has its own drawbacks. I bought each one based on the rave reviews on a Kindle forum, but still haven't found "the one".

not for many years...found it difficult to turn pages esp on my paperbacks....it's just easier to go down the hall/stairs and not disturb dh...99% of the time I bed hop anyway...

We buy books all the time. It's a hobby with us. We both have Kindles, so we buy e-books as well as 'real' books. For ebooks I often use Bookbub, which is great for exploring discounted new authors I wouldn't otherwise find. My categories are romance, history, sci-fi/fantasy, and mystery. Most are throwaways (deletions, IOW) but I've found almost a dozen new authors I'll be following in the future. DH just uses Amazon for his ebooks. He's got my password so I'm trusting him not go crazy with my acct [smile]. Barnes & Noble offered us a good deal on a Barclays Bank card. The points are redeemed automatically for B&N gift cards, plus we get an automatic 10% off the price, even on sale books. If we use the B&N credit card we get another 10% credit, applied to the monthly bill. But since we use that card for 90% of our purchases, we just accumulate a lot of gift cards. Periodically we hit the (last few) remaining stores and walk out with a bag or two crammed full of books for which we paid nothing. Last week we bought over $100 of books with gift cards and still had two left over, with another five coming to us in the next month, due to some big remodeling expenditures. Works out great; we pay the card off every month and don't have to pay interest, either. Of course, once B&N goes under (sad, but inevitable), we'll have to decide what kind of charge card to use next: points or cash? But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

I do think it's hard to make up fantastical worlds that are vastly different from the one in which we currently live and it still be relatable. My biggest gripe in scifi/fantasy is, the sky is the limit!, so why does the alien life form have to be humanoid, replete with all the same sensory organs. My son tells me it's this relatable thing. I dunno. Maybe it is. My point is, I don't know how to make up a fantastical world, what could be done differently, etc. It'd be a tough task, no doubt.

Merry, I read Michael Jenkins' A House in Flanders several years ago . . . and may have recommend it here. Well worth reading with his descriptions of the Aunts, the way of life and the surroundings. Although we think of Flanders as being in Belgium, in fact the 'house' was over the border in France. I was surprised that MJ was able to speak such good French, remembering what French lessons were like in England! I believe he went on to become a diplomat. yoyo, sorry I can't help you with your title. Was the book set in the US?

I have several from the expensive to the cheap and my favorite portable one is very inexpensive and I got it at Barnes and Noble. See the link....
The batteries last a good long time and it's very adjustable. I can use it on my ereader as well as a regular book, if the power goes out.

For reading in bed, though- I use a Littlight- I mounted the base to the back of the headboard and the LED light is flexible and works off of electricity, comes with a little transformer that plugs in. I've had it for over 9 years and I'm still using the original bulb. And it's on for at least an hour every night, sometimes a lot longer if I fall asleep while I'm reading. I used to use the Itty Bitty Book Light by Zelco, but it went thru bulbs like crazy and they were $5 each, it got too pricey to enjoy using it.

I LOVE my Littlight, though!

I have two and since I no longer need them with my lit Kindle...I keep them in my stew bag to loan out to passengers when their reading light isn't working...I rarely have to loan them out...but the passengers are thrilled when I have one to loan!!

I have several different ones but no longer need them for reading since all our tablets are back lighted. I do use them in different ways. I keep one on the bedside table so I can grab it and clip it onto my top when I have to make a bathroom run in the middle of the night, lights my way, disturbs no one. I do the same in the RV. I also have one clipped on the visor in the car. I have used them as cap lights too. I bought packages with several in them at Big lots. Gave some to my sister because she has the Kindle that requires a light.

I used to have a couple of them when I did a lot of camping in California. I liked to read in my tent before I went to sleep.
