Yes, it would work! I did a similar setup in my previous home. Used a "normal" bathroom vanity cabinet (with two doors) for the sink side and then a three drawer cabinet next to it. I wanted drawer space! Then just got a top which fit the entire length - 48", adding some for over lap.

Yes you design a bathroom run of cabinets just like a kitchen when the exact single cabinet size with the configuration you want is not available.

I looked at the specs for your sink and although an install could be done in an 18" wide cab I would go with at least 21" inches for wiggle room and plumbing. You can get single door cabs up to 24" wide. That's a good sized sink and undermounting to solid surface doesn't allow you to steal space like a drop in installation does.

You don't say if the install is between two walls or if one end is open. Also a framed cabinet allows you to go with pretty much the whole 48 inches. A frameless cabinet would require a starter piece at each wall for door and/or drawer clearance.

The sink side cabinet will be 18" deep...from the wall to the outer edge of the cabinet. It will be 24" wide from side-to-side. Will the larger Kathryn sink fit there?

The overall cabinet will be open on both ends. It won't touch a wall on either end. I guess it will be "framed."

When updating our master bath; changed the vanity, tub, and shower but left the tile, we custom ordered the vanity from Home Depot. We got a Kraftmaid cabinet and I think they just put together different cabinets at the factory. You can get it in any configuation or size you want. Also any wood and stain color.

I misread your original post and didn't see that you stated a 24" width for the sink side. Bear in mind that the sink is deckless so you will have to allow clearance behind it for the faucet. It could get a bit tight after allowing for front and rear clearance. With the sink at about 13 inches front to back with an 18" depth of counter top that leaves you 6 inches left over for front and back. Of course an over-hang gains you some space also but an integrated back splash could easily take some away (about 1/2"). If you do solid surface like Corian or Avonite etc. coving takes another 1/2" to 5/8".

Be sure you know what faucet your will be using before ordering your sink and cabinetry. Decide on the counter top material and whether you will have a back splash and whether it will be coved or not. If you have the space and can go with a 21" depth it would be easy as pie. With an 18" depth it can still be done with careful planning and templating.

The walls are going to be removed, so the plumber can easily install a wall-mounted facet. From the flat wall, coming toward the center of the sink, how far does the faucet need to reach in?

...Does the facuet lenght need to stop before or after the drain hole?

...How high should the faucet be above the counter top?

The Kathryn undermount sink comes in two sizes. The first is

Exterior dimensions: 23-3/4"L x 15-5/8"W
Interior dimensions: 21-3/8"L x 13-1/8"W

The second is:

Exterior dimensions: 19-3/4"L x 15-5/8"W
Interior dimensions: 17"L x 13"W

Would this be too small for a useable bathroom sink for washing hands, faces, and brushing teeth?

Also, Kohler offers a deeper (4 1/2 inches) 17x13 Katheryn sink without the overflow holes. Would this work in the bathroom? If I mush have overflow holes, I want them installed so you don't see them when you stand at the sink.

I would go with the larger since the front to back dimension is only 1/8" different and your base cab is plenty wide enough to handle the extra width. I just think the more pronounced rectangular look is nice. Remember also that the depth will automatically increase by the thickness of the counter top.

Some plumbing codes require that bathroom sinks have overflow holes. Of course you would install the sink so the holes are hidden in the front unlike the picture on the Kohler website.

I have no idea what the actual height in inches would be for a wall mount faucet but I'm confident they would be in the specs/installation instructions.

I'm not even trying for beautiful. "Clean, dry, and serviceable," will thrill me. Everything will be white, except for the vanity; with black accents.

I was wondering why Kohler would show the overflow holes facing the person. With our hard water the overflow drain is stained and rough, even with careful cleaning. I don't want it in my face everytime I brush my teeth!

I've purchased a ventilation fan with light and heater; a Panasonic Whipser Quiet. The bathroom does not have a window; it's an inside room, so moisture control is first and foremost. The heater is a necessity, too.

I want to remove the tub and have a large shower instead; Wes is holding out for the tub (which we never use) for resale value. There's no room for a tub and separate shower in the 7x9 ft. bathroom.

We'll have a linoleum or laminate floor; the walls will have white tiles up to chair rail height, and a yet-undertermined color (or not) on the upper walls.

Plain white Kathryn tub, and one-piece ADA-height toilet with a black seat.

For the countertop surface, have you considered using recycled glass? We first saw this featured on a Living With Ed episode on HGTV. The company they used is Vetrazzo. Here's a link to their sample that would work in your white bathroom. It's called Cubist Clear.
