I'm almost finished "The House at Riverton" by Kate Morton, I really like it. I have "Sarah's Key" by Tatiana De Rosnay to start next.

Just started "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. Having a hard time getting into it, but I've heard so much about it that I will try to stay with it.

I have taken a break for Louise Erdrich for a while. I love her books and her style but she is not always an easy read.

I just finished The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and am now reading the next in the trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire. It's gooooOoood.

Just got the book-- the Story of Charlotte's Web, by Michael Sims. EB White's eccentric life, and the writing of the classic. We recently saw the puppet show production of Charlote's Web, at The Center for Puppetry Arts, and it prompted me to find out more.

Next is, Cutting For Stone.

I'm reading "Smokin 17" by Evanovich...good but not as good as some of the others have been...I can't wait for the movie "One For The Money"..

Yesterday I started "The Quest for Anna Klein" by Thomas Cook. DH and I have both enjoyed his books, including:

These are not 'light reading'.

Wanda, I too had a tough time getting into Atlas Shrugged but a book store owner once told me reading it changed his whole view on life so I kept on. It's now one of my all time favorite books. In fact I found my copy this weekend while cleaning out my library and considered re-reading it, then I looked at my huge "to be read" pile and said ... "nah." :-)

I'm just starting "Little Bee and am still working on a collection of short stories by Tolstoy and Jack London's Call of the Wild.

I don't know why I insist on having more than one book going at a time, but I always do. One I read while drying my hair in the morning. One is always with me on my Kindle and one is sitting in my living room.

I just discovered Deborah Smith and her novels about the south. I was very surprised and enjoyed reading her books, Sweet Hush and the Crossroads Cafe. I couldn't put my Kindle down! I'm going to start another one of her's but not sure which one yet.

Just finished The Help, which I thought was great. I also have more than one book going, one of which is Call of the Wild!! Then there is the book of short stories, Murder British Style, which I read while I'm having lunch. I also just finished Stone Diaries, which I thought I had read years ago. So glad that I decided to read it, as I very obviously had not done so before. It was one of those books that you would truly recall.

I had to stop reading what I was reading to read Janet Evanovich's new one Smokin 17, she always releases her new book right at my birthday so I know that will be one of my gifts. I am a huge fan of hers. I really enjoyed this one also. It is one set that I do keep in real book form. I do have the ebook also. Her books always make me laugh out loud, the cast of characters is priceless!

Now that I finished that one I am back to reading Harlan Coben Live Wire

Just finished Dean Koontz 'Relentless'. Loved it!

This summer I've read The Awakening by Kate Chopin, Letters of a Woman Homesteader by Elinore Pruitt Stewart, Sisters by Kathleen Thompson Norris, and Their Last Suppers: Legends of History and Their Final Meals.

I just finished 2 E. M. Forster novels - A Passage to India and Howard's End. Next is A Room With a View.

Four more chapters of book number 20, "Alexandria" in a book series of 21; Lindsey Davis's "Marcus Didius Falco" mysteries. They take place in ancient Rome and are a great read, funny and informative, and a good mystery every one of them. I'm a little apprehensive about the last one "Nemesis", as I sneaked a peek at the synopsis inside the cover and it says our hero "is in deep bereavement" as the book begins. Who died???? Will it be in the last four chapters of the book I'll finish tonight? :(

I'm half way through the book:
"The Grayhill Spectre" by Carolyn Ritacca,
Underground Publications, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

We know the author and the copy I'm reading is an authgraphed, first edition. The author has asked me to review her work and give her a report. This is her first public publication, although she has written many grant applications for various organizations.

Its exciting to read a "first" by one of my friends. The main character is simiiar to a Spiderman type. He has hidden, but useful powers. The first book is about how these powers are having a very negative impact on his private life, and his personal struggle with deciding to put the Spectre on the shelf for good.

So far, the book has been a good read. I can recommend it to the younger audience since it has a very low count of vulgar words, like almost can't find any. The authoress has managed to convey characters, some unsavory, without resorting to a liberal sprinkling of vulgarity, an unusal trait in today's publications.

I am pleasantly surprised by her work.

I'm nearly finished with "Room" by Emma Donoghue. It caught my interest since it reminds me of a local case in which a couple I know and worked with for 10 years kidnapped a young girl and kept her imprisoned for 18 years (Dugard). It was unfathomable that this could have gone on under our very noses, but it did.

I am reading George Bush's book Decision Points and really enjoying it.

About halfway through Dragonfly in Amber the second in the Outlander series. Hasn't grabbed me like Outlander did. Next up A Dance With Dragons. Absolutletly love this series.

"Atonement Child" by Francine Rivers

Well I just finished "Sarah's Key" and loved it. I just requested 2 books from the library, "Cutting for Stone" and "Room".

Sarah's Key is one of my favorites even though details in parts of the story are so difficult to imagine.

Cutting for Stone, another wonderful book.

I plan on reading Room hopefully some time in the next few months.

So many books, so little time ... sigh
