I made the front page...

...of our local newspaper! A local dog groomer/trainer/kennel owner puts together an event every year called Dog Days of Summer. She invites various dog groups, rescue shelters for homeless animals, and search and rescue groups, and K-9 police units to put on demonstrations. She called me at the beginning of the summer and asked me to bring some of my agility equipment and give talk and a demo. I put her in touch with two other organizations I belong to and next thing you know I'm the coordinator. I managed to get our local kennel club to put on a mock conformation demo, the obedience instructor in our other club to put on a Rally obedience demo, and flyball, and the guy that comes over and gives us sheep herding lessons, to give a herding demo. The lady from the paper was so interested in agility, that she talked to me for about 10 minutes. Imagine my surprise when I opened the paper yesterday and there I was! My dog was also pictured in an inside shot going thru the weave poles. Nice article, by the way, of some of the other groups, but I got two paragraphs and the only two pictures! That should really help my business. I saw a lot of people yesterday and got a lot of compliments on the article and the photos. They say pictures don't lie, but if that's true, then I better do a lot more walking! But it was neat and I'm not complaining.

MS Frontpage loves to create web pages that are only viewable from a MS Windows server by using IE. This compeletly throws away the original design of the world wide web as an open community accessible by everyone. If you want to make a webpage that everyone can view (only 70% of browsers are IE, 25% are Firefox, 5% Opera, netscape, Mozilla), then I suggest coding it by hand in straight XHTML with CSS for the design. You can pick up books on both subjects. I highly recommend this approach as it gives you a greater understanding of what is going on, and allows you to do more.

Keeping graphics URLs in Front Page?

This is sort of a moot point now, since I am not using Front Page anymore, but this was an existing page with existing images; I didn't do anything at all to the images or the references to them. Evidently when the program opened the file to edit it changed the image URL - maybe it downloaded the pictures too and linked to them on my computer instead - at any rate, when I uploaded the file the URL was wrong. I had a similar problem on Netscape Composer, although now it only does it for some images. I think I found a box that said don't change the original file, or something. I supposed there's something similar in Front Page but it must be buried deeper. And Lazygardens, I DID look at the help files. If it was that easy to find the answer I wouldn't have bothered writing to the forum. As with a lot of programs, if you don't already have some idea of how the program works, it's very hard to know how to frame the question to get the answer you need. Sorry Reba I just realised I misunderstood the question - DOH! You want the clicked picture smaller? OK here's directions to do it in Paintshop. File - open - find file you want eg: doll.jpg Image - resize - Pixel size(top box) Make your biggest measurement about 250 pixels. **Make sure the "maintain aspect ratio" is ticked (bottom of box)** Click OK File - export - jpeg optimizer You'll see two windows of your image one shows it uncompressed the 2nd shows the image compressed this is what you will be showing on the webpage. Set compression value as high as possible without losing picture quality - try to stay under 25,000 bytes. Click OK Save. Now it should be a good size for people to view and will load quite fast and is ready to be put on your webpage and made into a thumbnail. Good Luck. Sue :)

Natal, here we're all friends. It's been my experience that people usually feel strongly one way or the other about my kind of work. I had a discussion on HT awhile back and that is where the discussion belongs. I like everyone here and don't want differences to get in the way of my friendships. This is the home decorating forum, after all. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it but I couldn't help myself. I had no one else to tell! :)

Ok, I'm giving this a try. Don't know if it will work. Cracker's photo going thru the weaves isn't in the online article. And her name is "Cracker", singular, not a box of!!

The link worked perfectly. It was an excellent article. What a great business. I would hire you in a heartbeat if you lived in my neck of the woods! May I ask the breed of your dog? He looks very colorful in the photo and you look marvelous.

Cracker is a she, and 10 years old. She is an Australian Shepherd, blue merle. She is retired from agility, but makes a great demo dog because of her enthusiasm and love of the "game". Don't tell her it's work, she won't believe you! "Agility is running flat out for 58 seconds while negotiating turns and directing you dog."

Where are you? I'd love to get my 2 dogs into agility, just for the fun of it (1 Scottie, 1 Min. Greyhound)I've thought about setting up a little agility area in our yard, but DH doesn't like it when he has to mow around stuff!
