Leaving for church in about 45 minutes, then scrapbooking this afternoon. Don't work too hard!

Going to church, then maybe up to the river. I'm usually excited to go to the river. But since my sister kicked her alcoholic son out of her house, he's parked up there. UGHHHH.

We're headed out in 30 min to go to our BIG Wagon Wheel Flea Market.

My plans are to stay home and work today. I should be outside now before it gets too hot. I do have to go out around noon and check on Ken, the old man I look after who lives about 20 miles away, but plan to come straight home after that. I purposely slept late this morning. I have been very sleep deprived, taking care of Vernon, and had so much running to do every day, and getting evening chores done very late at night.

I will also be taking Vernon's updated pic and posting that today.

I have to finish my grocery shopping today. I really need to get some big, black garbage bags to use outside. Which is probably what I'm going to do, pull weeds later this evening.

I'm cooking some chicken breasts right now so I can use them in a salad for my "breakfast" and later for soft tacos for dinner. I woke up at about 8:30 with a massive backache so slept another 2 hours on the loveseat in the livingroom, sitting up.

We're off to a wedding reception this afternoon.

On the way back we are picking up/bringing our oldest Grandson home with us for a few days. I'll take him to get his school stuff on Monday, and swimming Tuesday.I think DH is going to take him crabbing when he comes home from work.

Sometime today I need to fold one load of laundry and toss the next in the dryer, do the dishes and vacuum..In my spare time LOL! Kathy

I was up at 5am to drop hubster at the airport...just getting back up...and gonna put the THIRD coat of Burgandy paint on my basement kitchen walls...then just play the rest of the day by ear!! When Hubster's gone I usually try to get my noisy projects done!!

Church and then I'm feeding all the Tyler bunch. Hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, and the trimmings, plus a Birthday cake for the oldest GS. He was 17 Thurs. I'm truly getting old!

I'm retired so every day is an open book. I'll do some housework. My family room from HE** is full of boxes I took out when I was trying to organize the closet. It's such a mess I can't even walk down there. So Sunday is not my day of rest. I'll be cleaning all day. And it's raining , that makes it even worse. I can't walk to the garbage outside to throw anytrhing out. DH is making meatballs up in the kitchen. Delicious, but the kitchen will be a total mess!

Turning compost, making new compost in the empty bins, then running to town to grocery shop. Looks like rain and I'm glad of it!!

Church this morning, brought Mom back to my place for a mid-day meal. Did dishes and getting the place picked up. Then errands and I have to pack. Leaving Tuesday for 8 days away with my eldest nephew. Have to work Monday, so I'm sure they'll want me to work late.

We had so much fun yesterday at the Lake, but today we had to pack up and go home.

My DD & SIL bought a Moomba Wake Boat and we had a blast watching the young people Surf and Wake Board. The other boat happened to show up at the same spot and was purchased on the same day from the same dealer. They met at the Dealership.

After napping in the car during the 24 hour jaunt down to NC from Ontario, beginning Fri. evening, I had a good sleep last night (after doing some email stuff and posting here after most Korea missionary reunion folks had gone to bed, I was up rather early (for me), waking at 7:20 a.m. (didn't know how to set the alarm on the bedside radio).

Had to be in the dining hall for breakfast before 8:00 ... and I'd neglected to bring my razor from the car prior to lock up, so it was a fast clean-up.

After breakfast there was a presentation for upwards of an hour about the various international and voluntary organization activities to help the people of North Korea have food (there was terrible flooding last fall, with three plantings of the crop that they use to make one of their staple foods - kim-chee, for those familiar with Korean cusine, and the final planting only growing to about a third normal height). They were telling also of bringing medical and educational supplies, capital goods, as well as food - generators to bring light to hospital operating rooms, and power the equipment, as much of it did not last long on the low-voltage current from the mains.

There is increasing trust and cooperation among the foreign-based agencies working there, and a build up of it between them and their Korean counterparts - North Korea has been substantially isolated from most of the rest of the world for so long.

When various missionary agencies agreed to work in various areas of the country about a century ago, the Presbyterians in Canada (later the United Church, after several denominations united), were assigned the north-east section of the country and some in Manchuria. Though none of us who were there 50 years ago had ever been to the North, we havbe long held a soft spot in our hearts for that area, and we are especially pleased to see the thawing that is taking place there.

Then we had a hynmn sing for a while and a worsip, including reading the names of colleagues who had died within the three years since the last gathering - two pages, smallish print, with two or three descriptive lines for each.

I was able to meet several of my friends, though I was only here for a short part of the program - with some of the Canadian group having come whom I hadn't expected.

A good supper last evening, breakfast this morning and a delicious lunch has fuelled me for a time ... and I'm crying the blues over gas being $3.99 and $4.00 in this area - but not too large tears, as I filled at lower prices earlier and my little Mazda sort of sips gas (enhanced by my turning off the key and coasting sometimes on downhills - when there's no one close behind). And they have quite a few of those downhills in Kentucky and NC ... I felt a sense of respect for the folks who'd chopped off the large volumes of rock in the hills to dump into the vallies to build the roads, years ago.

After yakking to you folks, I'm off across country to visit my niece in n-w GA ... and, leaving hastily, I forgot to bring her address, but I do remember the name of the street. I wrote her family in Alberta to ask them to send it ... but they appear to have not received the message.

Anyway - missionaries (and former ones) have to learn to fly by faith (don't we all have to do that, a good deal of the time?).

Last trip, I had a bit of a job finding their location, as Gainesville seems to be spread all over the map.

Anyway - wish me luck.

Plan to return to Ontario just before next weekend ... and Pooh Bear's to be vacationing, so won't see him.

Start planning for your retirement - remember, every retired day is on (hopefully, prepaid) vacation. If it isn't prepaid, and one chooses to retire, or has the choice made for them, there's likely a problem down the road, for lack of food tends to make one seek re-employment at an advanced age (unless one plans to die within a few months/years of retirement - improbable with clergy or missionaries, as they tend to live to advanced ages.

Going to see The Prince, the name DD uses for the first grandchild on both sides of the family. Will babysit him (19 mos old) with DH and take him over to my brother's while his parents are out. There we will dine al fresco in their yard, which is frequented by ducks and squirrels because my SIL feeds them. Brother has a lovely wine cellar too. Our Prince loves to run around and watch the critters while we enjoy visiting and eating. Then home with him for an hour later bedtime than usual.

Today, I made potatoe salad for supper to have with hamburgers, and I made a chocolate pie. I also made a shepherd's pie for tomorrow. I took the dogs out too. I got a late start because I slept in.
