It's the same here in Georgia....you do what needs to be done outside in the cool of the morning or in the evening when the sun has gone down.

I live in Texas too, and I know what you mean about the heat. I "melt down" three or four times a day....get so sweaty that I have to change my shirts. I have a lot of outside things to take care of, and there is no avoiding it.

It's great in the winter months when we don't have to deal with snow usually but the summer months can really zap the energy out of you. Especially on the really humid days when it's feels like you have to cut a chunk of air to breathe.
My atrium looks beautiful with all the beautiful plants and flowers but if they are not heavily watered daily they are very droopy and unhappy. The heat zaps them too.
The flower beds have soaker hoses that come on automatically daily which is great because I just couldn't handle getting out there to water all of them.

But I definitely love Texas! (not as much as Louisiana)

Fortunately I live in an area of TX where we rarely have the humidity associated with TX...the Hill Country...but we don't escape the heat..It has been my policy to just get up early, get out there and get it done and get back in before it gets too hot..It takes so long in the afternoon evening that it just isn't worth it for me to do it in the evening. My husband doesn't like to eat until 7 so that is about the time it starts cooling and that ruins it for me...

I am had all but one of my gardening boxes removed as my Gardening days are over...hopefully I can manage a few tomato plants maybe but not much else...But it has to be in the early morning for me...I love Texas but the hot summers make it hard to garden...it's great for growing mind you, but the labor is a beast.

I avoid doing anything outside in midday here in northeast PA! It's 5:45 as I write this, and I just came in to take a little break from mowing. I'll be going back out in a few minutes.

Unfortunately, it's too wet to mow in the early morning, but I sometimes go outside in my rubber boots to do some garden chores, being careful not to touch the wet beans.

Actually, I wear those boots all the time outside now--part of my effort to avoid more tick bites.

I'm very sensitive to heat. It saps my strength, so I try to do chores in the very early morning.

It's like that here in Oklahoma too. If I can't get to it before noon, it won't get done, to HOT!

now don't get me wrong can't stand the heat, but today the inside temp of the house was 67! it really was a lovely day in mi in the car...

Can't complain about the weather today or the last two days. Warm, sunny and dry! Such a rare summer treat here in SE PA. I am sitting here with the windows open, beautiful breezes, no AC. Aaaah.

Back to the soupy humidity this week. Ugh. I am another who simply cannot function in the heat and humidity. We also have a lot of gnats that make gardening difficult no matter the temps. I get nearly everything done in the spring so my main garden chore all summer is watering the containers.

currently 86 degrees and 61% humidity in North Houston, not as bad as it has been. We have been having afternoon thundershowers almost every day and that is when it really gets bad with that high humidity level.

Weather Underground shows it to be 90 degrees here south of Houston and I feel like I'm in one of those radiation zones where you can only go in for so many minutes.
I'm working outside for 15 minutes at a time then inside in front of a fan. Will probably do that for another hour or so. The day lilies are already here so they need to be planted soon, so my goal today is to pull all the ratty wildflowers and maybe start planting tomorrow.
