This is a photo of me in 1984 at an art installation in LA by my favorite art teacher Slater Baron also known as "The Lint Lady". She created entire scenes and "paintings" using nothing but lint. This particular installation was dedicated to her parents who were both suffering from Alzheimers.

Slater was such a hit at the time that she was featured on several TV shows like "Real People" and "That's Incredible".

To this day I can't clean out my dryer lint trap without thinking of her. :-) She and I reconnected five years ago and she is now on my Facebook friend list. Very cool lady.

Jodi, I saw a TV program about the lint artist. Now anytime I have colored lint, I wish I knew where to mail it. The grey stuff--I'm sure she has plenty of that. But when I wash the red blanket...wow, pretty colored lint! Thanks for the picture. Her work is amazing.

I took this several years ago but I still have the same big Mexican sage bush and the same kind of hummingbirds visiting.

carol_in_california, your hummingbird is an Allen. They are similar to the Rufous, except that Allens have a green back instead of an orange back, & the Rufous has a more "chattery" voice.

Wonderful picture! My hummingbirds love the Mexican sage too. My DH keeps wanting to rip it out because it gets messy, but I won't let him because the HBs like it so much.
