They're beautiful, Casey!

It's summer, so I had to take a swallowtail picture:

There are just a few of the lillies that are still blooming.

Has anyone tried to cut them back after they have bloomed to bloom again? My sis said that that would work...I cut some back last night....we will see. (DH doesn't think it will work, but I figured we had nothing to lose!)

We had dear friends come visit us last weekend for my birthday. We are trying to convince them to move closer to us where it is cooler (they live in Palm Springs now). We drove them all around south Orange County, took in the Laguna Beach Sawdust Festival and drove up and down the coast.

In a beach town ten miles from our home named Corona Del Mar there is a residence my husband calls the Whale House. It's incredible wood shake roof is shaped like a whale's head with a small window for an eye and a row of teeth overhanging a wall that looks much like baleen. It's tough to get a good photo of it, but here it is.

Casey,I love that starfish. I didn't know that they came in such bright colors.

Alisande, I followed a butterfly like that for an hour yesterday. He couldn't seem to decide where to land, and I gave up. I am sure that you got a better pic than I would have. A question for you. You gave the info on the micro lens that you are using on your Panasonic Lumix camera a couple days ago. Can you tell me what model your camera is? I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7. I am wondering if that lens would work for it.

Bee Balm is Monarda, and Gazania's is gorgeous!! I have several different kinds and I love them all, but they never look as beautifully shaped as the one pictured. I guess our t-storms don't help.

Gazania, I have basically the same camera (an FZ5, the previous year's model), so I'm sure it would work with yours. But Raynox has a lens compatibility chart, so you might take a look.
