Alisande, here are PA Leatherwings doing what comes naturally. Like Jap Beetles, you will more likely see them like this than not. Unfortunately, this year I am not seeing Leatherwings is large numbers like is past years.

We put peanuts on the porch railing every morning, our Bluejays have them gone within minutes.

A swarm of ants. That is a sidewalk space (ya know that space between sections of sidewalk).

A rainbow in our yard a couple of weeks ago.

and at the end of our driveway looking across the neighbor's field.

Gazania, the trail is part of the East Coast Trail system, a trail that runs over 260km and connects 32 communities. It is a registered charity organization and run by volunteers. You can read about the trail at the link below.

nicole and Jim's photos remind me of this weekend when I was cutting up some trees that had been cut down be the power company. In one segment of the log when I starting cutting it, thousands of big black carpenter ants came swarming out. Including many jumbo-sized winged ones that probably wanted to start a new colony by eating my house. Perhaps unwisely I used gasoline on the hollow center of the log and lit it.

Nicole do you know what type of ants those are? And how big were they?

I have a picture of leaf cutting ants in Costa Rica, but not a very good one.
