Comments (11)nicole and Jim's photos remind me of this weekend when I was cutting up some trees that had been cut down be the power company. In one segment of the log when I starting cutting it, thousands of big black carpenter ants came swarming out. Including many jumbo-sized winged ones that probably wanted to start a new colony by eating my house. Perhaps unwisely I used gasoline on the hollow center of the log and lit it. Nicole do you know what type of ants those are? And how big were they? Comments (11)This is Crimson Stella my longest and most prolific bloomer. Introduced by Lowes, 7 maybe 8 years ago .The 'Ruby Stella' may be the same daylily. There was a lot of talk among daylily officialdom as to who was who at the time. I love it. Comments (10)This red squirrel has been entertaining us daily for weeks in his efforts to get to the feeders. First he goes up the pole....no good. Then he goes into the shrub on the left...no go, so then he tries the shrub on the right, nope again. So he tries the maple tree behind. That doesn't work either. So it's back to the drawing board. Sooner or later he is going to succeed....See More

9 years agoThis week, I took two separate groups of friends to historical Old City for an American Revolution adventure. This city is replete with interesting details of the people and the birth of the United States that you never get bored.
Here is the Liberty bell (you can see Independence Hall to the left of it).
George Washington statue in front of Independence Hall (where the Declaration of Independence was signed) . He is looking at all the tourists taking pictures of him and the hall:).

9 years agoSaw this pretty planter at one of my neighbor's on our walk this morning. Have been meaning to take a photo. May have to do this next year as it just says 'summer' to me.
