hi, Pat, Thank you for the Independence Day wishes and I'm glad to hear you're doing better. I like what you said, Ingrid. I especially love that sentence in the Declaration of Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Because we are all created equal and in the image of our Creator, we have the responsibility to treat each other with respect, knowing that we are all entitled to pursue life, liberty and happiness. Our freedoms to worship God and to pursue our dreams are precious indeed.

My DH & I are DJing a car show all weekend. Tonight I'm baking car-shaped cakes for chances & bread for a bake sale. We've volunteered at car shows ever since we first got together 14 years ago. We have games for the kids & adults, contests, rod jousting, a burnout competition, trophies & a dance in the evenings. We have a 1960 Chrysler Imperial & a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite (both unfinished) & an 03 Dodge Caravan with painted flames. We'll go to our city park to watch the fireworks (50% chance of rain here). Some years, we have fireworks at the car show. Have fun Karyn, I keep forgetting to get your stamps. We have a Jack Nicholson golf course at Rocky Gap State Park, maybe your husband would like to play there & we could visit. Golf = boring to me, too. Linda

We got through the Fourth fireworks without rain...just lightening got pretty close so we finished up and left a few. The kids went out very early the next morning and did them! Made ice cream and cooked out. Both kids were down....quite a crowd with one's cat and one's dog in the house too! We just got a light shower. Still needing a good rain. Helen, you you mean you are going to help her weed for daylilies? That's a good deal if the ground is soft and it is cool and didn't last over two hours!

Happy 4th to All! This my favorite holiday and also the day my mother died, so I am going to set aside all things political along with any negative thoughts that try to take hold in my brain and enjoy the day. Time to reflect, think about my mom and live in the moment. One of the local churches has a pie sale on the 4th. Those church ladies make wonderful pies and I always get there too late to get a slice of pecan pie. This morning I got up early, walked down to the church and was one of the first in line. They only had half a pecan pie left, but I got my slice and, my oh my, was it ever good! After that, I walked over to the local pub and had one of their famous bloody marys. Wasnt much later and it was time to watch the parade. Hubby and I are now resting/relaxing. In a bit we are going to bbq some burgers. What a great day it's been! From last year's parade:
