Amidst all the troubling recent political events that affect our great country (and myself and my family) I still have hope for a better future, but I am not happy, this 4th.

Hopefully, reason and common sense will ultimately prevail, but I see a lot of pain between now and then.

Happy 4th everyone. Hopefully, today we can celebrate our Country and just

try to keep in mind what it really is.....and will be come again.

Today would have been my mother's 114th birthday, if she were living. I don't celebrate any holidays, really. But, on the 4th, I always think of her. I would be a whole lot happier though, if this rain would let up long enough for me to go out and finish up my morning chores.

Having my sons in for dinner. We will all be staying indoors as todays temps will reach 105... too hot for man, beast or bbq grill.

Happy 4th! Today will reach I think close to 112 degrees. We are going to a party tonight. It’s going to be hot!

We are having a BBQ party today however currently Houston is drowning and flooding again. Major rain storm. Luckily we have a breezeway that hubby has his smoker in and is able to cook the ribs and pork loin. It's supposed to move out by the time of the party. Fingers crossed! Keeping busy with food prep is helping to keep my PTSD lowered. But seeing the water rising so fast and flooded roads is scary.

Just what you do NOT need, Raven. I hope the rain stops and the water goes down. I'm sure you just panic every time you get those heavy rains. And it makes such a mess for Marilyn too.

I've been thinking of you this morning, Raven. I haven't had the tv or radio on because I have been watching youtube videos, but I know Houston has gotten a lot of rain. Hope everything is okay where you live. The bayou isn't even up here, but like I've said many times (famous last words) we don't flood here....except following Harvey, we almost drowned.

It's just muddy, here, Linda. I have to be careful to not slip down. I need to get some more rubber boots. My last pair got bogged down in the mud last winter and I stepped out of them and they are still right there where I left them. I said right then...it is time to leave this place! I need to go out and give the horses some hay. I can't decide if I should wear a poncho and try to not get really wet, or should I just go out there and get wet....I will have to change my clothes anyway when I come in. We really needed the rain, though.

Happy 4th! Just finished watching our small town parade. The main theme was "Rosie the Riviter" very well done.

There is flash flooding in Houston now. Water is up to the back of my apt patio but it is running off so unless the rain suddenly increases I will be OK. Sending thoughts and prayers to Raven and Marilyn that they don't get flooded.

It's getting better! Rain is lessening. But I feel so bad for the people who had their homes flood again! One in Spring had flooded Tax day and Harvey and was just back in their house. It wasn't deep but enough to cause a problem.

Happy 4th to All! This my favorite holiday and also the day my mother died, so I am going to set aside all things political along with any negative thoughts that try to take hold in my brain and enjoy the day. Time to reflect, think about my mom and live in the moment.

One of the local churches has a pie sale on the 4th. Those church ladies make wonderful pies and I always get there too late to get a slice of pecan pie. This morning I got up early, walked down to the church and was one of the first in line. They only had half a pecan pie left, but I got my slice and, my oh my, was it ever good!

After that, I walked over to the local pub and had one of their famous bloody marys. Wasnt much later and it was time to watch the parade. Hubby and I are now resting/relaxing. In a bit we are going to bbq some burgers.
