I love when you have everyone invited bring a baby picture of themselves and then play a game by holding up each picture and everyone has to guess who it is. Very fun.

We just played the 'how big is mommy's tummy?' game at my DIL's shower. The guests cut a length of yarn as big as they think the expectant mom's tummy is and then everyone gets to fit the yarn around the mom to be. A lot of fun and super simple to gather yarn and scissors.

The creative one I liked had everyone hold a paperplate on top of their heads and draw a picture of the baby on top. It's really hard. Then the mommy pics the picture they like the best and they win a prize

Buy a bag of small safety pins. Everyone gets a pin to pin on them. When you all sit to watch the expectant mom open the gifts, every time a guest crosses hers legs, the guest must relinquish her pin. The last person to still have the pin, wins the prize. It's amazing how difficult it is for women to sit and not cross their legs.

Put a safety pin on everyone when they arrive. The rules are you can't say the word baby or pregnant (actually you can choose whatever word you want). If someone says that word and another guest hears it they lay claim to the safety pin and attach it to their own. The one who has the most pins at the end of the afternoon wins.

Guess how many q-tips, cotton swabs, whatever are in a jar. Closest guess wins.

This is a really fun game and rarely does anyone get them all right.

Buy 10 or so jars of similar looking baby food, remove the labels and add your own, labeling them 1 - 10. (Make sure you know which is which of course). Guests can not open the jars. Print a list of what baby food you purchased and your guests will have to figure out which one is in which jar. I print sheets of paper labeled 1 - 10 for them to write their answer or you can have two columns, one side labeled 1-10 and the other what baby food you purchased.

We usually hand out the thank you card envelopes, for each guest to fill out with name and address. Then these are placed in a container and pulled out one by one for prizes periodically while the gifts are being opened.

But we tend to have several small items so that every person gets a gift, rather than a few larger things for only a few people to win.

There is also gift bingo. Print out empty bingo grids and ask the guests to fill out the squares with names of items they THINK might be opened. Then as the gifts are opened, they cross off the items. Bingo for one line, two lines, four corners, full card, etc.

If you are giving out name tags or pins (we call them favours), make one of them special somehow. Like a blue ribbon, something that is not too noticeable. Then give a prize to the person that gets the 'special' favour.

Dances.

I was also going to suggest person whose birthday is closest to the due date.

Another super easy way to give prizes is to put a sticker on the bottom of a seat or plate. Whoever gets the sticker gets a prize. Often done so that one person at each table gets a gift or takes home the centerpiece. :)

My DD and DIL hate shower games, for my DD's shower we had colored 3x5 cards people put their name and address and what they brought~~every half hour my DGD drew a name out and they won a prize. My DD said she loved it, made it so easy for her to do her Thank You's. As people left we gave out See's suckers with it's a girl stickers wrapped together with pink it's a girl pencils. All easy.

DIL's shower was so big there would have been no way to play games and she did not want to anyway. My family loves to do big whole family showers. DIL, loves them also~but her mom did not. it caused a bit of a problem between DIL and her mom~~finally her mom got on board and loved it in the end;)

Not a game, but a fun idea from a recent shower...
Have a supply of newborn diapers
Provide guests with stick-on labels
Have guests write "words of wisdom" or "parenting advice" or "fun thoughts about newborns" on the labels, and stick them on the diapers.
Fun reading for the parents in the "wee" hours!

Not a game exactly but for my daughters shower, I made a "wishes for baby card" that the guests filled out. It had the start of a statement such as I hope you look like, I hope you become, I hope you love etc, the guests complete the sentences. They put their name on the bottom and we used that as a prize drawing. I had them select a pink card or a blue card for what sex they thought the baby would be. This is a little keep sake for my granddaughter someday. The guests seemed to like it also. If you want to do something like this just google "wishes for baby" and you get all sorts of ideas.
