Surgery tomorrow

Hi all. With all the sadness here on this site lately, I really hesitated to post this because at least for now, I'm not that bad off. That said, I still felt a need to touch you all before my surgery tomorrow. I posted a few times here that I was might have to have my thyroid removed. Well, as they say, tomorrow is the day. I have faith that I will be fine so no worries here. I do have a real broken heart from the news about DFN though. I so pray that she does not suffer any longer - It would be wonderful if she could get better and have a healthy life. Not my call on that, so I just pray that she and the family will find peace and healing, no matter. The same to those of you also dealing with life's valleys at the moment.

Hi Mona. Hope you are feeling fine by the time you read this. I'll be thinking of you today and looking forward to more good news about an easy surgery. So sorry to hear about your FIL. This must be a tough time for your husband, with you out of commission, on top of his loss. I know you two are solid, though. You'll both be okay. I hope you are up (figuratively) for the service on Saturday. The only important funeral I ever skipped, due to illness, left me struggling to process my loss. Don't hurt yourself, but do remember the needs of your heart as well as your knee. It is your loss, too. Oy, what a crash course in getting-to-know-you with the son-in-law. My guess is that if your daughter loves him, you will too. It might be good to have him show up at a time when you are not being uber-hostess....could set the tone for a different kind of relationship. (That's spoken as an uber-hostess, myself, mind you!)

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and prayers. It must have helped because everything went well. The only hitch was the surgeon was running an hour late, but the surgery was quick. It was scheduled for 6PM but didn't start till 7PM. DH barely had time to get home to make dinner for him and DS, also Elvira the dog, then eat before turning around and picking me up. I am stone free for now. I go in to see him 2 weeks to get more information on prevention, diet and medicine. Thanks for your well wishes. Clare

I thank you so much for your kind words, your thoughts and prayers. I really cherish each one. I also pray I will do well and be back here where my friends are very soon. A physical therapist will come to my home 5 days a week for 3 weeks, then I start back at the gym. This time I do know what to expect. Ya'll take care, I'll be back before you know it. Are you sure they'll be there? DH was scheduled to have a hernia repair today, and the center called and cancelled yesterday. Don't know where you are, but with the travel restrictions here, one shouldn't be on the roads anyway. He did speak to his dr. and then one of the office personnel today and it looks like he'll be rescheduled for next Monday. Whatever happens, good luck to you with yours.

Gneegirl....Thank you for your kind words and thoughts about my DDIL, DFN. Especially when you are facing your own health difficulties. I hope and pray your surgery is uneventful and takes care of the problems you have been having, and your recovery is fast and you are up and about and back to being yourself soon. Dottie

Hoping all goes well with the surgery!

For the rest of you - piece of cake!! Well, excet for the anesthesia making me think I can do things that I really can't. I think I hold the worlds record for holding a glass of water without spilling it!! I would grab the glass and look up a half hour later and it was still in my hand. For some strange reason I have a lot of muscle soreness that surprises me. Why would that happen - I hope I didn't fight anyone during surgery. The surgery site is fine though. Anyway, I'm back and can almost get back in that saddle. For now, I'm soaking up the sympathetic family members that have stopped by to help - LOL. Thanks guys - KTrs are great!.

I'm glad that everything went well for you. Now, listen to the rules the doctor gave you and don't begin thinking you're super woman or something. Take it easy for as long as it's necessary.
