Good luck. Hopefully surgery & recovery #2 will be as smooth as #1

This is a crazy time for me. In addition to the surgery, my dear FIL passed away last night and the funeral is Saturday. I want to attend, even if in a wheelchair.
And my son in-law has found a wonderful job in our city and will be moving in with us on 10/6 until my daughter's job ends on 12/18 and their home in Raleigh sells.

Normally, I'm a very welcoming hostess and I cook and do all sorts of stuff to make people feel at home, and I'll I'm going to be doing is therapy, sleeping and exercises for the next few weeks.

Poor Chris,a new job in a city he's only visited twice...no friends...and a wife & dog several states away. In addition, we really don't know each other on a close level so we'll be getting to know each other "real quick".

Please think of me; I need positive thoughts coming my way.

Mona, I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. Please don't overdo it after surgery, if you can't make it, I know everyone will understand.

I'm sure Chris won't expect you to be a hostess at this time. He's family now so I'm sure he'll be more than willing to help out around the house. What a great way to bond with your SIL and really get to know each other!

Plus having your baby move back to the same City you live in, well, you should be jumping for joy. After your surgery of course. lol

You'll be fine, plus you have the perfect husband to keep an eye on you. :)

Don't over do anything today,or after your surgery.My neighbor had her knees done several months apart- it is just amazing to see that woman walk up her front steps.She was in her 70s when she had this done, and not an athletic type at all.
Remember , you can be at the funeral in spirit if not in person. You need to take care of yourself first- this aint no mole removal, and you dont want to risk being around a lot of folks so soon after surgery. Why not have a family only quiet remembrance when you are up and around?
This may be a good opportunity to get to know your SIL- as you are without the hostess factor- as an important family member- not company.

Wishing you well and another *no complications* surgery. I'm sorry to hear about your FIL and hope you don't push too hard to attend the funeral unless you are truly up to it. As for your SIL - you have plenty of time to be the welcoming hostess for family dinners and such in the future. I'm certain he will not feel neglected.

Will be praying Mona, that you have a well done procedure and speedy recovery and that all goes smoothly and well for your entire family at this time of transition.

Mona! You do have so much on your plate. I am sorry about your FIL. My FIL died on September 27th too - a few years back. Going to the funeral in a wheelchair will be a challenge but it seems like the only way you can even consider attending.

Take it easy and I wish you a speedy recovery. Please don't feel pressure to take care of your SIL. I'm sure he understands.

Mona - Good luck to you with your surgery! I know you will do as well with the second surgery as you did with your first.

My sincerest condolences on the passing of your FIL as well. It sounds as tho you have a very full plate at the moment! Please try to make all things as easy on yourself as is reasonably possible. I am definitely sending positive thoughts and very good wishes your way!

DB was considering having his knees done. I was able to share with him your experience, as well as that of other friends who have gone through this surgery. He's actually going to schedule for January/February! You could have knocked me over with a feather when he told me! Many thanks for sharing your experience here on GW. Your success story gave me some extra ammo in order to get DB to get it done!

I will be checking in to see your "smiling face" next week sometime!

I am sorry to hear about your FIL. I would be sure to discuss that issue with your doc. Not sure you are going to get the okay for that one.

Your SIL will completely understand about your situation. I am sure he is quite the capable young man. It will give him reasons to go out and explore your area while he is awaiting your DD�s arrival. In fact, I am betting that he would feel more comfortable and a part of the family if you WOULD ask him to be your �legs� for a little while, and help out with some things.

Hi Mona. Hope you are feeling fine by the time you read this. I'll be thinking of you today and looking forward to more good news about an easy surgery.

So sorry to hear about your FIL. This must be a tough time for your husband, with you out of commission, on top of his loss. I know you two are solid, though. You'll both be okay. I hope you are up (figuratively) for the service on Saturday. The only important funeral I ever skipped, due to illness, left me struggling to process my loss. Don't hurt yourself, but do remember the needs of your heart as well as your knee. It is your loss, too.

Oy, what a crash course in getting-to-know-you with the son-in-law. My guess is that if your daughter loves him, you will too. It might be good to have him show up at a time when you are not being uber-hostess....could set the tone for a different kind of relationship. (That's spoken as an uber-hostess, myself, mind you!)
