What ruffles your feathers?

Live in condo, and as I was leaving for pool, someone had thrown coke bottles and potato chip wrappers in the shrubbery.

Such people are so inconsiderate..

Another, my BIGGIE!!!

Throwing ciggie butts out the car window!

Car stereos so loud that they shake my windows! The cute little school boys who lived next door when we moved here are now very popular 20-somethings! Their friends will drive up to the house and they sit in the noisy car and talk. I KNOW they can't hear each other over all that racket. I don't mind it when someone is just driving by. I blast my music in the car sometimes, too. These are very nice young men. I have been telling them for a year now that it's time for them to find wives and leave mommy and daddy. They think I'm kidding...

The motorcycle/race car junkie that lives three doors down! We live on the only straight stretch on the entire road, and 80+ is WAY too fast! And way too loud! There are kids and pets on this road, for crying out loud.

No use calling the cops, because it all happens too fast..there is no posted limit on this road..there are only a couple of deputies for the entire county, so surveillance is not a possibility. Only happens on weekends, thank goodness.

Quiet country living? In our dreams!

Okay - now I'm hugely embarassed. It isn't APRICOT RUFFLES. It is one of the ones in the bed that my kids pulled the tags from, so I was trying to guess from memory, it seems my memory totally failed me since I don't even HAVE anything called APRICOT RUFFLES. Now, it doesn't even seem to help to look a the list of what I bought last year, it seems I bought a lot of pinky peach ruffly edge ones. Sigh. I *think* it is RUFFLED CAROUSEL. Actually, I am pretty sure it is RUFFLED CAROUSEL. THe other possibilities are FEATHERED ANGEL or CATALINA. I am so sorry to lead you on that wild goose chase.... Alexa

a bit barren because we have done nothing since we have moved in here. This is the original paint and stained trim, which we will paint. My taste is a bit of modern (usually on the walls) mixed with antiques. Iam pretty eclectic. DR set is mahogany and we will change the chair covers to possibly a cream/white color. Floors are hardwood. Thought about the pale oak on ceiling. I really want a clean look. Just not sure. Hadn't thought about the stone harbor on bottom, but hmmm, might be too much for the style of furniture? Here is a link that might be useful:

There was a lady last night at the grocery store. I went in to get some items for the potluck. She was friendly... nice... I guess I could say that. Soon she was speaking to the checker behind me and she started acting silly... Jr. High School girl type behavior, silly, giddy at times. She looks at me and says, *See what happens when you turn 50, you can act like a retard and nobody cares.* I didn't smile, I didn't laugh, I didn't do anything but bag my groceries. I then walked to customer service after paying and asked for the manager. I told her the story, then I got mad, that mad, where your insides hurt and all you can do is cry. I let her know my son has been called that word for years and it is so inappropriate. She said she would take care of it. I went to the van, unloaded my groceries and continued to cry.... That is my saga for yesterday. It was not a good one. Ruffled my feathers for sure. When there is intolerance and people aren't diverse.

I notice most of mine are about children. Well, that's OK a lot of times they cannot speak for themselves:)

I hate to see small children out of car seats and bouncing around in the backseat.

Having a child trapped in a vehicle with an adult smoking with no windows cracked.

Hearing people baby talk to a child who is old enough to understand regular language."Babies" are different-who can resist baby talking to an infant?

Using nicknames instead of regular names. My older sister is so bad with that- her GD's name is Haylie and she calls her "Hay-Hay" and she's going into 2nd grade......

I am not one who frets over small stuff, and almost all of life's irritations are small stuff, but one that really gets my goat is kids with their pants down around their knees and their underwear hanging out - there should be a law against it, IMHO!

The only good thing I can see about this new 'style' is that if they commit a crime, they most likely won't be able to escape from the law - they will be caught 'with their pants down'! LOL

People who fish right off of my dock. There are miles and miles of bayou, and no houses around, and people will come right up to the bank behind my house.

Yesterday I was driving down the interstate and was trying to pass a utilities truck when he rolled down the window and started spitting. He hit my car three times before I managed to hit the horn. Then after I beeped it, he spit again before I got past him. I had to get off at the next exit, so I got out at the gas station to try to get it off. Turns out he was dipping. YUCK! Had to take the car through the car wash! Not very happy bout that!

People who are talking on cell phones, eating, texting, reading while driving and weaving all over the road. If you want to kill yourself while driving that's your option, but don't take me out with you.

Ditto what Ron said! Add ear splitting motorcycles that disturb my peaceful evenings on the porch...or while I am in the house trying to hear the tv.

Ditto what Ron said, and also add throwing the ciggies out the window along with paper cups etc., loud car radios, falling down pants...I guess just, disrespect in general....
I know I'm getting old, but hopefully not a grouchy old lady...

Oh, I forgot about the cigarette butts that litter our environment. What is it that makes a smoker think it is ok to drop them anywhere? Someone that walks past our house regularly drops their butts by our mail box. They must do it at night because I have not seen anyone doing it. At any given time there will be 6 to 12 filtered butts there. We clean them up and a few days later there they are again.

    Everything mentioned above +

We have a girl that works for us and she giggles constantly. She laughs about everything...truly, everything. I am sure it is a nervous laugh, but it sure gets on our nerves.

People that can't leave their personal problems at home.

I am not in your car, so why would I want to listen to the bad music coming from within your car?

People who honk their horns at other drivers who didn't even come close to them. Horns should be outlawed.

My mother in law walking around without her teeth in. It totally grosses me out. And expecting me to carry on a conversation with her or eat at the same table with her. Not going to happen.

Ahhhhhh...this was a nice release post. There are more, I am sure, these are off the top of my head. LOL

People smoking in car when children are passengers. I don't care if the window are open, the kids still get exposed to second hand smoke. Also, people carrying babies or a small child and smoking.

This is not a good question today. I am sick and grumpy ROFL!

Right now? Kids that don't listen and the parents that let them do whatever they want.

Old people who should not drive, and talk on the cell phone or to each other. Kids usually don't bother me much. Women who comb their hair, put on make up etc while driving on city streets, especially when our streets are under major construction.
People in small towns who stop in the middle of the road to see who is around, and then wait until they can talk to them.
And people who DO NOT respect moving farm equipment--come on now it only happens in early summer and early fall.

Okay, I've been thinking about this for several hours and I'm having a hard time coming up with something that really ruffles my feathers. I should have been the author of Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, LOL.

I really don't worry about what other people do or wear. I like loud music and love loud motorcycles (I happen to own a very loud one).

It does bother me when parents don't watch their children. And I hate to see children over age 1 walking around with a pacifier in the mouth. It's like their parents have plugged them up to keep them quiet for so long that now they have to be sucking on it.
But those things are very low on my list of priorities to think about, so it's just a minute of disgust on my part and then forgotten.

Okay I thought of something that really does ruffle my feathers.....when you are down to one paycheck and you're used to having two...but you still loan someone money....and they don't care enough to pay you back. But I figure what goes around will come around.

Unkindness...at any level...at any time. It takes more concentration to be unkind than it does to have respect and consideration for ones fellow man. I wonder all the time why people waste so much of their energy on negativism when it's so counter-productive.

Peole smoking around their kids, especially in the car.

I DO need to add this one to my former post:

People who walk their dogs, let them poop, and LEAVE it where someone can walk in it - makes me CRAZY! What the he%% is WRONG with people?

Yes, that smoking around children is a really upsetting thing - my dil's family does this, both in the house and in the car - DUMB ass%%es!

I guess one of the worst things that ruffles all of my feathers are auto owners whose turning signals must be rusted to the steering wheel, from lack of use.
Lane changers are so inconsiderate who just duck & dive in between cars-causing people beside or behind them to have to brake quickly. They need to realize other drivers are NOT mind readers as to their intentions..a signal would prevent so many accidents! On the flip side? I just don't get the people who do use their signal, make a turn and then...they never shut the darn thing off! Who knows what their thinking?? Grrr.

I also cannot stand ignorant people who ask you a question & before or just after saying a word or two-they start running their mouth again! Have to say-have you ever watched Martha Stewart do this? It happens all of the time while interviewing a guest behind her counter!

I carry a real doggie bag when I walk my dogs.
I like to walk with my dogs in the state park, there are beautiful trails in the woods but for the first mile I have to keep them on the leash because of TP and used condoms on the trail. I pick up after my dogs, slobs should pick up after themselves.

I was sitting at a red light, waiting for the green left-turn arrow, when I heard sirens. Looked around but didn't see a fire truck, it just kept getting closer and louder. I didn't notice the green arrow had lit up, don't you know someone honked at me to "move it"? I happened to be more worried about not getting in the way of a fire truck, thank you for letting me know I was delaying you from making your very important turn.

I started thinking in my head of several things that ruffle my feathers. But I think they all boil down to: intolerance and negativity. People who just can't say a nice thing about life, the universe, and the people in it, to save their lives. I don't have time for it. Brings me down.

Lots of things don't bother me, but there's some.

Greedy people.... especially ones that take advantage of elderly and vulnerable people. And there should be a special place in Hell's hottest spot for those who take advantage of their parents (well, and family).

Bicyclists and motorcyclists who figure look out for me... I wouldn't feel bad seeing them crash.

Parents that let their kids scream in public places and make others have to put up with their parental incompetence.

People with SUVs and, well any 4WD or AWD that figure they can drive faster than everyone in the winter because they have 4WD/AWD... and never learned that they can't stop any faster. Don't they usually have a bumper sticker that says something like My other car is also an overpriced 4WD that has never seen so much as a gravel road!

And pickup owners in the snowbelt who won't put weight in the back so they're sliding around all over the road.

Schools sending kids out to sell overpriced junk to raise money for various things and of course most any door to door solicitor. I had so many people wanting to put a new roof on my place after a storm.

Handicapped parking at lumber yards. Just once I'd like to see someone in a wheelchair rolling out of there carrying a 12' sheet of drywall.

Political campaigns that start years in advance.

People who put dogs/kids outside to bark/scream and just close the door so they don't have to listen to them.

People who have had their turn signal on continuously since 1984.

But the WORST? People that criticize MY driving! Don't they realize it's not easy to eat a McMuffin, balance a roll and hash browns on my leg, sip my coffee, talk on my cell phone while I'm reading the paper, tie my shoes, finish shaving and take notes for the day's projects! I'm under STRESS people!!

OH Marie - you should live here. Narrow roads and the tractors are blocking them all the time. The farmers here harvest all kinds of crops. Be in a hurry and I guarantee there will be a tractor on 1 1/2 lanes of the road. What burns me is they will go for miles even when there are places they cold pull over and let traffic by.

I hate people who are in charge of an estate or is a relatives POA and they waltz in and act like the stuff is theirs and take it. I have seen this many times from loving family members. People think their relatives won't cheat them and find out the hard way. If someone is promising you something when they die - get it now.
