Yes mora, we got to see a few pretty leaves, but with the overcast skies and rain they didn't look as brilliant as I'd hoped. None the less, they were beautiful, almost too much to take in! I chronicaled our trip on a bit of paper from the hotel room, must have been pretty impressed with the food because I wrote in great detail where we ate and what we had. :) We put on 2100kms in those few short days, did the Cabot Trail, stayed in Baddeck, Antigonish, Halifax & two nights in Indian Harbour. Got as far south as Lunenburg, and made a trip over to the Wolfville area, drove out to Cape Split. VERY COOL! I've never seen fields of cabbage before, and seeing the red soil out that way was amazing! We were getting pretty road weary on the last day. Wish we'd had more time... ahhh... that's the sign of a good vacation! Thanks for asking!

Greetings from downtown St. Catharines, Ontario, and must garden or die. I rent, don't own, but my great landlord lets me do what I want with the property. I just replaced the small front 'lawn' with shrub, perennial and bulb plantings, and will be putting raised beds (for veggies) on top of the unused back driveway, which takes up half the back yard. The other half, formerly just grass & weeds,is now planted with bird-and-butterfly-attracting shrubs, perennials and herbs. I've been here about a year and a half, and this past summer, my garden hosted nine varieties of butterflies, a resident toad and my first hummingbird, who stayed for a month. I am soooo looking forward to next spring!! Ummm ...... could anyone tell me what our Average First Frost Date is?? Been gardening for years, so you'd think I'd know, but I'm kind of in denial about the onset of Winter ....

Thank you Edward, I have considered sending that monster to be quilted, but I will do it. I understand why your wife prefers to piece, since it is almost a discovery process as the design come to life in your hands...Quilting, on the other hand, is work unless you happen to have one of the "long arm" quilting machines, or another very expensive machine. But I fell sure she has shared that information with you already. I would like to see more of your work. While I enjoy photographing blooms and wildlife in my yard, (The present raccoon visitor excepted) your lighthouse scenes (and your daylily photographs) reveal a professional skill level. kay

The weird weather this past winter and spring has resulted in an unusual variety and abundance of spring bloom. Shrubs and trees blooming at the same time like never before. This nearby Wisteria we have watched for 17 years. The bloom has always been sparse. This year not so...don't know where it all came from this year. It has taken over a couple large pines growing next to a state road. Left the truck that is driving by in so you can judge it's size. It is all of 35 to 40 feet high (and wide) into the tree.
