The first KTer I met was Martha from Tyler (who now posts at the Coffee Shop & lives in Whitehouse.) Then I went to Waco to Jaybird's & met Nita, Jerri & Gabby. Jaybird took us to a restaurant in Crawford where we took our pictures with "President Bush." Annie and John Pence from Lake Fork picked me up and we went together to Fredericksburg to Buzzard's get-together. Nita, MaryAnn and I stayed in a motel room together. It was a great weekend. On the way home, Annie & John stopped at a German restaurant near Austin where I met some of their kids. What a great family; John passed away a year ago. Then 2 years ago I met a lady from Temple on a cruise ship, but don't know her name! Now I'm friends with the amazing Vannie. If I've left out anyone , just remember that I'm getting old! *L*

I'm hoping to meet up with Nita and Carol on Wednesday for lunch in Venice, FL. Just waiting for a confirmation call! BUT, now I know what they look like! Will have to be sure to get a few pics! Kathy G in MI

I enjoyed Middlesex, too. It's hard to answer "what's it about?" b/c it's about so much, the hermaphrodite story line is only a small part of it. It's about identity, immigration, nationality, relationships, family, life in America... wow. It's just a fantatic trip of a book! I agree, it took several chapters to convince me to stay with it. But then I couldn't put it down. I sent it to a friend. Kingsolver fan here, too. And, Betsy, Botany of Desire is the most entertaining non-fiction I've ever read! It was informative and interesting, but also downright funny in places! He can really tell a story! I read it years ago, but there was one part that still makes me grin when I think about it. I won't ruin it, you'll know it when you read it! LOL!

Yes it is a bad situation for sure. My friend that just bought a house in the okc area sent me pictures of the deep piles of snow in her yard. She had to venture out this morning to stock up on stuff including candles and batteries. Hers are all still packed in one of the many boxes. Friends in Dallas are just devastated by the broken trees and devastation all the ice has caused. Nasty stuff. The area is just not prepared for those kinds of winter conditions. Sure am glad we are safe home in Houston area and not still in Oklahoma!. Stay safe everyone,
