Sick, sick people! What is wrong with them!

We have a lovely park and petting zoo in the north end of our city, right on the lake. I visit there often to walk the dog or visit the animals. Goats, sheep, pigs, cows, donkeys, tons of ducks, geese, turtles etc. Monday night or early Tues morning someone broke into the petting zoo enclosure and murdered several animals (after torturing them) and then left with a baby goat.

I just don't understand what goes on in the minds of these kind of people. I wanted to scream when I heard of this!

What happens when small, defenseless animals become boring. What's next? Small children?

I'm sick about that, Mush. I was there with my friend last summer. I guess they think that Kijiji ad for a baby goat may be a credible lead and not a prank. I hope they catch those awful people.

Yes, that's what happens next, they go on to humans. Really sick.

I do see what looks like little black ants crawling up the tree, and back down but they are never on the leaves. no more than 3 or 4 at a time. I am assuming they are ants, because I did have a black ant problem in my house a few years back, next to my sink and kitchen window. I do see a large bug on the leaves every so but never more one at a time. Are spiders harmful to the trees? I constantly have spiders in them. making webs until I water them or it rains. The soil is a little dry on the top but it is fairly most when I stick my finger in it. The temps have been fairly cool here for this time of the year in the low 70Ã¢ÂÂs to upper 70Ã¢ÂÂs. It is starting to warm up. I know in the summer that cement will get very hot as will the weather but it also rains here almost every day in the summer with an afternoon shower. And cools it down a good bit. I will check out the root ball and trim the dead parts of the tree and get rid of tags and do the spray you recommend. I have bug guy coming to look at my property this weekend to help with my recent flea problems and prep for termite season. Maybe that will help get rid of any pest I am not seeing. Any other tips or suggesting for dealing with potted citrus

Sick Viburnums! Can't figure out what is wrong.

I've had problems with my Korean Spice Viburnum since the year after I planted it about 6 years ago. I have two, one in more sun that has a milder problem, but one that is in more shade has about run it's course. Last year, I pruned off all the sick looking foliage and ended up giving it a severe pruning. This year it is worse than ever and all the new foliage has the same problem. So I have decided to remove it. The other Viburnum, I'm just going to leave alone this year because we have had drought conditions most of last year and weird weather this year and I'm just going to let it deal with it on it's own. I have another problem with just a few tips of branches on a Red Wing Viburnum, that is a different looking issue. And the Oakleaf Hydrangea next to it, is now having some dying branches on that side. So I don't know what is going on with that either. I will try to take a photo of my Korean Spice Viburnum when the weather changes a little and it is not so dark outside. It does not look the same as yours though. Very sad, because I LOVE the fragrance of that Korean Spice and look forward to it every spring. I'm wondering if it makes sense to install another shrub of any kind in that same location. I have a Viburnum Wentworth and (knock on wood) it looks fine and is just now starting to develop flowers. Sorry about your Viburnums!

Awhhhh Flatcoat - yours makes mine sound like a dream project. I can't even imagine putting up with all of this, AND being sick. I understand what you mean about leaving at 730 every morning. Mine doesn't show up until 8, but there are some mornings that I just don't want anyone around that early. But, I suck it up and deal with it. One thing that I made clear from the beginning though, NO WORKERS ON THE WEEKEND. I know myself well enough to know that after 5 days it during the week - that would be enough and that I'd be ready for a little down time on the weekend. You poor thing! I hope you feel better very soon. Guess it was a good thing for me to post this, because I was able to vent... and gave a few others a forum to vent a little too. :) I want to say (because if I don't I'll feel guilty!), that other than the mess issue - my entire project and my GC have been just about perfect. We have had no really bad mistakes or scheduling issues - that and he's got a heart of gold and is a very nice man. Hubby spoke to him this morning, and he was very apolgetic - and totally accepted responsibility, not trying to push it off on to someone else - or making it seem like I was just being picky. I knew we picked the right guy - guess a little open communication on my part would have been better - rather than letting it build and build, and blowing a fuse last night. LOL Just gotta keep my eye on the prize. Thanks you all for letting me blow off a little steam, and for sharing your stuff too. I feel better. :)

My goldfish is sick, what is wrong with it?

I have ruled out environmental factor with my sick fish. It has a bacterial infection, bloat, or a parasite infection. I have tried again to include photos of the holes and lumps in my fish. I am using anti-parasitic food, but the fish will not eat it. It am trying some Pima Fix for the bacterial infection. I used a little aquari-sol in a vain attempt to do something for parasites. I cannot afford to buy anything else for treatment right now. I only have the aquiari-sol and the anti-parasite food the fish will not eat. Should I wait until the morning, when the fish is hungrier? I got the fish that is sick in quarantine now. What else can I do? I have some epson salts for feet. Should I use it? If so, how do I use it properly? Pictures included below. Thank you.

I believe anyone who harms and tortures animals, thinks nothing of taking a human life. When I hear or read of a kid who tortures an animal, I fear that he will become a serial killer or something similar.

The other day one of the beautiful swans that live on the river in the city where Luckygardner lives was bludgeoned to death. The guy was found, and he's 19 years old.

When we lived in upstate NY, there was a youngster, Eric, who killed a 5 year old neighbor boy. Eric started out by torturing and killing animals. His grandfather, a retired state trooper, turned Eric in. Such a brave and good man to take that little monster off the streets.
So, yes, killing/torturing animals is a sign of depravity that may grow worse with age.

They took a baby goat? Has the possibility of satanic worship/sacrifices been suggested? It's possible. And it may 'just' be kids dabbling in something they really know nothing about--which is still dangerous and a bad sign.

We have a rescue zoo in our area--they take in animals that have no place else to go. Old circus animals, abandoned pets/farm animals, animals that were confiscated because they were acquired illegally, etc. Some years back some teens broke in and killed a number of animals, did property damage, etc. I felt awful to hear that. These were not just animals for the public to enjoy, they were rescued animals who had no place else to go. Horrible.

May I suggest you do what I did? Write the biggest donation to the zoo that you can afford. It won't right the wrong that's been done, but you'll feel better, and the zoo's management will know that there are those who truly appreciate their efforts. And it may help them repair and replace some of the damage that's been donel

MG ~ I remember that case. It was shocking then and still is. he was also an animal abuser. I remember when Eric had been interviewed by news networks when he was in his early 20's in prison (he's 30 now). There was a segment that aired on either 20/20 or 48 Hours and included his jail interview. After watching the program I found that he still scared the cr@p out of me.
He has been denied parole five times since 2002, most recently in April 2010. He is next eligible for parole in April 2012.
I hope to G-d he never gets out.

The title of your post says it all. SICK, SICK, SICK! It Breaks my heart when I think of those poor defenseless animals. When they catch the guilty party he should be thrown in with a den of lions. An eye for an eye. Make that hungry lions.
