I never posted a pic of my little rescue dog

This is Penny. I saw her picture in the paper and it said she had been at the Humane Society for a couple of months. I couldn't believe it, because she is so cute. She came home with me that day, slept curled up against my neck, and gets along great with the other dogs. I just love her to pieces.

Comments (7)It is pretty, has nice girl leaves. You did good! Thanks for letting us know. We wonder how someone made out that has a problem and posts here for help. They like to be kept potbound and the pot should be 1/3 the leaf span, so that would be 2" or 2 1/2. Did you take the plant from the pot to see if it needs a bigger pot? 4 is too big, there will be too much soil and roots might rot and if they don't, it might take a while to fill out the pot to bloom again. If you don't disturb it too much, it should keep blooming if it is still making buds. After a blooming cycle is a better time to repot and you can cut off some of the bottom roots and repot it in the same pot. tish...See MoreMy dog--my post for the day
Comments (10)There's nothing like puppy-love. Even when our puppies are 6, or 9, or 17. I love my boys, Harry and Sam. Harry is my heart. I enjoy everything more when he is with me. Sam is loved, too; but my heart was so filled with Harry it was very hard when DH insisted on getting another puppy. (Two big hunting dogs in our little house and me barely able to move at the time.) I was very sick for the first 18 months we had Sam. I wasn't able to work with him, train him, or bond with him properly. In his defense, he adores me and tries so hard to be a good puppy. He fails, miserably, LOL, but he does try. Now that I'm functioning again I try to make a special block of "Sam Time" every day. Harry and Sam aren't the best of friends, but I've worked with Sam enough that he knows he can't hurt Harry. Sometimes they actually play together. Comments (36)I know that. It was just a county dog pound, actually. They don't do any testing. I've been asking around and getting advice. I actually volunteer at our no kill facility and will get advice. Lots of resources available, they just will cost me $$. Her former owner lost her home, had to move in w/ friends who were not allowed to have animals.....hid the dog at a friend's house who put the dog outside. It ran away & was picked up twice. Owner finally just surrendered the dog. Such a sad story and she's 9 so I knew she was going to be put down. She is sweet, and yes, I can get her healthy, and then look for a new home. thanks for all the advice....See Morelittle dog for a house dog??? need ??
Comments (18)I agree with Brooklyn Girl...if it's possible for you to take your dog inside the house, I'm sure your dog can be trained to be "polite and well mannered" inside! Even old dogs can learn new tricks and behaviors! If you would like a smaller dog anyway, I happened to like Bichons. I have two from a rescue. This breed is darling, and they have such great personalities. They don't shed, but they DO need to be groomed and their hair (they don't have fur) cut/trimmed. They weigh between 10 to 20 lbs, with some a little lighter weight and some a little heavier. They are smart, and definitely people oriented, so should not be left alone for long periods of time, or left outside unattended. They WANT to be with you! I've noticed that my two have become good watchdogs, and I can't imagine ever being without these sparkling, expressive darlings!...See More
