I am going to brag about Tanner right now.......long..

Since I always talk about Sydney I thought it was time Tanner got some time.....Bless his heart.....he is soooo great...he turned 15 in April and knew he would spend another year just mowing yards....sooo when my BIL and sister were in for Syds graduation he took it upon himself to ask if they needed any workers at their business (autobody) or on the farm.....they did and my BIL was sooo impressed with him for asking that he hired him a week later my nephew and his soon to be wife came down and took my son away.....he is doing soooo great....He is working at the bodyshop, has learned to drive a tractor and rake and bale hay, and my neice wanted to pay for half of his lessons to take wakeboarding because she knew he would love it but he told her no he needs to say his money for other things and can learn to wakeboard on his own....wowwowowowo where did he come from?????? LOL he is also going to a rock band camp in July, where he will be paired up with others to form a band, they get to name their band, make a logo shirts and posters will write their own music and lyrics and be recorded and then put on a concert for parents and who ever else...then he will go to Church camp as he does every year....he is just great and I feel like all I ever do is talk about what Sydney has done and feel he needed a shout out also LOL proud moe Stacy

Well it's good to hear about Tanner. He does sound like a good kid with a lot of common sense. Now will he miss Sydney when she's gone?

Way to go Tanner. I have a DGS Tanner, and he's like your Tanner, Stacy. Big hearted, and a good kid. Loves to fish with his cousin Nate.
Keep us informed about his band camp, and get some pictures please.

My spud harvest is still continuing at its slow pace. The plants were all cut back, about 10 days before they were harvested so as to give the skins time to toughen before the tubers were dug. Then, it was just a matter of when I collected enuf "organic matter" to fill in the trench behind me. I've worked my way nearly to the end of the 100 square feet bed. I think what I have learned is how important it is to have more than one variety to rely on. That is really true everywhere and with every crop in the garden - flowers, too! The Sangre had a variable performance. Below is a picture of what came out from under just 1 plant - 6 1/4 pounds! I'm not sure that any spud plant did better than that last year when overall yield was so much better. The next few Sangre plants in the bed didn't produce nearly that well but I have now worked my way into the part with the morning shade. It was the Yukon Gold that "turned on me" this year. I'm not sure if they have ever done so poorly in the several years that I've grown them, always bountiful producer! I like red potatoes but since production does mean a lot to me, as should storage, I really would like to grow some late-maturing russets. (I like baked spuds, too!) Columbusguy, we found a warehouse locally that had the same thickness, but 3/4 inch narrower in stock. The difference is barely noticeable since the porch swing is hung right where the transition takes place. Since I am seriously cash-strapped, I wanted to stay in a budget. The original boards were 1 x 5 pine and were just beautiful, but would not be in my budget even if I could find replacements. The brown floor paint is SW Oil-Based Enamel (I love that stuff) and it is slightly bronzy-greenish. All of the photos look way more green than it really is. It is a color I mixed up at home and had matched. SW's browns are a bit disappointing and I am a little "over-particular" about brown, so when I need a brown paint I mix my own. (ok, really, i am totally OCD about color, but I love the brown of the porch floor) The blinds were $20 each at Lowes. They won't trim these for you (only the expensive interior blinds can be trimmed) so buy them longer than you need and cut them yourself. I simply unrolled them on the lawn, made my measurements (take a bit off both sides to ensure the pulleys at the top are still centered) and used tin snips to cut the plastic slats. I used an old hacksaw to cut through the heavy plastic header and footers. Hint: the footer slides, so slip it back and forth to give you more room to cut the slats, then slide it all the way over and just cut off one end to size, rather than both ends. Worthy, I did a good deal of research on painting the floor and found some pretty convincing arguments for painting only one side. The area below is unconditioned basement. It is not exposed to the elements. I'll let you know if I screwed up.

Thanks so much for the comments. The blessings are all mine, believe me! Danihoney, that is similar to our son. He was integrated into the classrooms all this time, when he really should have been isolated. He too is a something else to watch and observe.He blows me away at times with his big heart. It is interesting to see which paths he takes from time to time, as it makes no sense to us. We are often trying to put ourselves into his shoes and it is so hard sometimes because we just don't get it. I really think that he would be higher functioning if he would have been diagnosed earlier in life. Although it burdens my heart, there is no need to cry for one single moment about it. We need to face each day being strong and ready for what life throws us. Right now I am not as strong as what I would like to be, but working on it. Thanks for the encouragement. If you can send the link to people you know, that would help them learn about Asperger's and Autism, I would greatly appreciate it. I think that she updates facts (on the left side of the blog) on her break at 8A. Thanks again!!!

That's great Stacy. He sounds like 2 of my grandsons. The others aren't old enough to do anything like that. But my oldest DGS went to Mexico with his church, and they built little casitas down there. He really enjoyed it, and I'll bet Tanner does too. Leslie

Thank you all he is just sooo great and I guess cuz Syd is a girl and she had sooo many problems I just never brought his attibutes to the KT....but he is soooo good he makes super grades,,,,is still in band, could play sports but loves his music more...he still plays the sax for school, takes guitar lessons, but is self taught on the piano, drums, and the madoline(sp)...he also has written and recorded his own songs...and is great...he is so involved in Church and the Lord and just great all around....I have a few pics of him I took with my nephew and his soon to be wife before they left.....he hates hates hates to get his pic made but we did a staged type scene where he was like a guitar player on the street and they just happened upon him...so will post those tomorrow....Thanks again for listening to a mommy brag....I almost forgot Mcmann....I asked Syd does she miss him since he is at my sissys house and she said yes and that was only after 2 days!!! And so I am sure that he misses her even though she is so mean and hateful to him....LOL Stacy

Stac I can not tell you how much this post means to me.It makes chill bumps go down my legs and arms as I read this.YOu have ever ever right to brag on Tanner.Keep bragging on him.If I was there I hug him if he let me and brag too just let him know Ms Judy is proud of him too.Let me asure you he will go FAR in life.I am so glad you posted this.This has started my day out good by reading great posts as this and its early here around 5 am,not sure but couldn't sleep and got up to read here and am glad I did.Please keep me inform how he is doing.

Thanks again everyone! I just got off of the phone with him....He is going to hitch a ride with my parents next tuesday to come home...and he is in panic mode...LOL because they don't listen to music while they travel and his ipod is here messed up....Syd and I took it to the Apple store last week to get it fixed and it is something we have to do......soooo of course we haven't yet...told him I would today and then overnight it to him so he could have it! Nothing can beat the pride you feel knowing you've raised a first class kid..that's how I feel about my son.

Good for Tanner and for you, too, Stac. Sounds like Tanner will be good at saving his money as well..that means so much and is also a big help to you.
