The camera I was referring to about videoing and being better was the Sony HD (Handycam) HDR-CX260. The new camera before that was a Samsung HD- it seem to have multiple problems like with focus, sound and stability. The camera before that was my original Kodak EasyShare that just started having multiple problems too- it was a good camera. The cameras I have for monitoring outside are the IR night vision. I have 16 of them now to monitor the birds and any other activities I have around the house. I did install mine myself and have them all hard wired (I can't use wireless) . You might have better luck with the wireless than I did (frequency issues). The wireless are easy to install, it's also the best bang for you buck. The iPad is a beautiful machine, and I was sorely tempted, but I was concerned about having no Flash capability and being locked into the Apple market. I wasn't sure how limited I would feel, but I knew how much flexibility I would have with Android. While getting the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was a bit of an indulgence, the one at Costco came with an instant rebate, and a free leather protective pouch. Another important factor was that Costco offers a second year of warranty for free on their tvs and computers, and I got a third year by paying for it with a Costco/Amex credit card. This saved me from having to buy a separate, extended warranty, so it's something to factor in if you are shopping for a tablet. You also have a 90-day period in which you can return almost any electronics item for a refund if you don't like it. (I'm not shilling for Costco: I have no connection with them other than as a satisfied customer. Their second year warranty saved me once when my big screen tv died in the 13th month and they did a $1000 repair for free.)

For those looking for a "router" for sharing data over cell services, there are additional alternatives to using a USB dongle with a portable router: - A "mobile hotspot", a combined cellular "modem" and router in one small package. Offered by the major carriers. Cost- wise, it's like having another phone, you pay to buy the device and have a (usually 2 year)contract with monthly access and data usage charges. - Most smart phones can operate as a mobile hotspot. Also called "tethering". The advantage with this is that there's nothing additional to buy and (at least with some carriers) no contract is necessary. You can turn it off and on as you wish, and apply usage to the phone plan you already have. The disadvantage is if you're not plugged in, the steady stream of cell data and wifi usage will eat through your battery life. I don't know if a tethered connection can be encrypted. It's convenient for occasional use, with my carrier, it's $ 20 per month prorated for the days it's turned on, so it's like 70 cents per day.

Yes it certainly does not hurt and they don't use much battery power and have some added benefits some will help you find your phone if lost or stolen. The top 2 I recommend are Lookout security and AVAST both have free versions. They can both be found in the app stores. I would read the attributes of both and decide which you prefer. I have used both, I currently have AVAST on my tablet but have lookout on other devices.
