If they took your ovaries you'd go into an early and sudden menopause. That could give you plenty to be cranky about. :-)

Even with the overiers I have been cranky and having the night sweats etc anyways so they might as well have done it all.....Thanks to both of you....will call a doc monday and see when I can get in...will also call my gyno in Missouri who did the hystro. and see if she can call something in in the mean time.....for pain till I can get in a doc here....thanks again for letting me whine....Stacy

I don't know why they didn't take everything either Stacy.They took EVERYTHING of mine...even my cervix and I feel fine.I did have some moodiness at first and some hot flashes,still do once in awhile.But I'd do it all over again in a New York minute!No pain...no nothing anymore,it's wonderful!

Doesn't Advil or similar help with the pain? I'm not sure just what kind of pain you're talking about but when my back hurts from too much gardening, and it doesn't take much, I take Advil and sit on the heating pad. Both of them help immensely. Something is wrong it the pain is bringing you to tears. Hope you can get to a doctor soon.

It is the pain from the endrometrisos (sp) I have had it for years.....they said as it grows I would have it more....it has been hurting for awhile but today is the worse.....it has brought me to tears before but not since my surgery.....they tried me again on the b/c that would stop it from growing but it totally made me crazy as it ususally does....since they had to open me up totally for my surgery because the endro. was wrapped around my bowels etc...you would have thought they would have just done a complete....oh to late to say could have and should haves so will just deal with it now...but just hate it always happens on weekends ya know.....never through the week.....it isn't the gardening as I do this every day....didn't even power wash today and still had to stop at like 5.....just wanted to whine LOL Stacy

I had an endometrial cyst and I remember it was painful. All of mine was removed, but it sounds like they didn't remove all of yours, so your ovaries are triggering monthly flare-ups in what remains. (Am I understanding your situation?)

Yes I guess they didn't get all of mine and said they would continue to grown and cause pain...this month has been the worse....my options were surgery again or b/c....I tried the b/c and it made me crazy as it has in the past when they tried it......but wanted to try without the surgery first but looks like that maybe my option...going to check out the link thanks..stacy

Petaloid thanks for that site....it was soooo imformative.....what gets me after reading it.....the reason they had to cut me the old way was because my stuff (intenstines, bowels etc....) was all on the right side and was wrapped with the black endro......so why didn't they take it all at that time knowing it was so bad?
One of the helpful things is b/c or the nuvaring...I have tried both.....oh well going to sleep on the heating pad tonight....and call my doc monday and one here in OK....and get a appt.....I wish there was something else they could do besides surgery because I was such a tit after the last one.....maybe there is time will tell...thanks again for that site.....I do know that she left it on my bowels as she was afriad of perfortating (sp) them which would have been bad but I do have all the major symptoms.....so we will see thanks again Stacy

Stacy...my heart aches for you. Makes you wonder what doctors are thinking. Hang in there till you can be seen. In the meantime...I'll be thinking of you. Menopause isn't THAT bad, compared to what you are going through right now.

They left me an ovary too Stacy and I curse it's very existence. If one little ovary can cause hot flashes, night sweats and all the other 'wonderful' menopause symptoms I hate to think what two of the little boogers would do to us!

I don't know what to tell you about the entrometriosis.
But a long time ago Hayjud recommended an over the counter hormone cream that you put on your hands and wrists to control the night sweats and hotflashes. It doesn't take ALL the symptoms away but helps enough to make you feel 99.99% human. I don't remember the name but I get it at walmart in the vitamin section.

My doctor won't give me hormone replacement therapy pills even though I have begged shamelessly for them!

If i drink a lot of coke of caffeine the symptoms are worse. Drinking a lot of water helps a lot. It seems like alcohol makes the symptoms worse too.

Whatever it's worth there's my advice....

Stacy-I'm sorry you are in pain and that you have to go through all that even after surgery.My oldest DD has had problems with ovarian cysts since she started having babies.She begged doctors to do a hysterectomy and take them out but they kept telling her she was too young,(early 30's).She had even had her tubes tie so it was for sure she was never going to have any more kids! I thought it was ridiculous that they wouldn't do it,only reason being that she would go through menopause.She was married at the time and had good insurance that would have paid for it.She is 47 now and still having bad problems every month but no insurance now that she is "old" enough they will do it!

Was it wild yam cream Lori? I know it helps with the hot flashes.If you get it make sure the wild yam is one of the first 3 ingredients on the label.Otherwise it will be such a small concentration that it will be useless.

NO lillipad, it wasn't.
It was a white jar with a blue lid and had a very pleasent smell. I never checked the ingredients either but I"ll bet wild yam was one as it was effective. Check the shelves at walmart or ask your pharmacist Stacy. There are several creams available. They don't work as well as the prescribed HRT but aren't nearly as dangerous either.

wish you had my doc, he removed everyhing! (including a few centemeters of the top of the cervex (it had been invaded by the cancer)and i'm sure glad he did! not one more headache...and since my lumpectomy monday was shown to be receptive to hormones (and will be taking an anti-hormone pill) i think it was a double blessing...and that i had chosen not to have hrt!

GRINCH, I hear you!!! I had endometriosis so bad that it had invaded my bladder, rectum and the entire reproductive system plus the cervix. They did a rectoseal and a bladder suspension while they were in there and I was left totally sterile at age 32. It was hard to deal with for a while but once I became accustomed to the hormones I was fine and felt better than I had in years. Call your dr. and explain that you feel that the pain is being caused by the ovaries and what can be done. Tell him you can't live like this. See what happens. Taking the ovaries is a simple vaginal job.

I will call today as I am still hurting...I have had one cyst rupture before and that was so terrible in pain it brought me to my knees...I don't want that again....and that was also part of my problem when they did the surgery.....I am praying the new doc in OK...will read my chart and say okay you have exhusted all options and lets just do it.....I am not sure they can do it the easy way as the endro. was wrapped around everything before and that is why they did it the old way ....encluding the overies...but at this point.....I am willing to do surgery.....I don't want to take pain pills forever (I know it will only be a few days a month when ovulating...but still.....don't want to.....so we will see....going to call the doc asap but I think Brian took my phone by accident this morning when he went to work...so will have to wait til tomorrow unless I find it.....Thanks again all....Stacy (4got to mention the only other choice I had after my hystro was also taking pain meds and I really don't want to go that route)

Hey there Stacy - hope you are able to talk to the Dr. today and get some help. Pain is awful and makes everything else just as bad.

I know there was a period when Drs. wouldn't do "excess" surgery because of lawsuits. Women complained that Drs, especially male, didn't respect women's feelings about whacking away at female organs. But after going through all of that for your surgery, I agree that it might have been better to have stopped the endo, altogether. No need to do surgery at all if it wasn't going to stop it. Go figure...

Have you tried Progesterone cream (sold over the counter)? I use that for cramping I have at ovulation. I was taking Darvocet, but my doctor wanted me to quit taking that.. the cream works just as well. I use a lot right on my abdomen when I'm having cramps. Of course the doctor never told me this might work.. she was all gung ho about giving me a hysterectomy. I didn't get the hysterectomy and now she agrees I probably didn't need it. The Progesterone helped shrink my fibroids too.

I need to get back into the habit of using it daily.

I don't know why they didn't just remove everything, they did mine, ovaries, cervix...I was 60 though, past menopause, that might have been the reason. I had precancerous polyps that they removed but grew back in a matter of months so they were concerned.
Yes, go to the Dr. and get something for the pain, have them recheck you. I'm sorry you are suffering.
