What Are The Chances?

We went to a beautiful small wedding yesterday. The aunt of the bride and the grandmother of the groom had the same dress on. They live in different states. But, they were both beautiful in the dresses. What are the chances of this happening?

I hope they both had a good sense of humor about it! I'm sure that they were quite surprised that someone else had such impeccably good taste.

I think the chances are pretty good. At my wedding 30 years ago, my mother in law and her mother had the same dress - they did not live in the same state either or shop the same store. Also, my MIL's MIL wore the same dress except it was in a different color. The funny thing is when they were all talking about their dresses on the phones, they each gave a different description of the dress and the two that had the same color, described a diffferent color. Years later, my MIL still talks about it.

When my daughter got married last year, I sent a picture of my dress to the groom's mother and step mother. Pluse I went with my MIL to help her pick out her dress. I didn't want that to happen to me although it would have been a little funny.

Thanks for the comments, everyone, and my apologies for the delay in responding: I checked the box to have replies sent to my email, but the only notice I received was for sapote's--less than a half hour ago. So I guess I know now not to trust that setup. Anyway, since the tree is already in the ground, should I be digging it up again? I mean, I don't know if that's a ridiculous question, but, like I wrote earlier, it's in a pretty sunny area. Or is there another option? I don't know if I've ever heard of covering up a tree (like with a tarp or something), but it seems that might make it very hot--and therefore it would probably be a no-no. (By the way, by "another" option, I mean one that's just as good: If digging it up is the best thing to do, I'll do it.) As I mentioned, this is at my parents' house, so I haven't been able to see it since Sunday, the 25th, two days after I planted it. Below I'll post some pictures I took late that day. The top looked a bit worse, but the rest of the tree looked about the same. My mother has been watering it twice a day since then; she says it looks about the same. With luck, I'll get a chance to go over there this afternoon and see what I think; I'll post photos if I think they add any new information. Again, thanks to everyone for the help so far. Dan

Same here - I buy a few every year because they are just delights in the gloomy days of early February. A couple of dozen in wide bowl shaped pots are a winter joy and are cheaper than a bouquet of chrysanthemums or carnation. I always enjoy that mad extension growth of the foliage after blooming. If I put the pot under cover and keep it dry all summer, they do sometimes re-appear..but can be sketchy. Don't fret - I also came across 2 packets of species tulips I had forgotten about...will pot them up today.

Actually, it's not even a year out of date and has been in the fridge. It's probably still alive. It might not be so rapid, however. I wouldn't use it for something like bread machine without some backup yeast. For regular bread, proof it. Let it warm up to room temperature, then put it in a dish or measuring pitcher in about a cup of baby bottle temp warm water with a spoon of sugar or white flour, and set it somewhere gently warm. I use the top of the cable box. :) If it goes cloudy and starts to bubble within half an hour, or even an hour if your kitchen is cold, it's alive. If it just sits there and looks sad, toss it.

I have my MOB dress already purchased for my daughter's wedding. I can 100% guarantee you nobody else will be wearing the same thing...

Bought it at Goodwill for $2.25 - a brand new Calvin Klein swing-skirted, sleeveless pink - new with tags - cost over $250 new... From a four-year-old collection, near as I can tell, from Googling it. :)

When my baby sis got married, our Aunt (a guest) wore the same dress as mine, and I was the matron of honor! I was very embarassed, as I had bought my dress off the rack.

When our granddaughter was married two years ago, her mother (my DSD) and I had the same dress. She lives in California and I live in Florida. We never discussed what we were wearing until they got to our house a few days before the wedding. She described her dress and my heart just fell. We both got them out and sure enough they were the same. Hers was silvery-gray and my was navy. There was no time left for shopping, but she thought it was funny. Either than or she's a great actress!

When I got out of high school I moved to N.J. to live with my sister.

The following year on my lunch hour I went shopping and got this cute dress for easter(when people still dressed up).

My sister had the same idea and she stopped and got her dress as well,when we opened our bags to show each other we had the exact same dress,color and everything.

Yup we both kept and wore them.
