This is interesting and very relevant for me right now. I just did a ton on research on heucheras, etc. in full sun and in NC we don't play around, when we say full sun, we really mean it! :) What I found is that the darker heucheras/ellas do better than the lighter and if they are from the villosa (hoping I am remembering that name correctly) lineage, then all the better for heat tolerance. I put in two Obsidians and two Amethyst falls. They are getting full sun from 10 until 4 pm. I read several people saying that they had great success in and around this area or even farther south with these two in full sun. I think Solar Eclipse would do fine in your full sun, definately. I know this thread was from last year, but you still haven't gone through a summer yet, I'm thinking. I love the online pics of solar eclipse, but haven't purchased it b/c every time I see one locally, they are so faded/washed out and ugly, I just leave them there. I am afraid they would look like that for me all the time, just my luck! I did pick up a Redstone Falls this year, though. It is lovely.

Oregano can be grown from seed. However, much of what is available in the trade is not the good stuff ie it turns out to smell good but taste bland (also true of some of them sold as plants). The "best" culinary varieties have a somewhat acrid aroma, are very "spicy" and provide your tongue with a pleasant burning sensation. To be safe, buy the plant so you can judge the flavor yourself-don't rely on aroma alone as the bland ones smell good too. Be sure to ask the nursery owner if you can taste a leaf first! I agree with teryaki, it doesn't matter if it is "right" or not, just that you like it. One of the most rewarding parts of gardening is discovering the subtle differences between different cultivars and varieties. I find it almost addictive. Those of you who have gotten hold of good stock of oregano seed, please share your source. I am always looking for something to add to my collection. I do like the Twins/Olympic ad! In a way however, the powerful REAL "Human drama" in that story is a little "lessened" in a way because it's for only a "beer". I like glazed walls and am definitely an amateur--with a little experience. The easiest method, to me, is start with, for example, a BM pearl finish undercoat, and then take one of the metallic glazes, and cut it with one of the clear glazing mixtures--about 30 to 50 percent. You have to be pretty quick, and agile: have a stool handy. Roll on your glazing mixture top to bottom, and then hop on your stool with a long wallpaper brush--one that is about 30 some inches. In one gesture, move from top to bottom in one fell swoop. Repeat until your legs give out! You should practice on a piece of foam core or something like that to ascertain the percentage of color that you want....because once you start, if you get it wrong, you will see where you have played with the glaze too much--and you'll have to do the whole wall to make it look even. In my experience, metallics are unforgiving about "do-overs". They start to accumulate unevenly...
