WL, "Any special tips for catching them?" Just don't handle them. It is my understanding that armadillos can carry Leprosy. For that reason, and safety in general, any live catch traps should have protection for your hand at the carrying handle. I suspect that the NWS5300 Universal Trap with built-in nose cone trap would be suitable for armadillos. However, several other traps, like the Wickencamp Coon Trap (Model 302) or the Safeguard Pro Raccoon Trap, are suitable for armadillos. For traps with a rollover release, you should anchor the trap to prevent the captured animal from rolling the trap over and escaping. I lost several large gray squirrels before learning to attach an anti-rollover bar (a short piece of concrete re-bar) to my Havahart traps. If you are trying to catch an armadillo, you might want to use TreeBerry paste bait. If you prefer not to use a live trap, you could try a repellent like Whole Control. I have never used it, so I can't attest to its effectiveness. If all else fails, you could always try "the old reliable" Juicy Fruit gum. (grin) MM

What would you like/not like in a finished basement?

We are finishing our basement this winter also. We are only finishing 1/2 of the basement the other 1/2 will be for storage, washer and dryer furnace and oil tank and work shop. I don't want a bathroom. 2 full baths in the house for a family of 4 is enough for us to keep clean. We have a refrigerator in the basement now so we are going make a mini kitchen with just enouth room for a sink, microwave, and coffee maker. I am looking into Ikea cabinets for this. We are adding closets/pantry for storage of bulk items from cosco and BJ's. We will be using dry wall , ceramic tile for the floor, recessed lighting (cans) , and a suspended ceiling. I want to be able to get to any wires or pipes if I have to without having to break through drywall. The lights will be able to be turned on or off at the top of the stairs, as well as in the basement. The basement will also be on a separate heating zone to conserve oil during the winter. The room will be one open space and not divided into smaller rooms. This room is goning to be used mostly by my sons who are ages 14 and 11. I don't think that I would put much money into a basement if it's just for resale. I would just stick to the basics of four walls, ceiling, floor, heat and some closet space. The new owner will have their own idea on how to decorate and use the space. Keep it simple.

We have finished our basement in our old house and again in our new place. Most important - lights - we put in 1.5 more high hats in our basement that we did on our first or second floors where we have more natural light. We put in a half bathroom if we had the room I would have put in a shower stall - a half bathroom is nice when you have company or if you have children their friends are over and they can stay in the basement and leave the adults alone and vice versa. We also put in a lot of built in storage areas with doors. We put in carpet and as long as you have good HVAC system you won't have any musty odors.

What kind of decorating class would you like to take?

Topics I'd like to see addressed in a decorating class would be how to coordinate fabrics...i.e.combining patterns and colors. What to look for in quality furniture. How to arrange accessories. Pitfalls to avoid when selecting paint colors (don't go with gumball pink if you want a pink room, beware of the opaqueness of yellow, understanding how important undertones are,etc). Surely there are some rules to guide the novice, it would be good if those were spelled out to make the process a little easier. Throwing a little Fung Shui in there couldn't hurt. I don't mean all that chi stuff, focus more on the more logical aspect of it like where to place chairs and desks in a room so the person's back isn't facing a door, that sort of thing. How to chose carpeting, what does all that loop and pile jargon mean. I wished my teacher had provided a list of local sources for upholsterers, seamstresses, wholesale to the public suppliers, that have been vetted be her/him...so students can skip the middle-man and go directly to the person who is able to sew bedding, slipcovers or upholster furniture. I have taken several classes through the community center. What I discovered is that many of the instructors use this as a marketing tool to drum up clients. What the interior designer really wanted was for the students to hire her after they saw she was competent enough to teach the class but not so informative that they would think they can do this all themselves. So I never got the sense she was willing to give away all her trade secrets. But maybe she was just trying to keep it at a very beginner level so as not to saturate the students with too much information. I'm not saying we had to sit through a one hour sales pitch but I thought I should have walked away with a lot more information than I did. She did spend some time on proper placement of art, mirrors, etc on the wall..pointing out that most people usually hang them too high. So that part was good.

I love collecting them and sharing them.

It just takes me a little time to copy them and add the html tags and then post them and check to make sure I haven't messed one up. LOL And when hubby is home he expects a little attention and dinner.

Use them in e-mails and of course they are used here all the time.

Yes, you do need to send them to photobucket first or another place to host them. Photobucket is what I use. To put them on the message boards here you need to copy the 3rd line ...HTML Code is written next to that line. When I use them in e-mails I click on the picture itself and copy it, then paste into the e-mail.

Hi Dorothy.... good to see you here. Do you have any that are like for disabilities or awareness of diseases, such as diabetes, cancer, autism, arthritis, things of that nature?
