KayMy easy way to resize is (ON W XP) to go to my file cabinet and right click on the photo one choice is to resize and I have 4 choises. there are a lot of progrms I know

I grew up thinking that everyone had a cannon in their yard. A grandparent and an uncle each had one, so till I was about 5 I thought every home was so armed. I have no idea what the significance was, or where the cannons came from. We moved from that home when I was almost 6, and left the cannon behind.

Chisue, Yes I was on safari, that was taken in Kenya, I don't recommend anyone going there. I also went to Botswana which was like walking into a John Wayne or Stewart Granger movie set. Very exciting. It was not near as commercialized as Kenya.

Oh wow you have been to see it! I love your picture. Is it as amazing in person? How old do they think it is?

woodchuck - I think it's Nikko Blue. We had to transplant it last summer and the blue isn't as vivid this year as it had been.

My beautiful sweet Great Dane that we miss so much and in between his arms is our little girl Mia. This was just a month or so before he left us.

A group of pictures I did as a tribute to him when he passed on to the Rainbow Bridge.

This is the tribute I made for my little girl who joined your Dane just a few weeks ago. I understand your loss as I miss my companion more than words can say.

ravencajun...the Angel Oak is estimated to be over 1500 years old. I think that one can only get a true sense of it's size by standing under it. Like the Grand Canyon, you have to stand on the rim to get the feel of it's grandeur.

I love the size of them and they are so gentle. A friend of mine had one and he would drink out of the kitchen sink.

Hallelujah! It worked! I posted the picture in the first image uploads post, before I saw this one. I'm thrilled that it worked for me. It's such fun seeing everyone's pictures--esp. the darling grandkids and pets.

Jasdip I have had many many Danes that one was my last one he got lymphoma right after we moved here, by the time we knew it he was stage 4 and only live another 3 months. He was the most wonderful amazing dog we ever had and I know there will never be another like him.
This is a Christmas picture my neighbor did for us, we were down in Louisiana for Christmas and they were taking care of the dogs for us, that is their son in the pictures.

Danes are absolutely the best dogs, I have never seen one that I did not fall in love with. They are truly the Gentle Giants.

Anne, I like what you did with the cat photo. Did you do that yourself or have someone else do it?

I did it myself using various tools. I had taken the photo of the storm clouds quite some time ago from the upper floor of my town house. Likewise...her photo was a whole-body photo I'd taken a couple of years ago that I then trimmed to a head shot using MS Picture It! Express 7.0...removing the remaining background with a free on-line tool [online-image-editor.com]. I returned with the cleaned copy to MS Picture It!...softened the edges...and layered it over the cloud shot. It was fun and therapeutic.

I suppose...if I had more time to do this type of photo work I should buy a photo program but I've had so much luck using Picture It! and using the image editor when I need it...[both of which are free]...that I've never considered replacing either of them with a more sophisticated set of tools.

Anne, sometimes simple is best. I took a class for MS works when I first bought a PC. I figured it would help me learn the computer also. The work book I had to buy was so simple, it started out with "good morning" and taught you cut and paste by removing a letter, then pasting it somewhere. It reminded me of a child's work book like they used when I was in grade school. I would love to find a book that simple for working with photos. I emailed someone a picture of myself and when I got it back I was standing up to my knees in ferns with a waterfall behind me.

To woodchuck.mo: About Hydrangea color

Unless a hydranagea is the standard white variety, its color depends on the PH of the soil (acidic to basic). The soil must be acidic to produce the blue color. If the soil is neutral (ph 7) to basic, the color will be pink. It works just like litmus papar in chem lab: litmus paper turns blue in acid and pink in basic solutions.

It is tough in SE Wisconsin to get the blue color due to the high limestone content in our soils. Sulphur compounds are available at garden centers to acidify the soil around hydrangeas, but I have found that the recommended amount hardly affect our soils. There is too much limestone just beyond the plant's root circle.

The blue to pink hydrangea is an inicator plant. It indicates the ph of your soil

The beautiful blue color seen in garden centers are of plants grown in a pot where complete control of acidicy is possible.

If you plant, I recommend the new variety called something like "ever summer" (not the exact name). It blooms on new wood in June whereas the standard plant blooms on 2nd year wood. Blooming on new wood was important to my hydrangea this year. The plant came out of dormancy too early this year due to our warm March. Buds swelled on the old wood and was about to break open when April freezes killed these buds. Later the stem died also, but the plant revived in May sending up new shoots from the root and these shoots have new blooms that will soon be open. Without the ability to bloom on new wood, I would not have any blossoms this year.

As the blossom ages out, it turns green and finally browns in the fall. The bloom is long lasting, and new blossoms continue to appear as the older ones age out. The plant is susceptable to deer damage; the dear nip off new blossoms as they appear.
