I shot these through glass (and probably not very clean glass), using a long zoom, but you get the idea......

cute thanks for sharing,Friday I was getting ready to;leave for dialysis I saw something in the yard.I thought it was a groundhog,it moved I went out and looked.It was about a 15"snapping turtle NASTY...He kept trying to bite ,he wes jumping at me,and stink.I thought oh my gosh had my 2 jack russells found him as nasty as he was ohh myyy.I put him in hubbys office till he got home and he took him to a big stream miles away.

Susan: I think I've seen one, but that's about it, and no cats at all. I do have asclepias blooming, and in fact, I have two pods! I think I saw harlequin bugs all over the pods though....I wonder if they will damage them? I need to find some ladybugs, I have plenty of aphids for them! I did see a flash of orange near my vitex yesterday when I came home. I grabbed my camera and tried to capture it. I thought it might have been a queen or monarch, but nope. It had silvery spots on its underside. I have a few pics, but didn't get them uploaded yet. MissSherry, I had to really restrain myself. Looking for pics dark grout & 5x5 or 4x4 white tile

Bill, does a brick pattern 4x4 or 5x5 white tile with dark grout look bad? (Why do we only see subways with dark grout?) Let me put it this way-- it would look no better or worse than what you see in the picture I posted. Now, as to whether or not it would look "bad", that's up to you. My opinion, nor anyone else's would count. One thing to keep in mind, though-- if you're going to use a grout with that much contrast, the tile work had damn well be perfect, because if there's so much as 1/32" variation in a cut, or the size of a grout joint, it'll be seen bigtime. THAT'S why very few people will choose to use that much contrast. That, and the fact that it tends to overpower any other design feature in the room. But some people like that. Me personally, I like the look of that tub enclosure. It's the reason I saved it when it got posted about 5 years ago. But I'm in the minority.

I have white 4 by 4 backsplash tile. At first I was going to change it but I have come to like it. Simple like a set of pearls. Years ago, I was at staying at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV. I was waiting on the elevator to go up to my with another woman who was very pregnant. When the elevator came up from the lower floor (where the pool was) there was a frazzled looking young woman with a small boy and a baby in a stroller. The boy was crying and not very happy. His mother laughed and said he was mad because she had made him leave the pool. She was trying to calm him and telling him that his daddy was waiting on them and they were going to order lunch. She joked with the pregnant lady about how this is what she had to look forward to...we had a good laugh. Apparently, in the confusion we had not pushed our respective room floor buttons. The next thing I know the elevator opened to the Penthouse floor. Standing there was the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. You guessed it, John Travolta was getting ready to get on the elevator. He spoke to his wife and told her he was just coming down and to join them. Little did I know I had just ridden up on the elevator with Kelly Preston and her children. He was very friendly and said a few words to us. I never saw him again on our stay but, I certainly did look for him every day.

Ha! They were actually very polite, and walked around it. I don't know if the six-foot fence fazed the mother or not, but I'm sure the baby thought it was pretty daunting.

A couple of times the mother got ahead of the fawn, who appeared to be distracted by all the new sights. Then the fawn would realize mama was "far away" (maybe 20 feet), and she'd clumsily gallop up to her. It was so cute, but my attempts to capture a picture failed because the lighting wasn't compatible with action shots.

I'm glad you had your camera handy!

(And I know this is gonna throw a downer on this, but yesterday I saw a deer just off the main road. Looks like it had gotten hit and just barely made it to the grassy area. It was a goner, and it just really, really saddened me, to the verge of tears. Just all these cars whizzing by, and nature caught in the way of "progress.")

Pammyfay, like you, I am always saddened when I see a deer -- or any animal --for that matter, that has been hit and killed by a car. Guess it's bound to happen, but I hate to see it.

Baby animals are so darling! I'm always amazed by the deer that live right alongside the expressways here. We have forest preserves strung along through Chicago and suburbs where all sorts of 'wild things' are living pretty much as they did before we got here. We've returned big snapping turtles to the creek and have a great heron who nests alongside it every summer. Coyotes howl. Once in a while there's an owl hooting at dusk.

I think our climate is warming. Twice I've seen a bluebird in our yard, gathering nesting materials. I have NEVER seen one before!

I'd like to know what's making holes in our lawn -- about four inches diameter, carefully 'disguised' with a leaf across the opening. This is new too!
