Had a craving for a great BLT, so I went to Tony's.

Always been a âÂÂluckyâ day for us. We were married on a Friday the 13th.
I have a hankering for sweet and sour chicken and fried rice. If I can talk hubby into going to the store, that will be on the table tonight.

Just having a peanut butter sandwich and a pint of milk. We will be going to watch Alyssa in the Vacation Bible School program and they will have some kind of snacks there. It has been a very pretty day here in central Indiana today.

We are having left-over Italian. DH had tortellini bolognese and I had some chicken pasta dish. This is a good thing since I'm still nursing a swollen knee. Thanks for the reminder of Friday the 13th. It's my brother's birthday. He was born on a Friday, too. I must remember to give him a call. He lives in California so the time difference often gets in the way.

Juicy Hamburger steak, sweet corn, tomato.

We'll be grilling some burgers, topped with romaine, tomatoes, and a slab of vidalia onion. I need something on the side but can't decide. Baked sweet potato fries?

I made spaghetti tonight.

How did you fix your flounder, Laura? I'm always looking for ideas.

Left over italian here too...pasta and sausage links to be exact...did make a chocolate cake for dessert...and I made 2 loaves of sour dough bread so we added that to the menu ...the bread was particularly good tonight...I love homemade bread...and my sourdough is so good..I was worried that it might not comeback after 2 and 1/2 months on the road but its Carls for 18 what ever and it always comes back...it;s powerful...

For the flounder I just sprinkled some salt, pepper, & garlic powder on them. Gave each one a splash of olive oil, then gave them a dose of lemon juice & popped them in the oven at 400 for about 20 minutes. And Boom they were done. Instead of mashed potatoes I fixed baked potato wedges that were yummy. Also opened a can of peas for the guys...I don't eat them, & Molly is on a date..

Glenda: I haven't had a good BLT for ages. Glad you got to satisfy your craving.

Angelaid: I'm glad you feel that way about Fri/13th. I hope your husband went to the store.

Sue: Peanut butter seems to stick to the ribs as well as the roof of your mouth. Good basic to tide you over to snack time. I hope you enjoyed DVBS.

Georgysmom: Isn't a leftover meal just the best? Especially when the 'firsts' were good. Happy Birthday to your brother.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, ANGELAID!

So I guess it's true that "fish fry" is a regional thing because no one ever mentions it. lol! Around here, "fish fry" is served at pretty much EVERY restaurant on Friday night -- and usually ONLY Friday night. The coatings vary by restaurant (breaded, beer battered, etc.) but the fish is usually haddock and it's usually served with french fries and coleslaw. Everyone here has fish fry on Friday night! ;^) ours was take-out tonight because there were errands to run.

Tuesday when I was in Pierre I checked out the outdated meat department again. I usually buy the cheap chuck steaks. They didn't have any this time. They had something new in there. They are called frypan steaks. I don't know if they are taking the place of chuck steaks or what. I made two of them for dinner tonight. I tenderized them first and then I fried them in a cast iron skillet that I had sprayed with Pam. They were really good. A good thing because I bought all they had. DH made a sandwich out of his and I ate mine plain. Has anyone ever seen these steaks?

Local fish fry is usually all-you-can eat Lake Perch or Walleye.

Old fixer I don't have one so I just chopped into it with a not real sharp knife on both sides and going both ways like a checkerboard. LOL

Party, when you mentioned the 'fish fry' thing in your post, I immediately thought of my childhood in Central NYS. There was (is?) a large Italian Catholic population in the area and fish fridays were the norm in restaurants and in schools. It felt strange to NOT have fish every single Friday....for lunch, at least.

I don't know if it's still like that, but I'll bet it is. 'Fish Fridays ' have never been part of the culture anywhere else I've lived.

That's the spot, rhizo, and it's the same! that's fine by me -- anyone who has left the area always wants a fish fry when they're back for a visit! Do we know each other?! lol!
