One final baby update

I had one more ultrasound today to check the status of the 2nd baby. My doctor was right, baby didnt make it. The sac was almost empty and obviously no more heartbeat was present. I expected this so I'm completely ok with it. Something wasn't right and it wasn't meant to be.

But, the other baby looks great!!! It is about the size of a cashew, has a great heartbeat of 171 beats per minute and was measuring 3 days ahead. So this is great news!

Only 3 more weeks til my 2nd trimester and hopefully I'll get some energy back.

Thank you everyone who kept me/us in your thoughts and prayers and sent good wishes.

Second round rec'd today - thanks so much Kim! This should just about take care of the final few jugs of wintersowing I had left; very ready to be done with it :-). Will get the stamps out to you ASAP. For all the gripes I have with the PO, they did manage to get them here durn quickly I think, and for that I thank them; and I thoroughly understand, Kim... I'm not good with numbers myself... words yes, numbers no way. ;-) Re the move, Kim and stage_rat, that's just been a dream of mine for 20+ years... not going to happen any time soon (if ever). Yes, need to let things settle here I guess; I do tend to cut and run when things get bad (or just turn my music up really loud). My mom and dad moved 80 miles away several years ago (to get out of the city), and now my mom tells me I can't move to Oregon until *they* die... (???!!!) lol. This from the woman who moved away from her whole family in PA to *TX* and then eventually to *MO*. lolol. And she's only half kidding when she says I have to wait. Thanks for the complements, Simon - I stopped watering at the end of November just started again last week. Last year I used Grow More 10-52-10 fertilizer, recommend by Quan of Ong's Nursery, every three weeks. This year, I'm going with alaska fish emulsion every 4-5 week. I also mix my eucalyptus mulch with chicken manure another recommendation from a CRFG old timer. NathanL You can buy a Glenn from your local Armstrong Nursery in the summer, they'll order one for you from Laverne, or you can pick one up in Mimosa Nursery in East Los Angeles. jsvand5 - and here in CA we are jealous of all the tropical stuff you guys are able to grow. red_sea_me Yes, that's an interesting comparison but I'm afraid I'm going to have to wait a few years to see any meaningful results...my Edward is only 5' tall.

We once had a mama fruit bat and her four babies hit the window of our home... We had a covered front porch that I put them on, in a box with the lid partially open (I can't remember anymore...but it may have been rainy)...I went back out to check on them later and she was gone...and had taken one baby with her. Later she came back and took them one by one. I think when she hit the window it knocked her out..unless the play dead. But they must have all been okay. This happened during daylight. I was surprised that she was flying around during the day...do they do that? patti

Thank you all! For the tile lovers, there is a story behind it. I always had a strong vision for this kitchen, and part of the vision was the absence of upper cabinets and a wall of statement tile. I am obsessed with Moroccan mosaics, but when I priced them out, the real mosaic, i.e. the pattern made up of actual small pieces of tile, was prohibitively expensive. Lookalike tiles produced here that are just a stamp of the pattern on tile were cheap but looked cheap, the printed pattern began to peel off in a very short time. The tile I ended up with, I first found online here at like $30 PER TILE. And I was ready to buy it! My DH, though, who is of Arab extraction and very wily, saw the stamp on the back of the tile that read "Doremail" in Arabic, and told me to look for the factory online first. Lo and behold, not only is this factory online, but when I wrote to them, they were perfectly pleasant and professional. We bought this tile https://doremail.com/en/andalusian-tiles/719-sevilla.html and this tile https://doremail.com/en/oriental-tiles/895-fares.html 150 sqft airlifted to Dulles airport was only $1,500, which is basically the price of midrange Home Depot tile! And there are so many other gorgeous options. So very happy to give them the plug. Re: breakfast nook, I wanted to buy specifically from the restaurant supplier because the benches/booths you get in regular furniture stores are not designed with the same level of quality and detail. People who make furniture for restaurants understand that the goal is to make the customer so comfortable in the chair that he/she will want to sit there for a long time and order more. So if you look at your standard diner booth, you'll see that it is angled in the seat, in the back, in the shin area, and that makes it much more comfortable than your standard 90-degree angle bench you buy in "regular people" furniture stores. And it's not THAT much more expensive, and you can get it made to custom size very easily because they are used to it. I mean, try telling Wayfair: "oh, this one is fine but can you make it in gray and four inches longer".

I know it's a numbers game, and it's so wonderful you're getting a baby! You're so blessed to have your children. (I'm counting "cashew" as a child now! LOL)

I honestly believe Baby 2, and the others, will come back into your life and bless it. Perhaps not as your children, but they will be real, and real blessings to you.

I am so relieved....and so happy you have such a great outlook on this. So happy this one is growing and doing fine. Grant is going to be a good big brother...I can see them sliding together now into their pool! Of course I see a pink bikini on HER! LOL...either way it's all good news, boy or girl!

Wonderful news that the little cashew is doing well.

I had a somewhat profound thought about tiny non-cashew #2 that evidently didn't make it -- did you know that by he/she being being reabsorbed into your body, his/her nutrients, proteins, etc. are not only helping little cashew #1 grow ever stronger, but is helping you during this time when nutrients and growth are all so important. Just a thought that sometimes a supposed negative can be a life-affirming positive.

I have been thinking about you Steph and was happy to see your update. Just from the title of your post I knew the little one didn't make it but it is wonderful news that your little "cashew" is doing well. Grant is going to be a great big brother.
