Oh, no kidding! It's been a loooooong week.

We'll be yard-saling tomorrow morning. After that, I'll be taking naps and not too much else. LOL!

Taking grandaughter home... Going to get groceries tomorrow, going to thr funeral home and a small yard concert tomorrow evening.

Then our son, his wife and kids are coming for a cookout on Sunday.. First time bringing the twins here...

Supposed to get my parking lot swept today, but since it's snowing right now I might have to get the guy to plow it first...rofl. Today I will finish up some touch ups in a suite I painted yesterday, clean the suite, get all my crap out and finish up the paperwork so new tenant can move in tomorrow. Oh I also have to fix his mailbox. Then I will go to one of my other buildings to do a checkout and take pictures of the stuff the tenant left behind (I poked my head in there the other day and saw some furniture, a freezer, few other things.) Then I will vacuum the building I live in, take out the garbages and the dreaded newspapers that pile up, clean all the doors and windows, clean the laundry room. If I still have any oomph after that's done I will work in another suite that needs my attention. Just another day in paradise here... I am ready for a nap just reading of all your plans. My weekend so far has been quite glamorous. I dropped Mom at the hairdresser. Today was Perm Day so I had a couple extra hours. I went through the car wash, got gas and returned a pan to BB&B. Then I came home and continued the ultra-glam job of scrubbing the kitchen floor. The grout was filthy. God, I hate that floor with a red hot passion.Then back to retrieve Mom. She smelled like ammonia. I swear I am going to start a blog about that hairdresser and all the riotous elderly patrons. Since the Californians are coming to visit soon, (bro and DS #1), I am trying to get the place straightened up. Never ends. Jakabedy, sounds like we are having the same sort of day. I also bought some tickets on a whim, to hear Mika Brzezinski and her mother, who is a noted sculptor, speak. I have to give the plants a good soak. My grass is now crunchy, it has been so dry. I even watered a young tree the other day. It's a Redbud and I don't want to lose it. And the rest of the weekend is pretty much the same. My two closest friends are away so I have no playmates. Earlier this week I made the drive from Philadelphia, to Portsmoth NH for the night, then Boothbay Harbor Maine. The return trip was Boothbay to Andover MA for the night, then home. My eyes felt like two burned cigarette holes when I pulled in my driveway. Saw one bad accident that put the fear of God in me, although there are still the idiots out there. Lots of backups along the way, too. I could not believe the traffic trying to get on the Tappan Zee going the opposite way from me. I'd have turned around and gone home.

Week 74: What's for dinner....or planning your kitchen to your style

My kitchen remodel was absolutely designed around how I cook & how we use the kitchen. Three things I wanted were: 1. Lots of natural light - I cook from-scratch meals almost every day and spend a lot of time here. In addition to prep/cooking, this is where most casual entertaining happens, where I fold laundry, work on the computer, and where DH & I eat most meals. I used to have one small window and we looked at walls of upper cabinet boxes (depressing). We eliminated many uppers, added storage in the island, put the range in the corner so that this is now what I see when I'm working there. 2. Induction range - I also chose my stove for how I cook. I prefer the look of a pro-style gas stove but chose induction because the perfect stovetop temp control works best for my style of cooking. I don't do wok or high sear frying, but for 9 months of the year you'll likely see a pot on my stovetop. I do lots of stocks, soups, stews & chowders. Induction was made for simmering! Here's the pot of chicken stock I have going on this rainy day. 3. Big stone (no prep sink) island -I chose to have a big, uninterrupted island top that, in addition to being our preferred everyday eating spot, also works as a serving table for buffets (has the plugs for crockpots/warming trays). It also allows for a number of people to work around it with room to spare. Like when the grands come over for the annual Christmas cookie bake ;) There are SO many elements I just love in other kitchens posted here but some just wouldn't have worked as well for me. I've used this kitchen for almost a year now, though, and still appreciate it every day. Great thread to get people in the planning stages to really consider their priorities for use over just looks. Were going home later this week, probably Friday. At least for the weekend. I'm lugging an electric fireplace from my cousins basement as a temp loaner. My sons GF also has loaned me one. My home is all one floor, no basement and its very well insulated. My plan is to put a fireplace at each end of the home along with extra smoke alarms and see what happens. if I can maintain 67 degrees F.....that will work for now. We want to get our Christmas decorating done. Anyone use these electric fireplaces? If I can't get a 67deg temp we will decorate and head back to my cousins. None of us like it hot indoors, but I'm not about to stay where its cold. LOL. I have another estimate tomorrow at 9am so that will eat up an hour of my morning. Star★ I hope good things at your doctor appt. I take Amiee to Pittsburgh often...maybe one day we can meet up for lunch or coffee.

Hopefully leaving tomorrow to go see my grand babies.That is if they have my truck ready by this afternoon.It was suppose to be done yesterday but they didn't finish it.

Tonight our daughter has invited us all to her house to christen her new dining room set. This weekend I have a lot to do in the yard - and I very much enjoy doing that.

shopping of course...then dh sometime has to mow the grass. wish i could!
i get to sleep in sunday am, as the boys and sil are taking him golfing for father's day...they have a 6:50a tee off...

since my stiches are healing, i'm seriously thinking of moving furniture while they're gone (everything is on wheels) getting ready for the summer...dh is going to put in the ac unit in the window and it blows directly on your head where the sofa is now...we'll see, lol....

The usual laundry and a little cleaning. My main job this week end is to relax. I have taken a furlough from therapy for 6 weeks to decide if I am going to continue.

My son is coming for a visit this afternoon. We're going a Friday afternoon 'seniors' matinee to see "UP". My son is an IT guy and he is entertained by graphics from Pixar.

Then, we'll go the Waukesha airport where a fly-in is in progress. A bunch of WW2 warbirds will there and we will be able to get up close with the camera. A couple of Soviet planes are expected also.

After that, we might play a round of disc golf.

We are babysitting The Prince. DD and DSIL are doing a weekend getaway at a resort hotel local to our house, so we are doing the honors with the grandson. It will be a fun weekend with our 2 1/2 year old darling.

I haven't made plans, probably play more catchup on cleanup.

Maybe eat out Saturday or Sunday.

i was supposed to go to dh (thats not dear) to get the rest of my stuff. i want it done all in one day or it will be one argument after another for just a few boxes and i didnt make it to our local grocery store in time before they crushed all of theirs. ill probably give my dad a hand cutting rafters for the peaked roof hes putting on, my brother sure wont. then ill probably just veg out for the weekend, with the rain we have had we cant work so its been a bad week.

We are having our "senior" dinner at church...it's called Fourty Five and a Dinner Plate...The age limit has been dropped down to 45 because everyone wants to come...Now the one in their 30's are begging to come too.

I decorated for it last night...We are having a Luau.
I made palm trees for the tables..big palm leaves to sit out on the table along with flowers, hula skirt, hats and leis for everyone.

Sandy C. is doing the cooking...I'm taking a Hawiian cold slaw. It has shredded cabbage, pineapple,mandarian oranges with nutmeg and another spice...maybe ginger...??? can't remember right now, topped with Mayo.

Sunday our kids will all be here..I think we'll cook out.
We have three nice picnic tables (actually four, but it's not as nice...lol) and one of my daughters doesn't like to eat outside with the bugs. I'd love to make it a picnic.

We're staying inside. We have a heat warning and DH has congestive heart failure, so he doesn't need to be out in it. It's miserably hot--95 but with the heat index it's 105--and going higher this weekend.

Well, tomorrow is the town wide rummage, so we plan to go. Then back home and probably do housework. The black raspberries are beginning to ripen too! I wish it would cool down. Sunday I hope to go to church. Don't know what else will come up this weekend. Hope everone else has a great weekend.

Headed to a baby shower cookout in a while..the dad, my nephew, is being deployed again overseas. Have my GD's Tball in the morning, drop her off at an aunt's for the afternoon, get a haircut, food shop and rest!

Tomorrow my SIL and I are going on our annual pilgrimage to a garden centre in Spaniard's Bay, about an hour away. We'll have lunch at a little B & B in Cupids which has come highly recommended. Then we'll hit every garden centre along the "bay road" on the way home as well as a little shoe shop I know of.

On Sunday morning, it is our church picnic, a friend's 60th birthday open house in the afternoon, and then a Father's day BBQ at my other SIL's for dinner.

The weather is supposed to be good as well, always a bonus!

Tomorrow, I shall veg. Sunday I will be headed to East Texas to visit a friend for her birthday. We are going to make tortillla soup, and she has a new recipe for a cake.
Need to be home by Tuesday to take DH to the airport for his annual 10 day fishing trip with his dad.

Ahhhhhh....the house will be clean......for 10 luxurious days....

work, all week long, ....we discharged half our patients today and there were only 2 RNs on the floor. Not a good day. Tomorrow should be better. 4 more working days!!!!!!!!!!

I started yesterday sorting out all my fabric stash and it's a big one.I'm going to try and sell some on Craigs list,never did that b4.
I know i will never sew even 1/2 of what i have,as there is no one around to sew for anymore and i don't even quilt these days as much as i used to so no sense holding onto all that.I've got 3 big green trash bags full already and havn't even made a dent in it.

Laundry. Just got back from a short vacation... so not doing much this weekend, although today is DH and my 22nd anniversary.

I watered my tomato plants this morning and one of my flower beds. Cleaned the kitchen really well today. Washed all the dishes in the dishwasher. Took a good 2 hour nap then played on the computer.

I've taken my shower and am dressed for bed. Will get up and water some more in the morning then to church. We will pick up some fried chicken for lunch. The son is preparing Father's day dinner Sunday at 6:30. I'm really looking forward to his grilling, he is a great cook. I'm taking potato salad and comeback salad dressing. That should about finish the weekend.
