Pedicure for dummies... I have a ???

I have once again talked myself into trying a pedicure. But, last night, I got 2 mosquito bites on the top of my foot. I'm not supposed to get a pedicure if there is any open wound, right? there are two small spots. EVERY time I talk myself into getting a pedicure, there is a story on the news or in the paper about someone getting a disgusting rash that they haven't been able to get rid of for 9 months.. or I have a cut or something.

So, 2 days ago, I decided to give it another try, and then I get the bites.! LOL

I hate getting mosquito bites on my feet. If they are really bad out I wear my rubber boots just to avoid skeeter bites on the foot.

If you've got a bad ingrown toenail, you need to see a doctor not get a pedicure. What they are tyring to do can only worsen the problem... which it sounds like is what is happening. See a doctor... having part of an ingrown toe nail cut off 'by a doctor' shouldn't cause any permenent problems. Why go back to the nail place when they are probably the ones that not only caused your problem, but are making it worse? They obvioulsy don't know what they are doing and picking/cutting at the nail can only make it worse.

The previous posters are essentially correct. Mortar is merely a broader classification. Thinset is really a shorthand way of saying thinset mortar, and is one of several types of mortars you can buy. You can also get medium-set mortar if you are laying large heavy tiles or mortar designed for laying bricks or concrete blocks. You can use thinset in either of the ways you describe, spread it onto the surface, and press the tess into it, or put the thinset onto the tess and press them onto the surface. Both methods can work, its mostly a matter of which makes job easiest. You can even do both, spread the thinset in a thin even layer onto the surface, and butter the back of the tess, and press then into place. When people refer to using thinset as a sealer, they mean coating the surface with a thin layer of thinset and let it harder completely, so that the surface is sealed, before starting to attach tess to it. They are also right that if it is pre-mixed, and comes in a bucket, it is not thinset, period, irrespective of any label on the container.

If it was up to me, I would delete EVERYTHING that you acquired thru Frostwire, and then uninstall Frostwire completely. I'd then run Malwarebytes , ESET online scan and every other antimalware tool you can. If you still have trouble, find a computer shop and pay them to clean it up. Frostwire might be a useful tool for some, but if all you are looking for is free music then there are a multitude of ways to get it that carry little or no risk. Frostwire itself may be safe, but many who use it are not to be trusted. If you don't know how to protect yourself, you're better off to leave it alone.

I completely and fully understand variable and semi-variable, as well as fixed. The point I was trying to make, which apparently flew right over your head, is that there is, indeed, a difference between paying a percentage of sales to the suite owner as opposed to paying fixed rent to the suite owner. If I am paying a percentage of my intake each month, it doesn't matter how many hours I work or how much money I bring in, because the ratio remains the same. As long as my portion of that ratio is enough to cover my monthly expenses (home mortgage, utilities, car payment, groceries, etc.), I can work as much or as little as I desire. If I am paying a fixed rental amount each month to the suite owner, it can definitely affect me more. If my monthly rent is $600 but I only work enough to bring in $120, I still have to pay the suite owner $600. This will adversely affect all of my other financial responsibilities. I'm sorry that you can't see that difference. For the record, whether you retain this info or not - our home is owned free and clear, as is my car, and my husband's car. We do pay for utilities each month, and food.

Kat - funny you would ask. I was just reading an article last night in one of my magazines about pedicures. I want to go get one too and so does DD but this article was talking about how common staph infections are at all these places because they don't sanitize like they are supposed to. I would definitely not go if I had bites especially if they are open from scratching.

I've never had a problem and I've gotten one with a poison oak rash and a recovering broken foot. If the place you go to is clean you shouldn't have any problems. Especially if it is just a bite and not scratched to raw skin. I say go and enjoy it.

I would LOVE to have a pedicure, but I am too embarrased by my feet!

Barb, no matter how bad your feet look they have seen worse. I suggest you get a Ped Egg and start using it along with a cream made for feet. I use Gold Bond Foot Cream. Your feet will look better in no time. They will also look much better after a pedicure. If you don't want to go by yourself, grab a friend and go together. Relax and enjoy it.

* Don't get a pedicure if you have cuts or abrasions on your feet or legs. Microorganisms living in footbaths can enter through the skin and cause infection.
* Don't shave, wax or use hair removal creams within a day before getting a pedicure
* Don't get a pedicure if you have bug bites, bruises, scratches, scabs or poison ivy.

I saw something on TV about safe pedicures and it said do not go to places that use the foot baths with the jets because they don't get cleaned properly between clients.

You can bring your own pedicure tools so you'll know they haven't been used on anyone else.

Thanks all! I didn't go. It's two bites, that drew blood... so there is raw skin... well, scabbed over now! lol
Dorothy, I saw that too, but i've called EVERY WHERE down here and they ALL use the foot baths... all jetted. ONe lady said "How would it look if I brought out a rubbermaid container? everyone LIKEs the baths." LOL My neighbor and her hubby have gone to this place for a couple years.

Very nice Glenderama....

My feet look like Fred Flinstone's! lol

I get my pedicures at the beauty school and it has the jetted foot baths. While I am getting the polish applied to my toe nails the jets are going with Clorox 2 added to clean water. They do a thorough cleaning with bleach once a week, I think. Maybe it is once a day with bleach.

Linda are you sure it is only Clorox 2? Clorox 2 is a whitener. It is not a germicide. Regular formula Clorox is the only type of Clorox that is a registered disinfectant. Even the scented versions are unregistered. Check the link below.
