Hi everyone, are any of you that use yahoo having problems with the search engine..whenever I type in a website a banner comes up for Aexis I think that's the name of it which seems to be the next level up I suppose.. Since I choose not to get this version right now it won't continue my search, anyone have any idea how to fix this other than giving in to their pressure to push you into something that you don't want.

Been using DuckDuckGo as my default search engine and recommending it for quite a while. And WTH, I like the duck! Occasionally I also use and recommend IxQuick and StartPage. They're probably about the most private search engines out there. And yes, some don't care. I do. And no, nothing is 100% private, nor secure on the internet. I used to use Mamma (the Mother of all search engines) and Dogpile to avoid the "G" spot whenever I could. I got tired of hearing Oh yeah, the proper term now I was offended by people saying they "googled" something so I didn't want to feed the beast. Seemed as appropriate to me as "I Charmined", "I Red Lobstered" or "I Toyotaed" something. People have to have a nonsensical phrase for everything. Isn't it "delish"? And Joyful, don't forget the Kitchen Table Kommandment Thou shalt not make a joke or someone shalt be offended! ;) Anyway, you should really have more than one search engine when you're searching. Some pick up things others don't. There is no one "best".

I just typed the word "search" into the current engine, and this thread did not turn up on the first page of results. I also knew a basic no-earlier-than date, and that the original post contained the terms "garden*" (didn't know if it was "gardenweb" or "garden web"), and that one of the followup posts contained "google". I couldn't recall the posters name, but if available, I would have entered "gw*" in the field for original posters name. How about: 1. Search by title (any phrase or blank, wildcard would be helpful, ands and ors within the search) and 2. Search by individual post content (any phrase or blank,wildcard would be helpful, ands and ors within the search) and 3. Search by entire thread content. and 4. Search by thread originator (any phrase or blank, meaning it may not be the posters exact, complete name) and 5. Search by contributor (any phrase or blank, meaning it may not be the posters exact, complete name) 6. Return results by mm/dd/yy hh:mm of original post or time of last contribution by anyone or time of last contribution by above-searched contributor and 7. Choose recently started posts first or reverse or 8. Instead of sorting by post origination date, sort by contribution date. 9. Return titles only or return text like today Is it possible to search posts older than a certain date? I am not sure, because I do not have patience for the current search, but I believe that posts older than a certain date are unavailable?

I have about ten search engines but the only one I ever really use is Yahoo and I have not had any problems with it.

I don't like google because they wanted my phone number to register. I immediately got 4 telemarketer text when I hung up. I got rid of anything google and now use Altavista for a home page. Yahoo is the search engine. The only problem I have had with it is, when I open a new tab the help forum comes up, several threads in miniature instead of a blank page. It may have to do with FF 13 update. I had it set to notify me about updates and it went to default.

Why would you need to register for Google? I use it daily, and I've certainly never registered.

Just type google.com into your browser and use it. It's just a search engine. It's free, and they don't ask for any information.

Have never...and WOULD never...register. Never even heard of that before...betcha you had some malware or something asking for your imfo.

Yes, I would be very careful, Google has never made you register and definitely not provide a phone number. I would be running an updated malwarebytes scan immediately. That sounds like you got a scam or malware.

Plantmastern that does not sound like part of yahoo at all it sounds like something trying to do a redirect, I wouldn't go anywhere near it. I would suggest also running an updated malwarebytes scan too.

Oh, and Yahoo is/will dump AltaVista, if they haven't already. It is a dinosaur among search engines - and it was never very good.

And, yes, I used it.

That's funny how we have our habits.
Yahoo is my email, and it has the search button at the top of my email page, yet I never think of using it!!! I open a new tab every time and use Google.

I should use yahoo once to see if I even like it. That's funny.

You do not need a phone number to google.
