Hi everyone, are any of you that use yahoo having problems with the search engine..whenever I type in a website a banner comes up for Aexis I think that's the name of it which seems to be the next level up I suppose.. Since I choose not to get this version right now it won't continue my search, anyone have any idea how to fix this other than giving in to their pressure to push you into something that you don't want.

Kat, I've decided to quit concerning myself with it...not much one can do. If it is someone I have traded with (and know) I will maybe put a link to the 'right' (original post with the correct spelling and all), and try and point future posters in that direction...otherwise I figure members can/will take care of it themselves maybe(?). That way, at least I can help those I 'know.'

If he wishes to have Chrome as his default browser instead of IE, he needs to download and install it. I believe it will set itself automatically as the default browser. Just leave IE as it is, because he will need that for doing his Microsoft updates. It's a good idea to have more than one browser available for use. Hope this is what you want to know, since, as azinoh has written, Chrome is not a search engine but a browser.

I do not have any default browsers. They use up a ribbon across the top of my window and most of the time, I want that space for other things. When Bing sneaked in on a software update, I promptly uninstalled it. What I do is keep a list of addresses to popular search engines in my bookmark list. I put them all under one folder and named that folder something I could remember such as "Search Engines". I have a wide screen monitor so I keep the bookmark window open all the time. Anytime I want to search, I'll open a new blank window and click on the URL of the search engine I wish to use. Soon, the connection is made and I can conduct searches without closing my prime job. The search engine screen sits on top of my work window. I can toggle back and forth between the two windows. When I'm done with the search, I close that window. Currently, I have 10 search engines bookmarked. Two of those are my favorites.

I have about ten search engines but the only one I ever really use is Yahoo and I have not had any problems with it.

I don't like google because they wanted my phone number to register. I immediately got 4 telemarketer text when I hung up. I got rid of anything google and now use Altavista for a home page. Yahoo is the search engine. The only problem I have had with it is, when I open a new tab the help forum comes up, several threads in miniature instead of a blank page. It may have to do with FF 13 update. I had it set to notify me about updates and it went to default.

Why would you need to register for Google? I use it daily, and I've certainly never registered.

Just type google.com into your browser and use it. It's just a search engine. It's free, and they don't ask for any information.

Have never...and WOULD never...register. Never even heard of that before...betcha you had some malware or something asking for your imfo.

Yes, I would be very careful, Google has never made you register and definitely not provide a phone number. I would be running an updated malwarebytes scan immediately. That sounds like you got a scam or malware.

Plantmastern that does not sound like part of yahoo at all it sounds like something trying to do a redirect, I wouldn't go anywhere near it. I would suggest also running an updated malwarebytes scan too.

Oh, and Yahoo is/will dump AltaVista, if they haven't already. It is a dinosaur among search engines - and it was never very good.

And, yes, I used it.

That's funny how we have our habits.
Yahoo is my email, and it has the search button at the top of my email page, yet I never think of using it!!! I open a new tab every time and use Google.

I should use yahoo once to see if I even like it. That's funny.

You do not need a phone number to google.
