I finally have something to give away! (drawing inside)

I think the giveaways I've seen on this forum are so cool, but I haven't been crafty for some time. (I hope to fix that.) However, I came up with another giveaway idea:

I have some 5x7 photographs (unframed) that I had printed for the photo exhibit, but didn't use. If you'd like one, add your name here, and list the photos in order of your preference:

(clockwise from top left)

Zinnia

Delphinium

Sunflower (with bee)

Rose (Abbaye de Cluny)

I can't guarantee you'll get your favorite, but I'll see what I can do. This will be fun!

HA...gooseegg...ours was SUPPOSED to be Christmas! Now builder is saying end of April but I'm still skeptical. They were supposed to turn the heat on today but it turns out the gas valve is wrong or something so we can't start mudding yet without the heat (didn't know that) but it really is FREEZING in there - the drywallers were such great sports for working so hard and diligently. At least you're doing the exterior! That's good! I think you'll still be in before me! We don't have stucco color yet (just scratch coat) or stone. We've had snowstorms every week!

Did you set a minimum bid of $90 or was it a buy-it-now price? I'd either set a lower minimum bid (as igloochic suggested) and take your chances or do a buy-it-now auction and maybe even allow best offers if you don't mind taking less. It seems to me the largest expense to installing a pot filler would be the plumbing required, so I doubt people are hesitating just because of the price. They may not want to bid because your starting price is high enough that they don't feel compelled to bid right away, so they watch it instead and then they change their minds or move onto something else. I think you should encourage them to make a quick decision with a buy-it-now auction if you're not willing to roll the dice and set a low minimum bid. But if you are, $.99 usually gets things moving pretty fast! Good luck!!

Doug - the trends you talk about in terms of decreasing buying power, shrinking middle class, etc are real and truly disconcerting. The slightly paranoid side of me made sure I purchased a home that could, if needed, be a mini homestead (enough space and the right light exposure to grow veggies and raise chickens). It's simplistic, because if the economy really does fall completely apart I can't farm my way to prosperity on a mortgaged piece of land. In my local market inventory is tight for homes at or slightly below the median because the available homes have some perceived flaw (too close to the highway, schoolyard, train tracks, busy road, other houses). Or they need significant work. Homes in good condition and good locations are quickly purchased if the price is fair. People are justifiably SO afraid of a house losing value that they are unwilling to purchase something with a flaw because they fear being unable to sell in the future. It actually makes sense, but it makes it almost impossible to sell property that is flawed - even for fire sale prices. There is excess inventory at the high end, homes in the top quartile are very slow to move and people aren't listing unless they absolutely have to. This is one reason that we decided to remodel earlier this year instead of move (it was a big remodel, moving could have been less if what we wanted was available).. Now, back to this issue of potential buyers being leery of homes with flaws ... I think that is what is holding back the sale of this house. There are probably buyers who look at it and, when they see the HOA issues, think to themselves, "Gee, even if the HOA issues are fixed, how long will this taint the value of the home? How many years until the stigma falls away? What if I had to sell in that time?" Buyers can't commit to this house on a long term basis because everything about this economy feels SO unstable right now. Is there a shortage of rental property (SFH) in your area? Because that was the other thing we looked at when we bought. I would have preferred to rent but we have a dog and SFH rentals are almost impossible to find in our area for under $3k/mo. With taxes and insurance, our 15 yr mortgage is under $2500/mo ... So, worst case we could rent this place if we had to move out and we would likely cover the mortgage with the rent (or come close to it). I wonder if renting is an option for the OP? I know it's an expensive home, but still ... It may be an option, unless the HOA forbids it.

Had to come have another looksee. I love how you take the time to grind each piece to perfection. A true artisan for sure! There was a mannequin I saw recently that had a tattoo on it's back shoulder. Very cool, but I can't remember who the artist was. The flesh-colored glass will look great-- I think it will add that extra dimension we love for our mosaics. Beautiful pictures! I would like to have the opportunity to win the sunflower one. It is gorgeous. My kitchen is decorated in sunflowers (and they just might be creeping into my dining and living room :) The others, although very beautiful, I just don't see myself hanging anywhere in our home with our present decorating schemes. So, I would rather have someone else receive those. If you draw my name and the sunflower one is still available, I would be thrilled. If it is already gone, then please choose the next person.
