I was at my moms yesterday and saw a picture of Grant taken on Christmas Day, 2006. I realized that he was the exact same age as Camryn on that day as she was (yesterday). So I came home and took a picture of her for comparison.

Looking back at Grant, his picture makes me chuckle. What a bald little pudgeball he was! So cute!

Here they both are at age 5 months, 6 days.

It's amazing how similar they look. You can definitely tell they are brother and sister. So cute!

Ladylotus, I planted mine in June and they are only about 4" tall as well. I've only been using natural light though so that could be part of the problem. I know a lot of people use artificial and theirs start blooming in no time.

Sorry about the Pachy confusion..Actually, I meant Pachypodium seeds..the species is P. lealii. Warmth and Superthrive hastened germination. I've sown other Pachypodiums before, under lights and heat, yet they never sprouted this fast. Sage, when you say you water with a spritz of water, (soak a paper towel and squeeze) were you talking about seeds/seedlings? or mature succulents? Wannabe..you asked if Opuntia's are hardy, if you can keep outside year round. If Prickly Pear goes dormant, I don't think it's for long. Wannabe, it's best knowing which species you've got there..Seems to me Opuntias prefer cool temps, even as low as 30, but before planting them in the ground, find out which type/s you have, research and/or ask around. Google, purple leaf optunia, see what it says about your Prickly Pear. Where do you live, which state? One thing you can do is, say you get several of the same type. Plant a few in the garden when weather permits, and pot the others. After your pp matures, post pics or research opuntias. Some sites list numerous types/colors. Someone on Ebay had a purple leaf optunia on auction. I don't know if it's stil available, but when I check Ebay I'll see if I can find it..sellers usually list zones plants are hardy. Do you know your zone? There's an online nursery that sells cold-hardy cactus and succulents..Opuntias, Sedum/Hens & Chicks, etc. Hope I saved it to favorites..if I did, I'll post the name/addy. But it's important you know your zone. BTW, keep a journal. You don't have to buy anything expensive, even a notebook will do..Jot down name of plant, date sown, progress/date and height. It's so much easier going back to your notebook for info. I love my journal/s..lol.. I jot everything down. Places and dates plants and seeds are purchased. Size of plants upon arrival. Dates plants are fertilized, Superthrived, etc. Names and dates plants flower or berry. And so much more. It's really important when sowing seeds. Keeping track when you sowed, how long it took to germinate, size measured once a month or whenever you choose..One thing great about keeping a journal is going back to the beginning. Pruning 6-month olds

Judith, The best time to do pruning is when they are actively growing. If you see that they are under your light set-up, then it would be fine. When you prune, it can help w the caudex getting larger. This may happen. Sometimes when we cut a taller plant the caudex only gets fatter, because we have arrested the top growth until it begins to grow again. Where to prune is a personal choice on you part. If you prune lower down, you can get multiple branches giving a shrub type look. Higher up would not be as appealing. If you find that there are longer spaces between the internodes (leaves), this can a light, fertilizer or just genetics. Short spaces between internodes is what is really good to have. The caudex will get bigger as it ages either way. If any of your plants are destined to have really stout fat caudex's, it will happen through the genetic make up if the individual plant. Such as the one in photo (front, black square pot). I have pruned many just to experiment and some of the really tall ones, just produced more lower branches, but the caudex did not necessarily get large. Rick

Does a 6 month old sod lawn need spring fertilizer?

It's recommended to put down a spring fertilizer with weed control in the spring. Apply it when forsythia start blooming for optimal results. It won't hurt your lawn. Assuming you follow directions. Whether or not to fertilize is up to you. I mulch my clippings and if I didn't supplement with fertilizer, my lawn would look bad. If I just spent a lot on sod, I would fertilize. Lawns don't naturally occur anywhere in nature. You have to do unnatural things, like apply fertilizer, to keep them looking good. What some might consider looking good would never appear in a scotts ad.

I thought the one on the left was Camryn without a headband finally, then I read your text. They're too cute and both pretty good to sit up at that age.

Looks like Grant souped up the bike.

Camryn and her headbands...I go a little crazy with them! They're cute!

I see similarities but I dont think they look as much alike as you all do...I guess because I see them daily.

Their personalities are very different. Grant was always a high maintenance baby. Had to be entertained and was fussy alot. Camryn is very mellow and easy going. Thank God! :-)

Well, Camryn is so feminine looking and Grant looks all boy, to me.
I love seeing them! Makes me smile all day long.
I have been looking at Jake and Mio pictures today.....same age pictures and I can certainly tell the difference.
Fun, isn't it to compare your kids at the same ages.

Seeing this really shows the resemblance more than I saw before! Wow...they look so much alike! How cute....you need to have these framed now....and I see a cool scrapbook page! have you started her scrapbook yet? I am so far behind!!LOL....jumping into Kayla's soon and she's not even here yet!

Great timing Steph and what a great idea to pose them with the same toy! Grant and Camryn sure do look like twins in the pics.
