That's perfectly normal sized, and quite a bit larger than mine (which are also 1.5 months old now).

Not very big containers due to lack of space, I'm afraid. They are about 8 inches deep, 8 inches wide. Will this be ok?

That's a very small container, and it will limit the size of the plant and the number of peppers
(and the size of pods) that you harvest. You will also have to water more often.

Yeah, hot peppers especially are pretty slow growing.

You can get some nice production out of a 3 gallon pot:)

Just heard in another thread that you can get free 5 gallon buckets from Walmart's deli department if you ask. Haven't tried it out yet, but if so they're going to be calling me the Bucket Man from now on.

I'm assuming they get bulk ingrediants in the buckets and they just toss 'em or something afterwards instead of going to the expense to ship them back, clean them, and re-use them.

You are correct. There are Walmarts in over two dozen countries, but Greece is not one of them. In fact, most of continental Europe seems to be lacking in them.

I get the 5 gal white containers from the bakery department at Walmart...They're originally filled with frosting for their cakes. I just picked up 6 five gallon, and 5 two and half gallon containers this morning. I try to go early in the mornings to pick up as they are not busy yet.

That looks normal size to me for the type and age. Is it outside or inside? If you can go with a larger container, you'll be in much better shape. It doesn't have to be huge, 3 gallon (whatever size that equates to for you) would be good, if you can't go that big, though, still, the bigger the better.

My Hab has grown significantly over the past month and I also have my first small pod and a number of flowers... Ah, it's so nice seeing them grow :D

Let's get back to your original question and 1st pic. Can you please tell us how you got that kind of growth on a seedling only 6 weeks old. I'm counting 7-8 sets of true leaves after only 6 weeks. That's impressive! Please expound!

Kevin, Truth is I didn't do anything special and I certainly am no expert.
I start the seeds around March by putting them in a damp paper towel. When they germinate, I plant them in small 10cm containers. I leave them outside under the sun during the day and move them inside at nights, but now in July I have to place them in the shade all day long because they wilt as soon as they are exposed to the sun for over 20 minutes lol.

Potting soil is some cheap mix (3,5eur/20lt, label says: "Special potting soil made of 90-95% blond and black peat mixture") mixed with some ground soil to make it heavier.

For fertilizing I dissolve some grounds of granulated organic fertilizer in a bottle of water and then water the plants with it. Its NPK number is 11-15-15.

Well I've been doing the 12 hour on 12 hour off method under flourescents for the last 3-4 years and I usually don't get that many sets of leaves till at least 8-10 weeks. I've never done the ghosts from seed(1st year for them, I found a PLANT at a local nursery. Do ghosts grow quicker as seedlings as opposed to the traditional annuums(jalapenos, serranos, anaheims)?

I've never grown Bhuts specifically, but, I can tell you that the annuums grow much quicker than any chinese variety.

I don't know where Bhut's growth rate would rank among the other super-hots, though. There may be some differences there.

My Red Hab grew faster than my Bhut. Ristra Cayenne and Bell pepper took off they were 3 1/2 to 4 ft tall while my Bhuts were about 1 to 2 ft tall seeds started at the same time.

So far my Trinidad Scorpion is progressing about the same rate ad the Bhuts no surprise as its a super hot chinese.

Yes

Yes, I would say so. I notice a pickup in growth after the stem splits into the Y from a single stem. My Cayenne is an annuum and was larger in the first 8-12 weeks. But the supers do a very nice job catching up by June/July can't even tell they were slower.

I think people get concerned when they see all other varieties out preform their Bhut, Scorp, 7pod, or other super hot and think something is wrong. But in the end the slow start has no affect on performance and pod production.

Start in Jan/Feb harvest between July-Oct (based on living in Zone7)
