Dog staying out of the kitchen during remodel

Our dog has mostly free run of the house, except the kitchen.

To make more room for people to eat as a group at our house (and make the whole house more accessible) we're in the process of merging the kitchen and living room as one.

When it was built, the small eat-in-kitchen had one door. Another doorway was added later to allow a longer table to partially stick out of one end of the kitchen into the living room (a solution that came from limited budget). With a bigger budget and family members now using walkers and wheelchairs, we decided to take the whole wall down.

But we're still keeping the dog out of the kitchen prep area, and he seems to remember where the boundary is.

Here's what he did when we first took down the wall:

And now that the cabinets are in, I walked in to check dinner, saw him hanging out and had to snap a photo to share:

Hmm. Wasn't there a thread about your kitchen matching your dog?

The Gagg ovens are partially in, only the bottom oven is fully connected and we are already using it (our dinner is heating up right now)! Contractors come back monday to finish plumbing the steam oven.
