My son brought a piece of Carrara marble from the quarry when he returned from Italy. It was a perfect match for our Rain Cloud Corian. I haven't had Marble tops so I don't know which is better but I would not give up my Corian.

I don't know the answer to your question, but just wanted to say that we have natural cherry shaker cabs and carrara counters, if you want to see pics of the combination. I know I could not find any when I was in the design phase. It's not a "usual" combo... but I really love the way ours turned out :)

I've seen both installed in my many 'travels" through kitchen showrooms while searching for light countertops as well. I see this as an apples to oranges comparison; both are good choices depending on what you want because they are very different in feel. The organic white is a polished "cool" white, and has a decidedly contemporary look. The Corian is a matte "warm" color, and to me has a very traditional look, mimicking marble. The warm vs. cool issue may influence your backsplash choices, so be sure you know which way you want to go before deciding.

Either way, try to see these in an installation if you can, before deciding. I was all set to go with the organic white until I saw it installed in a kitchen display. The dotty pattern is MUCH more pronounced than I wanted or had expected from the samples and internet pictures I had seen. I decided instead to go with the Caesarstone Buttermilk, which has no pattern and is a warm white (I'll have dark stained cherry). The Corian Rain Cloud I saw was very pretty and I think non-TKO persons could mistake it for stone. It definitely was not a contemporary look on its own, though.

Sorry, I meant to say I chose Caesarstone Blizzard, which is warm white with no pattern. The Buttermilk has the same pattern as Organic White but is a yellowish, creamy color.

Rain Cloud is installed in several kitchen displays at a near by Home Depot on 59th st. in Manhattan. It's paired with soft gray Martha Stewart cabinets which are gorgeous. It looks very nice, but once you touch it it still feels like plastic. No matter what they do to Corian it still has that plastic feel to it which for me is a deal breaker. I just don't see Corian as a high end counter, although the price sure it!

I don't know why they can't replicate these effects in a quartz material.

Have you looked at Corian Cirrus White. I was seriously considering that for quite some time...looks like a nice soft white marble to me. I don't have it as a counter but did get the 10X10 sample. I would suggest ordering the larger sample of Rain Cloud if you are interested in it and being able to see it in the light of your specific kitchen in person. Good luck!

Thanks so much for all the feedback. I love, love, love Carrara, but it's not going to happen. My husband just refuses (staining/etching concerns). I finally saw some Rain Cloud at Home Depot and it may very well be the one. Of course, it'll mean changing the flooring and backsplash choices!

Agree with istyleit as caesarstone's misty carrera being a much closer match to the marble look. Love that it comes both polished and honed. I also couldn't get over the "plastic-y" look of corian when I was looking for my new kitchen counters, but I knew I wanted quartz. In the end I chose Lagos Blue caesarstone tops but here is a pic of the misty carrera to compare.

I have Corian Rain Cloud and it does look an awful lot like Carrara marble. It was more expensive than marble, though, but I paid it because I didn't want to deal with stains and etching. I'm making a thread later for someone else after I take some pics, so I'll link it here.
