Can't find on my own - kitchen sink - 24' cabinet

Asking for help in locating a kitchen sink. Problem: I only have a 24" cabinet, and the cabinet/sink are under a window. My countertop will be granite so, of course I'll need an undermount. The other problem - the plumbing under the sink will only allow for a center drain hole. If anyone can help with a sink option it would be oooooh sooooo appreciated.

I've done a lot of research here on the Forums and elsewhere, but the results have been for larger cabinet/sink sizes or for drains toward the back of the sink.

I do have just a tad over 25" between the wall and the edge of the current countertop. Will this allow for a faucet in the back the sink - like I have now with laminate counter? I guess I'm asking how much room will I need to put faucet behind the sink rather than on the side? The current sink is drop-in with 22" from from to back, including lip. It is just about 25" wide, including lip. Is there a sink that will fit within my limitations that has a drain in the middle?

Is this an impossible dream?????

Thank you for any assistance. I'm going to post on Plumbing too in case there are other options for plumbing changes.

Are there other things planned for under the sink inside the cabinet where the drain stub is now centered? If not, a different configuration of the p-trap and connections are easily made (even though the drain stub is centered).

Standard cabinet counter DEPTH is generally 24 inches (plus a slight overhang of granite). There are many undermount sinks that fit that depth and have room for a faucet in the back.

Now if the WIDTH of your sink cabinet is only 24 inches that limits the size of an undermount sink somewhat, but there are some that will fit.

If you want a stainless steel undermount sink, look at GalaxyToolSupply.com (under kitchen sinks). The Ticor brand has many sizes you can view there for starters.

Thank you - your info helps a lot. I'd prefer the faucet in the back since the cabinet width is so small. As is is now there is NO space between the sink and cabinet. I can't even get a piece of paper between the two. So I know I will need to get a smaller width sink, and I actually think I've found several. I'm on the Galaxy site now. I don't think Ticor has the size with the drain in the middle. I did see the LI brand, which I've never heard of. Do you know anything about that brand?

As long as you don't care about ever replacing the sink down the road, and your cabinets are overbuilt for support for your stone tops, you can "scoop" out the tops of your sink base to fit a 30" sink in a 30" base. I don't recommend it. I've had at least one client who needed to replace her sink, and it wouldn't have been possible if she had done the scooping bit. As it was, she had a 33" sink in a 36" base, and it was doable. The sides of the sink are what transfer the weight of the granite to the ground, and compromising that support is never wise, especially for a heavy bowl full of water.

So I want to find something that matches. White and brushed steel seem like a good option... The glass front cabinet doors on either side of the pendant lights will be frosted as well. By low voltage I mean those small, energy conservative bulbs that are often MR16 style.

My first thought is an 18" dw is fine for a small rental kitchen. We rented out part of the lower part of our first house. We went to trouble and expense to make the kitchen better than what was there. Long story short, every single tenant we had religiously bought take out and used the larger fridge we bought for some lonely leftovers, beverages and condiments. The second to last tenant asked us to remove the island to fit his big sectional in and the last guy did not use it either. We wasted well over $1k, when we were new homeowners and cash was tight, in an effort to have a better rental unit. I'd do a modest size sink and give them more drawer space. You don't want them able to pile up too many dishes anyway.... Ikea has great options for smaller kitchens. Try out their online planner and ask for help when you go there.

Typically a 24" sink will fit in a 24" cabinet. The 24" measurement includes the flange and so the width you really need is usually about 22". Sink manufacturers will typically say it requires a 27" cabinet because the side clips need some room. Even an amateur can get around that. The clips hold the sink tight to the counter and keep it from moving, so you can install the front and back clips and just ignore the sides, the sink isn't going anywhere. If you want the sides for some reason you can notch out the cabinet sides and install the clips, it's not really that hard. You don't need straps for a drop-in sink. Straps support undermount sinks, flanges support drop-in sinks.

I believe the LI brand is a relatively new addition at Galaxy. It was not there when I was looking six months ago. I did buy a Ticor sink and love it (likewise sentiments about the staff at Galaxy!).

Will the Ticor S505 meet your needs? The specs say it only needs a 24" cabinet, and the drain is in the center. I struggled to find the right size sink myself a couple of weeks ago, ordered a Ticor from Galaxy, and couldn't be more thrilled with the choice. In addition to the great prices and free gadgets, the heavier gauge steel (16 vs the 18 or 20 gauge offered by most other brands) was a huge selling point for me. They were incredibly fast and efficient with the ordering and shipping process, too.

We also have a 24" cab under a window. We ended up ordering a sink from Ebay and I am thrilled with it. We paid $329 CDN, but I think he has raised his price a little.

It's a 16 guage stainless square commercial style sink. Very good quality. The service was excellent. I received my sink in about 5 days.

Ikea also makes two versions of their Domsjo fireclay sink that will fit in a 24" base unit--one an undermount and one a farmhouse apron style

Thanks Kailleanm and writersblock. Not sure I want fireclay - although it has come to mind. But, I did look at the squares on ebay. I didn't think the square one would fit, but based on what I saw, it may work. The templators will be here on Wed., and the fabricator said that I should ask them while they are here about sizing. I would like the square sink since I'm getting the Viking induction. The sink and square shapes on the cooktop would be way-kool.
