My new bianco antico will be installed next week

I'm going to try to post my slabs, but I have had a lot of trouble posting so have been unable to do so so far.

I'm worried about my slabs given the large black blob lines. I hope it will be ok. They will be next to my sink, laying horizontally if you are standing next to the sink

I've copied a few different areas on the slab.

a river of lovely black blobs.....it's gorgeous, congratulations. Welcome to the BA club, can't wait to see it installed.

I never get tired of this granite.

The black blobs are the best part! We have Alaska White granite which is similar, and after several months, I am still awed by its beauty.

vadave the Performance 15 Heat Pump is available in two different models. The "A" model and then the improved heating efficiency of the "H" model. For your area, the "H" model would be the better choice. I live in Southern Chester County. I used Stone Masters in Kennett Square. They did fabulous work. (I have BA) In fact I was in there yesterday with a friend looking for her counters. Their prices might not be the cheapest around, but I feel you really are paying for the craftsmanship and you get it from them. Let me know if you do go, I'll tell you whom to ask for. Yellowdog2 - I still love the pietra, but it definitely not as durable as the quartzite. I do have a few chips on the face next to the stove (I think it could be from cleaners trying to handle the heavy cast iron grates from the blue star stove) and many tiny chips around the undermount sink (from me during klutzy clean up.) But the chips around the sink seem to soften/slightly wear over time. In retrospect, I may have opted for an apron front sink the was flush or overlay versus undermount on the sides, but maybe not because I didn't want to spend money on that. Additionally, I don't know if the sealer my fabricator used was the right one. Everything wet leaves a dark mark that fades over a few minutes or hours depending on what it is. I kind of like the variation, but I have read that that is a sign that a stone is not sealed well. I just love the color and tone of the stone and do not regret my choice at all. The funny part is I bypassed the soapstone because a friend has a soft variety that has very large chips all around the sink (mine are relatively small.) Lastly, my fabricator has a hard time with the seam, the edges of the pieces were chiped up and they didn't color the adhesive well. They had to do it over again. I don't know if it was a function of a worn tool or that it was more brittle (which is what they told me.) But they were able to rework it and it looks OK, but not great. So it is full disclosure here and I hope I haven't scared you. I just really love how the two stones compliment and do not compete with each other, but don't look matchy either. Good luck :)

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, Redroze, it is 1 1/4". I'm so glad to hear you still love to look at it everyday. I find myself just staring at it! Paintpanther--yes, planning the blacksplash is next. Now I can at least visualize it more. I am still in love with that Kraftmaid ad's backsplash--so Hollywood glam. I have a small Irish crystal chandelier for over the island. Well, it's on a hook where the old light was, so technically, it's near the new island's location. Hopefully soon to be permanently relocated to over the island. Remodelfla-I have to admit, when I bought the sink from Overstock, I didn't even notice the drain was in the center. I was so used to seeing them offset. It worked out for me anyway because I am not one that likes to "advertise" the names of my products, and with the hole centered, I was able to turn the sink around and not see the "C-Tech.." thing that is engraved there. I really like the clean line it gives with the sharp angles. I'm glad you like the long ogee edge on the island, mairin. When we chose it, the fabricator was so excited--he said it's his favorite for showing off the granite. Sorry the island picture is blurry. I must have still been shaking from the shock that I finally had granite in my house! My floor is going to be a cork floor. Natural Cork's New Dimension Narrow Plank in Corte. We have been struggling if this floor will be too dark, now that the dark cabinets are in the room. We plan on spreading it out and taking a look now that the granite is in. If we opt to not use it then we can put it down in another part of the house. It is a beautiful floor.

I know what you mean about the blobs. I keep seeing them in BA slabs lately compared to what I was seeing late last winter. That being said, I like your slabs! It's a veritable BA feast around here today. Love it! Like I told Rachel, you must post photos after install!

Oooooooooooh I love those big black blobs! Your slab is beautiful. I'm constantly finding something new and captivating in my BA that I hadn't really noticed before. Might be a big taupey chunk or a sparkly hunk of mica or a black blob or a yummy swirl.....LOL.......I never get tired of looking at it.

Happy, happy for you and can't wait to see after installation!

Question: Is there really that much red in the middle of each shot or is that an HTC camera phone?

The question Freud would want to know is - what do you see when you look at those big black blobs (butterflies perhaps)?

The color adds some real character to the slab. I'm sure it will look beautiful! Really, it is what adds the depth and makes the stone worth getting.

I am having such a difficult time posting on these forums.

I think that is just my iPhone making it look so red, but maybe not. It was sort of dark in the room because it was a warehouse. The slab on the other side had the cinnamon rivers, so maybe this one does too.

I loved the statement above "river of lovely black blobs."

Missmuffet, your comment about he Rorschach is perfect because I am a psychologist. :)

That is odd. iPhones are supposed to have a blue-ish tint while the HTC phones are reddish. I only asked because we didn't know there was red in bianco antico until it was installed. I never saw any red on the slab in the warehouse, but the pieces we got have a good bit of rose colored areas.

I thought, looking at your slab, "Pretty! But they're getting A LOT of red!". Haha. Enjoy it! It really makes the kitchen, we found. And they will probably break up the blobs if you need a few cuts. Ours was well proportioned.

I saw a bianco antico slab today, and it was soooo beautiful. There is really a lot more to it then the pictures are showing. Once you get it home and watch the light hit it, I really think you are gonna love it. I've almost convinced myself I could make it match my cabinets (it looked great with my floor though).

Beautiful slab!!! How exciting! We are also getting bianco antico put in our kitchen, should go in within the next 2-3 weeks. I am very excited as well. Its such a beautiful stone.

you'll love it! i have BA with lots of splotches, chunks, even rough spots. to me, it all adds to the character & natural beauty of this stone. and yes, mine has red/rust areas in it too.
