Both are beautiful. And I've seen kitchens done in both that are beautiful too. Personally, I love Moon Night and swoon every time I see it in pictures and in person. I prefer the cool gray and white tones of the Moon Night and would choose it. Good luck with your choice. I look forward to seeing you kitchen progress.

Both are beautiful. I am partial to superwhite (have it on my island) but can see how warm the BA is with the browns (I don't think you need to "match" your floors though.) You are picking between two very different looks, though taking brown in the bianco aside, not dis-similar coloration. They are both dramatic, but small scale versus large scale "patterns." Interior decorator types seem to encourage a mixture of smaller and larger patterns. Your plans for the backsplash, large or small (or no) patterns there could influence your counter choice.

I think the moon white will give you more of a contrast, and I am hestiant to say "dramatic" look because the BA has drama as well, just different. I can't imagine the moom white is any different than the supreme white we have (same exact look, though our is a little more white than gray.) It has been great, no staining or problems. We had ours honed, I love it because there are sparkling chunks of quartz in the stone but the rest is matte.

Good luck, just follow your gut, there is no bad decision here :)

I too love them both! But based on your description, I think the BA will help pick up the brown tones you seem to have going on better than the other. Either is gorgeous!

My vote is for Moonlight. I think BA would fit nicely in the color scheme but Moonlight is one of a kind!

Rita - at Quality Marble where you told me to look. They had both slabs there and you were right - way less expensive. Thanks for the info!! All our other bids were for about $6k for everything, and they were almost $2k cheaper there with a fabricator our contractor suggested.
Sparklekitty - thanks for much for the info about the staining etc. It was a concern we had. As far as backsplash - if we went with the BA we'd probably have a white subway tile backsplash or something similar so it didn't clash or look too busy, and with the Moon Night, maybe a glass tile light gray. We don't have it in the budget to do our backsplash for a while after the remodel so we have time to decide on that and look around.

They are both beautiful, but I vote for the Super White (that's what we're going with, so I'm biased!!). I think both would look good with your floor and cabinets, so maybe find a backsplash you love and make the decision that way?!? Good luck!!

Another biased opinion - go with the BA. I think it ties together the browns of the wood on your island and floors and off whites of the perimeter. Of course, this is the color scheme of my kitchen (except my perimeter cabs are white)!

Seriously, you can't go wrong with either, but I find the BA warmer.

Rita - I think it is a quartzite - but the place we are getting it from lists it under their Granites (which I think works out better if we pick it because it's less expensive then other places I've seen it listed as a quartzite):

To me White Fantasy and Princess White - which I've also heard it called are very different. More of wavy movement of grey instead of the chunks, but I'm definitely no expert. They are all gorgeous. The slabs we saw were definitely mostly grey so I wonder if that would make it less prone to staining?

Funny, I did find calypsochicks kitchen but not through GW, just while I was googling Super White kitchens and came across the blog.

They are holding all 4 slabs for us until tomorrow morning so that will be the day! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Electric and drywall is supposedly going to be done next Wednesday (dang holiday Monday making us lose a day). Then flooring will only take a couple days. It feels like for a month now I've seen not much progress. I think once the drywall goes up I will feel much better. I already had a crying breakdown last Friday when DH said it might take the rest of the summer to finish. We went camping over the weekend - and it was a luxury to be able to cook in the trailer, haha!

I'll post what we decide and with hopefully more pictures tomorrow. Thank you all again for your votes.

I was waffling between the same two slabs. I ended up picking the super white for my island and pietra for the perimeter (not installed yet). I do still wonder if I should've done BA. It is beautiful. I think it's a win-win as they are both stunning. Guess I'm not much help...sorry! Can't wait to see what you pick.

I saw some Moon Night slabs last year at a yard and they were darker gray than you show. They stopped me in my tracks! But Bianco Antico was my granite love before that.

Someone on the Bathrooms Forum gave me this tip when I was trying to decide between two tub fillers that were the same price and that I liked equally as well. Maybe it'll help you too. Imagine that I told you that you couldn't have the Moon Night. Not possible. How would you feel? Would you regret losing them? Now imagine I told you that all the BA slabs were sold out and you couldn't have those either. Would you regret that as much?

When I tried this quiz on DH, he immediately chose a faucet. I was still waffling, but his reaction sealed the deal for me.

Breezygirl - Thank you so much for chiming in. That advice is genius. I thought about what you said and I'm actually already prepping myself for them to tell me that the Moon Night won't work. The 2 slabs they have are 2 inches smaller than the BA slabs, and although my fabricator thinks they would be big enough, he's not 100% sure. In fact, we had another fabricator tell us that we needed three slabs instead of two of the BA we were looking at a different yard. That said, I know if it happens, I'd be really disappointed, but I don't think I'd be as disappointed if I lost the BA...so it makes me think I have my answer. I'm curious as to what my DH will think and which way he will go. I'm making him read this post as soon as he walks in the door.

Based on the browns you have in the floor and island, my vote is for Bianco Antico. I think those pieces will pull the brown from the counter beautifully and provide a nice warm flow.

Slush, if those slabs don't work, you let me know, 'cause I'll file on Tuesday. Where are they, anyway? Just in case?

We did it! Moon Night is in our future. The posts were about 50/50 with a few more leaning towards the BA but DH and I just couldn't stop looking at the Moon Night. I can't wait to see how they turn out in our kitchen. One step closer...

I asked the rep at the yard yesterday if the Moon Night was granite or quartzite and he said granite. I'm just thinking though that it's like others have said and he's just doesn't know. He did say it was a very hard stone.

Yes, sparklekitty you have been a great inspiration, but can I ask...has your pietra held up ok? After I ordered it I read not so great things about it. Fingers crossed!

Yellowdog2 - I still love the pietra, but it definitely not as durable as the quartzite. I do have a few chips on the face next to the stove (I think it could be from cleaners trying to handle the heavy cast iron grates from the blue star stove) and many tiny chips around the undermount sink (from me during klutzy clean up.) But the chips around the sink seem to soften/slightly wear over time. In retrospect, I may have opted for an apron front sink the was flush or overlay versus undermount on the sides, but maybe not because I didn't want to spend money on that.

Additionally, I don't know if the sealer my fabricator used was the right one. Everything wet leaves a dark mark that fades over a few minutes or hours depending on what it is. I kind of like the variation, but I have read that that is a sign that a stone is not sealed well.

I just love the color and tone of the stone and do not regret my choice at all. The funny part is I bypassed the soapstone because a friend has a soft variety that has very large chips all around the sink (mine are relatively small.)

Lastly, my fabricator has a hard time with the seam, the edges of the pieces were chiped up and they didn't color the adhesive well. They had to do it over again. I don't know if it was a function of a worn tool or that it was more brittle (which is what they told me.) But they were able to rework it and it looks OK, but not great.

So it is full disclosure here and I hope I haven't scared you. I just really love how the two stones compliment and do not compete with each other, but don't look matchy either. Good luck :)

Good choice, going with the Super White. Bianco Antico is no doubt beautiful, but it has a lot of mica in it (the dark parts). My customers sometimes complain about "rough spots" on the face, which we then have to fill with tinted epoxy. Those areas are where the material has flaked.
Another problem can come up when there is mica on the edges of the undermount sink cutout. If you tap a wooden spoon in the wrong place, that mica will flake or chip right off. Just last week I had to go on a service call on a "Barricato" kitchen for this issue. It took some time to fill the chips but I was able to fix the problen like it never happened.
