Comments (2)Those are beautiful cabinets. They really call out to me for something in a walnut tone, like the link below. Or at least that general caramel-y color. (You might find some teak like that.) The other option might be to try to minimize grain since the counters have a pattern, in which case maybe you'd like something in a very ungrainy stained maple cappuccino type shade. Here is a link that might be useful: Walnut floor...See MoreCherry cabinets, but which granite would be best for the counters
Comments (18)Wow! So many good ideas and great pics.Sorry it took so long to get back but my daughter just got back from Costa Rica. She was there for a study abraod to learn Spanish but got Swine Flu, Pneumonia and 106 fever. We flew down for a week while she was in the hospital, but they kept her for 2 more weeks. I hope this helps answer the mold question. When the mold enters your body, your immune system is compromised. I hae since had 4 sinus operations. My children and I no longer make IgA, IgM and some IgG subclass antibodies and get sick very easily. We now get infusions of IVIG every 3 weeks. If you have mold in your house, get rid of it NOW! The lifelong effects are not worth any amount of money and the infusions themselves run ~$4,000 per infusion (thank god for insurance). Anyway, the pictures have helped me narrow down my choices, the very dark granites wouldn't work because it would make the kitchen too dark (and I would never see the ants crawling). I like both granites from the first two pictures that Boxer pups posted, although my cabinets are more the color of the pic with the wine and glasses. I will have to check out the Kashmir White and other light whites and greens. What about the backsplash? Any suggestions? Also, any ideas about using onyx on one of the 5 bathrooms I need to get going on. My husband is pushing me to make quick decisions and I wish you could all come here and help!...See MoreKitchen Counter Help - Maple Cabinets and Walnut Floors
Comments (11)The previous owner of our house also decided to replace the kitchen countertops (encouraged by the realtor) just before listing. I absolutely hate the countertop she picked. We offered less than asking price & they took it. I can't bring myself to tear out brand new counters, at least not yet. I would have been thrilled to have gotten an allowance to pick my own. The allowance might get you a great offer as opposed to people offering less or walking away from something they didn't like....See MoreLight/White Countertops with Natural Maple Cabinets Picture Request
Comments (108)Michele - Here is a wood kitchens idea book with different floorings in some pics. https://www.houzz.com/plans/wood-kitchens-pp~543268?stepId=saved In my own kitchen I went with old fashion 2 1/4" solid wood flooring throughout the main level (except tiled front entry and powder room). While not trendy, my house and cabinetry are older and it seemed to blend well with the older elements since it is the floor seen in older homes - some over a 100 years old. I went with natural oak as it worked best with my cabinets and doors....See Moretrailgirl
