My Cabinets are more creamy than yellow but they have a definite yellow undertone. We started with the walls painted yellow but felt that the caramel color toned down the yellow a little. They are painted maple with "heirloom" distressing from Mouser Cabinetry.

Mine have a yellow undertone as well, but can also seem kind of green when paired with certain other colors (be aware of weird color plays when picking your cab color!) - and for some reason in pictures they come off as more white (though not so in person, and I think once the white subway tiles are installed the cabs will definitely appear more yellow...

Oh - I forgot to mention that mine are Hertco - wheat sheaf with heirloom finish and the island is brancy with black accent....

vwhippiechick-I love your kitchen! Quick question- what brand is your chandelier? It's just what I'm looking for to place over my air tub. Thanks!

Here is an older photo. My cabinets look peachy in the picture but are really creamy yellow. They are oyster heirloom with a mocha glaze.

jenanla: The faucets are Showhouse Waterhill. Be careful if you get a bar faucet as it doesn't swivel (it drives me crazy). If only I had discovered gardenweb earlier, I would have realized some faucets don't swivel.

bbtondo: The cabinets are Schuler from Lowes in Oyster Heirloom. Schuler is also Medallion Cabinetry.

Dixiedoodle - my chandelier is from Lowe's and it was very inexpensive as lights go. It is left over from my old kitchen. I had considered changing it. Do you think we should leave it? My DH would love it if you said yes. LOL
Cleo - The paint was one of my hardest decisions!! I started with a soft golden yellow. The color was lovely but it looked terrible with the travertine. This color was suggested by an ID who specializes in historical homes. It is a Devine color called Cafe. It seemed too dark initially until the cabinets went in. Now I really like it. It even perked up the green in my dining room.
bbtondo- We love, love, love our cabinets. I can't explain how happy I am with them. They are beautifully made and the installers were very talented. The cream paint is delicious. I think you would be happy with the Mousers if that is what you choose. Are you in Kentucky? They are made in Elizabethtown. I hope to post more pix as we finish up.

My kitchen is almost completed - and the cabinets are a creamy yellow. They are Omega dynasty - Alma with a glaze. Depending on the lighting and the sunlight from outside - they look more yellow or more cream - but here's a shot:

I'm restoring a 1929 kitchen that will have yellow cabinets, subway tile backsplash (with black accents), soapstone counters, and a fir floor. I only have paint samples up so far, but I'm pretty sure I'm going with the Butter color from Restoration Hardware (but I'll have it color matched at Benjamin Moore). Here are some samples (all in natural daylight):

Here is the breakfast room (the dark color on the trim is called Saffron). One of these next 2 shots has direct sunlihgt on it, so the butter looks quite different in the two photos (which are of opposite walls). I'm posting them right next to each other, so you can see how different the color looks when the sun is shining right on it:

Sometimes I think I'd like a color just a teeny bit lighter. But generally, I love this color. It is very warm and soothing. Most visitors who have seen it have said that they just love it.

There are some nice yellowish kitchens on the Rejuvenation website. The link below has one that I love (and is pretty much the same yellow I am trying for).

Finally, there was a yellow kitchen on GW a few months ago that I just loved. I think the owner's name was Suzannah. I have searched and searched and searched, and I cannot find it. Argh! It was in a thread about painted cabinets. I thought the thread had "yellow" in the title. Maybe it has dropped out? She had gray counters, and pale yellow cabs, and subway tiles. Does anyone remember that kitchen? I think her island had red stools. I wish I would have clipped it!

I love this post! I told someone that I was going to have white painted cabinets and they told me in a very snotty tone, "You shouldn't because they will just turn yellow after time."

I think it is a win for me. White now - yellow later! These yellow kitchens are stunning.

Thank you for sharing your creamy Kitchens. Reassuring. I finally landed on Rich Maid (their more affordable Pinnacle Gold line) cabs in "Silent Yellow" w/ light glaze for my arts & crafts kitchen after MONTHS and months of spinning in circles searching for the right wood cabs. A light bulb moment when I realized that paint and not more wood was needed in this kitchen already blessed with wood ceiling and wood fir floors.
Duh.
Now all my green art pottery, wooden ware and other earthy decorative items will stand out and not be lost in the gloom. The Motawi tiles will be showcased. Now onto the great drawers vs pullouts debate.

Hi teched: I am not sure what you mean by partial overlay. The cabinets were done be a local cabinetmaker but he has access to a laser cutter. I am not sure of the technique. An artist friend of mine designed the finish. The undercoat was a yellowed ivory color which she created and which was then applied by the cabinetmaker. I have the forumla she created, but I do know that it had to be tweaked somewhat in the medium that was used as the finish. She glazed the cabinets with raw sienna artist oil mixed with linseed oil. The painting in the kitchen was also done by her several years ago. The floors are Globus cork tiles cut in a parquet pattern in the color golden oak--to me the color is not your typical oak but almost an English walnut. The granite is Niteroy, and the backsplash is Bella casa tumbled marble. We mixed four colorways. I had a wonderful installer who was very patient with me and permitted me to choose specific tiles to in a general way reflect the movements in the granite. He also installed the cork and built, painted and glazed the door and window surrounds to match the cabinets. The undercabinet lighting is xenon, and the lighting in the cabinets are low voltage xenon. I painted the walls myself. I can give you a website reference with more detail about how I painted the walls using color washes that were brushed out. I hope this helps.
