Show Me Your ORB Kitchen Hardware with Your Creamy White Cabinets

Hi Everyone. Getting down to the final details. I would love to put ORB pulls and knobs on my creamy white kitchen cabinets. I know it will look great with my granite. Just a little nervous;don't want the hardware to look to jaring ( if I am describing my concern accurately). The other choice would be a burnish brass or German bronze--they are fairly similar, and would also look good. Thanks for your help.

I went back and forth on this a million times, ORB or Satin Nickel...exposed hinges or hidden hinges...I ended up with exposed hinges in ORB (thanks to advice and pics from GW) and I really do like it. My ORB hinges and knobs look more black in the photos but they aren't quite as dark in person and have a warmer undertone. Be sure you see the ORB in person because some ORB is more on the brown side and some has a blacker tone, like mine. My cabinets aren't as creamy as some, they are more white, but a soft white and I don't think it's too jarring.

Ksd, you might want to try the FKB (see link below and click on slideshow) since no one with cream cabinetry has replied yet. You'll see lots of finished kitchens and be able to see the various types of hardware on cream cabinets. With my cabinets being so white, the ORB will look different on your cream cabinets!

Kat - Thanks for the compliment. Our perimeter counters are soapstone and the island is marble. The marble still makes me nervous and I continue to etch it (which is not highly visible on the honed surface, but I still know they are there). The inset cabinets were an absolute must for us. We did tear down construction in an older neighborhood and wanted to have some elements of the 1920s-1940s style consistent with the neighborhood. With the kitchen being visible from the front door, it needed to be both pretty and fairly authentic. Sure, I lost a little storage space by doing the inset, but the look is exactly what we needed.

ummm, I haven't any. I put up bn look command hooks for the wet towels on the face of the shower as a temporary measure until I could decide on what to get. I only have one place (in that huge bathroom) where I could hang a bar, but the area ended up being a few inches narrower than I thought and am worried about it (a bar) encroaching on the space where the toilet is. I've got my eye on the tp holder that matches the faucets. It's brushed nickel and since it would be on a painted wall, i think it would look better than the orb. But can't commit until I decide about a towel bar for sure and the matching towel bar sets out too far from the wall for that space. So I am pretending that someday I'll figure it out - until then the tp sits on the back of the toilet. I am the only user, so it's fine.

The knobs and pulls match perfectly. They are sturdy and heavy and I love them. With shipping and handling the whole order came to a little over $41.00. I ordered 25 of each and wouldn't you know it, I'm one knob short. I hadn't figured in the island doors when doing the planning. I found an exact match at Home Depot for $4.30! Grrrrrr. I have 6 extra pulls if anyone wants them for postage.

Buffalotina here... When I remodelled my kitchen I already had a white fridge (Amana, nothing fancy) and a white Miele DW which I absolutely love and both were fine and not ready for replacement. The fridge is tucked away out of sight in the breakfast nook and looks OK there because there are no cabinets and the other stuff in there is utility white wire shelving, racks etc. As you see I did the Blue range. I agonized over whether the white DW would be OK but I decided to go ahead with it rather than trying to panel it or anything. My rationale was that as you look at that wall the backsplash is white and the white DW is also in the vertical plane and so I think it looks fine. I also have the small freestanding white cabinet that stands in the vertical plane. Also my cabinets are a very yellowy cream (Brookhaven French Vanilla) and so there was no problem with white on white where the whites might not look good together. That all said if and when I replace the DW and fridge I am tempted to go stainless... but it will probably all depend on what fridges are available at that point. Right now I am lusting over a Liebherr....and that is only in stainless... and when push comes to shove I may not be able to bring myself to spend that much on a fridge. I think I would be inclined to go with what looks more period for the 1915 house...and perhaps showcase the white vintage range and keep it the only white appliance? Good luck!!!

Lesmis, those are BEAUTIFUL cabinets. So soft and simple and elegant. I can't imagine anything but the ORB on them.

Thanks Mrsmonkey, I'm glad we went with the ORB too, but it took me a week or more to decide! Thank goodness for GW and all of the pictures on the web so I could keep looking and looking until I realized it was the best choice for us!

I used simple ORB pulls on my cream cabinets, I like the look and think it works fine ...
