Chrome faucets and matching finishes

We need to choose our fauct finish, and I had told the designer I wanted chrome. I have chrome in the bathroom, and it cleans up great, whereas the brushed nickel in our other bathroom it always looks a little dingy.

Our kitchen designer suggested if we are doing stainless steel appliances that we'll want to do the brushed chrome instead. We don't even know what finish we're doing on our pulls yet, and I don't think I care if everything matches.

Does your faucet match the rest of your finishes, like your hardware? Did you match it to your appliances?

In my kitchen we are doing SS appliances, SS farm house sink and brushed stainless faucet. I also haven't even considered pull. All the kitchen lighting is recessed and under counter as I will have a SS vent hood over in island. Over the sink and bar, which are open to family room and breakfast I will have two brushed nickle pendants but only the rods are that color. The shades are a stone look.
I haven't even thought about pulls yet. (I have a couple months though)
In master bath I went all chrome. Sleek single handle faucets, matching tub filler and shower sets.(Delta Vero) My lights are also chrome, with mini chandelier over tub. Again used recessed lights. Master closet also has hanging chrome drum light and recess. (again-haven't even thought about pulls though I'm sure I will probably match fixture)
Both kids baths upstairs are going to be ORB. (I let them choose as they are teens) Lights, fixtures and I suppose pulls will be ORB.
Door knobs are brushed stainless except for double front door. It is full glass with iron scroll work so I ordered black. Stair balusters will also be black(considered doing nickel but thought it would go with door better)

I have polished chrome faucets, knobs, and pulls. My counters are brushed stainless. My light fixtures...um...brushed aluminum and brushed nickel but if it's bright enough to see that they are slightly different, you're going to be seeing spots and not noticing the slight mismatch.

Obviously I don't think it matters--they're all silver!

I would prefer you to do a shiny faucet, and whatever pull you end up liking. If you try to be too matchy matchy, then it'll be noticeable when you fail. And if you really want to be matchy matchy on the faucet, get an actual brushed stainless finish.

In my world, however, faucets are supposed to be chrome. (Unless you have actual OLD faucets which may be in polished nickel--surprisingly durable!)

Yes, a family member who I visit a lot has "Moen Faucets in Chrome Finish" Several Moen faucets. Where they live there is not much choice unless they go to a place that will have demanding salespeople with attitude. So, I forgive them for not looking for fancier faucets. Besides, the Moen faucets DO work. Except when they don't. I think some Moen faucets can de duds. I observed they replaced their Moen kitchen faucet with Yet Another Moen, instead of asking for Moen support. Some people are like that; they just won't call and use their warranty. -- I've seen a few Moen in real life. chrome in Moen is OK. Good. -- I believe the side sprayer on Moen kitchen faucets is always an evermost gentle vegetable spray, so gentle that it wouldn't bruise the most delicate leaf of the oldest spinach. Personally I find it weak. But it does the job. -- chrome is always good, these days. Not like it was years ago when people were still learning how to plate it onto plastic-y materials. chrome is a method and therefore not totally comparable from one manufacturer to another. There are variations in the recipes (ingredients and methods). chrome in some manufacturers' faucets is mindblowingly amazingly beautiful (in a price multiples higher than Moen). -- Moen has good customer service and a good guarantee. I've also seen duds from them. But, if you keep the receipt you can get service. I have nothing against Moen. It's an honest company: what they say is what they do. -- I cannot advise about the Dorsey pullout. Hth

jshore, i just finished our kitchen and have the grohe bridgeford pull down faucet and i LOVE it!! i have it in polished chrome and did buy the matching grohe soap dispenser (polished chrome) and i think they look beautiful together. got them at irawoods, the dispenser was 65.00, free shipping and no tax. yes you can find polished chrome elsewhere, just make sure it is what you want and the finish is good so it won't rub off. good luck!!

We also have a mix of finishes - all in the "silver" family: brushed nickel (ours is "silver") faucets/soap dispenser/air switch, brushed SS strainers/drains, pewter pendants, and antique iron hardware. I think if you generally stay in the same color "family" you'll be OK.

I should have clarified. I'm not crazy about the Pinstripe, my husband wanted it. I don't like the nuts and bolts look/shape. It's very prevalent in the accessories, more so than in the faucet. I especially don't like the Octagon shape of the towel ring. I would splurge on the towel ring since it's closest to the faucet, but I just don't like it. I was trying to find an accessory style I could live with that didn't completely fight the Pinstripe. Maybe I should go with another Kohler model for all the accessories. The Kohler prices are all over the place though. The Pinstripe towel ring is about $180.00, The Margaux is about $90.00 and the Devonshire is about $20.00. Who knows if the chrome will look the same on the less expensive pieces.

carrie_eileen, I have the same faucet and I was concerned about mixing and matching. I also like chrome for the way it shines and cleans. My sink is stainless, and my cabinet hardware will be brushed nickel. I've spent a lot of time decided this- and my KD, the designer at the Knob shop, and the advice I got from this forum all said it is fine to mix.

I have the Vinnata in chrome along with the Kohler chrome filtered cold water faucet and chrome soap dispenser. Cabinet pulls and center light fixture are satin nickel and appliances are SS.

I will be installing the same finishes as Katsmah and Joan...chrome faucet and soap dispenser, satin nickel pulls and SS appliances, including sink. I wanted the faucet to sparkle, and the pulls I chose IMO looked higher quality in satin nickel vs. the chrome or stainless options.
