I don't have either of those faucets, but I've been to the plumbing showroom a dozen times this year. Every Moen faucet they have, both kitchen and bath, are solid looking and feeling faucets. Don't go near Delta though--their stuff is chrome looking plastic. I was very disappointed in that after having picked a Delta tub filler online without seeing it in person. Do you have a showroom nearby where you could go look and touch IRL just to be sure? At that price point, I'd worry about the chrome even though I've been impressed with all the Moens I've seen.

On a seperate note, I strongly suggest a pull-down, or a least a pull-out, faucet with built-in sprayer instead of a faucet with a seperate spray. So much easier to use and clean around. I'm sure the next owner will thank you!

Yes, a family member who I visit a lot has "Moen Faucets in Chrome Finish"
Several Moen faucets.
Where they live there is not much choice unless they go to a place that will have demanding salespeople with attitude.
So, I forgive them for not looking for fancier faucets.
Besides, the Moen faucets DO work.
Except when they don't.
I think some Moen faucets can de duds.

I observed they replaced their Moen kitchen faucet with Yet Another Moen, instead of asking for Moen support.
Some people are like that; they just won't call and use their warranty.

I believe the side sprayer on Moen kitchen faucets is always an evermost gentle vegetable spray, so gentle that it wouldn't bruise the most delicate leaf of the oldest spinach. Personally I find it weak. But it does the job.

Not like it was years ago when people were still learning how to plate it onto plastic-y materials.

chrome is a method and therefore not totally comparable from one manufacturer to another.
There are variations in the recipes (ingredients and methods).
chrome in some manufacturers' faucets is mindblowingly amazingly beautiful (in a price multiples higher than Moen).

Moen has good customer service and a good guarantee.
I've also seen duds from them.
But, if you keep the receipt you can get service.
I have nothing against Moen.
It's an honest company: what they say is what they do.

I beg to differ with you Davidro about the "chrome always being good." The chrome Deltas I saw and touched were POS, cheap, plastic things. I guess if by saying "chrome is always good" you mean that REAL facuets with REAL chrome are good, then you're probably right. But a chrome look, instead of actual chrome, is plastic. Not the same thing.

Last summer we bought the Moen's Quinn, in chrome with sidespray, for our kitchen. It's "chrome finish", not "chrome look", feels sturdy and heavy enough, and according to the spec sheet (below), it's metal construction. We went for sidespray instead of pullout because we had four holes in our older Ikea (composite) sink...

We went with Moen because, like davidrol's family member, we are rather challenged for choice in our rural area and wanted something inexpensive to suit our budget; it was about $140 CA at the time. The other finish choice was stainless, but aside from the extra cost, I wanted chrome to fit in with our O'Keefe & Merritt 1950s range.

I've been very happy with it and because we have hard water, about once a month, shine it up with Turtle Wax...

I'm not familiar with the Dorsey or Muirfield, have you read the product specs on them and/or taken a look at them in a nearby store?

Not kitchen, but in case it helps you, we have Moen chrome faucets in both bathrooms. One is 13 yrs old and the other was new last summer, and they both look and work exactly as they did when they were installed. They were from a kitchen/bath showroom, not a big box (which probably makes no difference, but just in case it does...). The 13-yr-old Moen handheld shower head is some kind of laminated chrome-over-plastic and that part is peeling; I have been told that that is why that particular part doesn't have the same warranty as the rest. But the actual chrome faucets have held up very well and I am happy with them.

I have a Moen faucet and have been very happy with it. In fact, I chose to save it and use it in my new reno.

Would I have liked to have splurged and purchased the new Delta Touch? Yes I would, but I'm also practical and my Moen was perfectly fine.

I've had it installed for over a year and it still looks very nice. I bought it at either HD or Lowes. I don't see my current model on their websites but to answer your question, the chrome is holding up well.

I'll post of a picture of it tomorrow if you would like to see it. It is similar to the Neva in styling.

May not be mean anything but I have Moen bathroom faucets in chrome (quite polished) and they have held up flawlessly for more than a dozen years.

Some chrome-ish things do turn out to be plastic these days. If you inadvertently choose one of these however, it will be obvious as soon as you open the package. Just box it back up and exchange for something that's chrome finish on metal. Don't be shy.

I have a cheap moen pullout in from HD that we bought as a stopgap till we get going with redoing this place (if we ever do get it together). The handpiece is light enough to feel kind of cheesy, but the chrome has held up very well even with our nasty well water. I wouldn't worry about the finish.

I have a Moen Dorsey that was installed about 3 weeks ago. I have the brushed nickel and not chrome. I must admit that it is not a solid as I thought it would be. It feels sort of light. It works great though and we got a very good deal on it at Lowes.

Thank you all for your input. It sounds like the finish is not as much of an issue as the weight and feel of the faucets. I have only looked at faucets online and at Home Depot/Lowes where you can only see them from afar but not touch them. Now I think I need to visit some plumbing product showrooms where I can actually test how they feel in my hand. I appreciate your help!
